Start with a focus activity, like follow the


leader that ends with the children sitting with
hands in their laps.

Match the action with the animal that did the


action in the book.
Questions to ask:
What animal did this (show action)?

Procedure:

Materials Needed:

Read the story and have the children act out


the actions in the book.

Oversized copy of book and easel to hold the


book.

After the story name an animal and see if the


kids can do the matching action.
Another way to do this would be to call up a
child to make an action that was in the book and
have the other children say what animal it was
that made the action in the story.

Make sure the kids arent too close to the book,


I always end up with all the kids crammed
around me. The kids in the back then become
disengaged and find other means to entertain
themselves.
