Hope Statement Comfort Zone
I want my dreams come true. I am living some of my dreams right now. My first step to
that was to recognize that I was stuck in my comfort zone. My dreams just came true when I
started to do things outside my comfort zone. How about you? Are you living your dreams or
stuck in your comfort zone?
Reflection
I was used to my ability to speak in order to persuade other to do or buy something.
When I was speaking in my native language I could feel confident and powerful. I could achieve
some good professional results by my ability persuade others and everything was appearing fine.
However, I was not completely happy. I felt that I needed something more to my family and me.
I was worried about how better I could prepare my kids for the future. What kinds of education
and opportunities I could provide to them. I really wanted to give to them something that I had
not in my childhood or adolescence. To me personally I felt that I could not provide to them
these full condition if I stayed like I was. Thus, two years ago my family and I started what I
consider be the most challenged experience in our lives. We left behind everything and came to a
new country to live our dream.
I never have been more outside my comfort zone since I came here in the United States.
And the same is true in respect to my family. I know that each one of them have been faced
enormous challenges, especially my wife. Each experience that I have been here was help to be

more humble, patient, teachable, hopeful, and trust God. I confess that I thought that it could be a
little bit easy than it really is. Nevertheless, the more time we spend here we can feel more
familiar with the situations and now we can manage almost everything well. I was thinking that
like in a school we passed for a learning curve during these two years. I now after this period of
time I can realize how great progress we did. I understand that this experience that my family is
living can strengthen us spiritually, emotionally, and physically, to other challenges that we will
be faced in the future.
This semester represented hope to me. I could realize that I need improve my English
skills in all communication aspects. I am not comfortable if my progress in speaking and writing
and I want to spend large amount of time to improve these skills. The communication classes
helped me to recognize other good aspect in communication that I have been struggling for a
long time that is be a better listener. One of my strengths points is learner and such as I am not
happy about my communication skills. My main goal now is to find a job where I can have the
opportunity to practice my communications skills all the time. Although, I can recognize that
some activities that I did this semester are very helpful to increase my communication skills such
as e-portfolio, presentations, team projects, and essays.
The communication class is a wonderful tool to help the students to be prepared to
enter in a world where communications is crucial. I feel that this class could help to develop
some critical reasoning about how we can use communication to achieve our goal for business
and for live. President Henry B. Eyring said, Our education must never stop (Eyring, 2001.)
Having responsibility, belief, significance, arranger and learner as my five strengths I know that
in my life to get education is a process that never will stop. I consider that have had the chance to
understand better each one of these strengths was the apex. I could recognize the beauty in each

strengths and what I need to do to leverage them. Also, I could notice that there are some
strengths that I want to develop as soon as possible. I love the declaration of President Henry B.
Eyring that said, The Lord knows both what He will need you to do and what you will need to
know. He is kind and he is all-knowing. So, you can with confidence expect that He prepared
opportunities for you to learn in preparation for the service you will give. (Eyring, 2001.)
I want to be able to feel the sweet influence of Holy Ghost in my life in order to
recognize what my Heavenly Father wants of me. I trust God and I know that He loves me.
Living outside my comfort zone makes me to narrow my relationship with Him. I noticed that I
was never fasting, praying, reading scriptures, making family home evening, and attending the
temple as I am doing now. The result is that I can feel that my communication with my Heavenly
Father have been better. I hope to be molded in order to be a better person, father, and husband.
In the last general conference Elder Richard. G. Scott give to us a very good advice, he said,
When we are consistently praying morning and night, studying our scriptures daily, having
weekly family home evening, and attending the temple regularly, we are actively responding to
His invitation to come unto Him.... I am not suggesting that all of lifes struggles will
disappear as you do these things. We came to mortal life precisely to grow from trials and
testing. Challenges help us become more like our Father in Heaven, and the Atonement of Jesus
Christ makes it possible to endure those challenges. (Scott, 2014.)
I am glad to live in a time that I can be trained how to communicate properly with my
Heavenly Father and with others. The semester was fabulous because I could see a new approach
where the teachers could mingle the secular and spiritual knowledge. I could understand that we
can have a good influence in the world, we can be ripples of hope where other can see just
business. As a child of God and member of His true church I can help others through of my

example, faith, and testimony. I could realize that no matter whether we are afraid of be outside
our comfort zone. If we adjust our communication with our Heavenly Father, we will receive the
peace and comfort to pass in all of the testing times.
