Design Attributes For Rural Setting

The students works and case studies have gone, to certain extent, to
prove that rural tourism has a great potential for future development.
The following design attributes of an acceptable and good sustainable
design approach can be summarised as below.

1. Eco & environmentally friendly to the nature

2. Natural ventilation and air-movement through habitable and functional
spaces
3. Use of traditional building form & design
4. Use of landscape to modify the micro-climate
5. Minimal cutting of contours, trees and vegetation
6. Minimal use of active energy throughout the design
7. Use of local & natural building materials
8. Develop in-between spaces in the form of courtyards, verandahs,
terraces and shaded walkways or open-to-the-sky paths
