here? Why do you think there are so many books around
him?
Why is he grey? (Have them just think on that)
Look at the colourful character you see. What do you think
amiable means?
What do you notice in this picture? (Boy is colourful, reading
good book)
Wait a second, how can you carry books in your heart?!

and just think how did this story make me feel?
What did it make me want to do?
Bring it back to with the opening of a book There is
something magical about opening a good book. When I say
the magic word which is? (GO) You may grab one of your
favourite books from your book box, go to your table
groups and each share one page from your book and
how you feel about your book. If your favourite book
isnt here just explain why you like it.
During this activity I need you all to be whispering so everyone
can share and hear each other. You have to stay in your table
groups but you can move around the room if it will help you
focus better.
MODEL: Before you go, Ill show you what you will do at your
table groups with your favourite book. Collect 2 kids around
me, the book I want to share is The Fantastic. (page where
he is swinging on the letters) I like this part on the book
because sometimes I go on long adventures in books too

Back to carpet, Any questions of what you need to do?

You have ten minutes to share and then come back to the
carpet. (In whisper) go!
5min in: Half of your group should have shared by now. Does
anyone think they will need more than 5 min to finish now?
Once youre done return to the carpet Leave your books at
your tables.

We will watch a movie now that has no words. While we watch

reading?

I expect Excellent level of detail on your portrait. This is
a 30min time Im giving you. I would like to see that
type of work form you. I will be picking a few students
to share at the end. If you need help explaining your
sketch of you in your book just ask your table-mates for
help first. Then come to me.
