About the Author and Illustrator

Chrie B. Stihler is an elementary school teacher and the author of other picture books set in
Alaska like The Giant Cabbage: An Alaska Folk Tale and Polar Polka: Counting Polar Bears in
Alaska. She lives in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Michael Bania is the author and illustrator of Kumak's Fish and
Kumak's House. She lived for almost 20 years above the Arctic Circle
and now lives in Wrangell, Alaska.
