Which reading or writing strategy will you use from 50 Strategies for Teaching English Language
Learners?
Since Im science teacher and science is full of unknown vocabularies, words are science content-specific
words that are generally low-frequency words in English, for examples include isotope, lathe, osmosis,
mass, and membrane. I use vocabulary wall and flash card to remind them these words.
Summarize the chapter is another technique that I use in order to develop their writing skills and
reading comprehension.
Working in small groups: Have them figure out what goes wrong?, what is easy to learn?
I Use visuals that reinforce spoken or written words.
Everybody knows my routines and theyre all written on my board.
I have free voluntary reading session before starting the lecturing part. This is very useful tool for
students to get involved in reading.
Of course I use visuals, do experiments and hands on activities.
