In circle time discuss different textures with a


box full of odd feeling items.

Distinguish and express what the different


textured items feel like.

Questions to ask:
What does this feel like? Rough, smooth,
scratchy, sharp, hard etc.

Procedure:

Materials Needed:

After exploring different textures with the


box of textures direct children to the table
and give each a brush and paints and three or
four large squares of different textured items
to paint.

Squares of textures surfaces i.e. sand paper,


cardboard, foil, bubble wrap, wax paper, plastic
bags, fabric, etc. Paint.
Paint brushes, paper.
