The so-called IWD is marked every year the 8th of March. In Denmark we have marked the day, to put womens political, but also social achievements in focus. Especially that women have got the possibility to vote in democracy, is in focus. In Denmark women got the possibility to vote in 1915. The idea of IWD came from Clara Zetkin on an International Women's Conference in august 1910. Some socialistic Danes organized the conference. On March 19, 1911, IWD was marked for the first time, by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. 29th: Palm Sunday: On Palm Sunday, Christians celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection. For many Christian churches, Palm Sunday, are often referred to as "Passion Sunday", it marks the beginning of Holy Week, which concludes Easter Sunday. The Bible tells that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people greeted him by waving palm branches and covering his path with palm branches. And thats why the day is called palm Sunday. 28th: HOLIDAY!! The schools in Denmark get Easter holiday on the 28th of March, for a whole week. We celebrate Easter holiday with family members and friends.
