Students will be able to -SWBAT 1C: Identify minerals by observing their physical properties. L: Write basic physical features of minerals and explain them with simple sentences. (EI) (Luster is the shininess of the mineral.) 2C: Illustrate how the rock cycle continuously recycles Earth materials. L: Write each step of the rock cycle and explain how rocks change form from one type to another 3C: Design vocabulary flashcards and define each term using their textbook. L: Rewrite the definitions of the new vocabulary by using their own expressions. Proofread their own sentences and make corrections as necessary. (Capitalization, punctuation, grammar) 4C: Describe Earths internal layers and what they are composed of. L: Read the caption in given figure that illustrates the internal layers of the Earth and explain verbally what makes up each layer. 5C: Examine the samples of minerals and observe differentiating features. Students will compare the color, density, texture of the samples. L: Participate in small group discussion and verbalize the physical properties of the rock samples they examined.
