Mr. Eric Bonin

774 East 3300 South #105
Salt Lake City, UT 84106
Dear. Mr. Bonin,
My freshman year of college, I was first introduced to Splore through a service learning
project for a writing class. From that point on, I have been intrigued by the ideas of dignity
through risk, and the empowerment gained from recreation experiences. I have committed my
study at the University of Utah toward this subject, and would love to do an internship at Splore.
I am currently completing my bachelors degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a minor
in Disability Studies. During my college career, I have studied many subjects from anatomy and
medical terminology to PRT financial management and Recreation Programming and
Leadership. My most recent studies have involved grant writing skills. For a grant writing
assignment I had the opportunity to choose any PRT agency to write a mock grant for and I
chose Splore because I sincerely believe in its mission.
Last December my Therapeutic Recreation class created a bowling fundraiser for Splore,
which gave me an in depth understanding of Splores positive impact on the community. For the
fundraiser we held a silent auction and created a reverse inclusion activity giving participants the
opportunity to bowl with a disability. Making a difference is important to me and my previous
experiences with Splore have been meaningful. This is the reason; I would like to give back to
Splore through an internship using the skills I have gained through my education.
I look forward to meeting with you to talk about the possibility of working together. I
will call you during the first week of December to further discuss the opportunity of an
interview. Thank for your time.
Sincerely,

Jessma Barrani
