In1930,HarveyMilkwasborninNewYorkCity.Hewasawellroundedstudentand

operastockanalyst,anassociateonBroadway,andateacher.Milkeventuallydecidedto
becomeapoliticianinSanFranciscoandwaselectedtobeasupervisorin1977.Hegained
manysupporters,butalsogainedopponents,includingDanWhitewhoassassinatedMilkin
1978.Whiteturnedhimselfinandwassentencedtoaveryshortconvictionof6yearsin
