Personal H2S Monitor Policy


The MCBU Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Safety policy has been
changed
g
to p
provide a g
greater level of warning
g to employees
p y
and/or contractors who may encounter potentially hazardous
atmospheres containing H2S.
This practice places the monitor as close as reasonable to the
primary route of exposure (inhalation), which occur through
the nose or mouth

Effective immediately, the MCBU H2S policy no longer allows


personal H2S monitors to be worn on the back of the wearer
wearers

hard hat.

Wear Your Personal H2S Monitor


in the Breathing Zone
The monitor must be worn in the
breathing zone
zone* (green circle)
Wear on the outside lapel of a jacket or
coveralls (outermost garment);
Make sure the sensor is not covered;
Make sure the sensor g
grill is free of dirt
and debris.

*Personal monitors must be worn within the breathing zone (an area
within a one foot radius of the mouth and nose).

cracking and gouging, paying close attention


to the edges of the hard hat.
Replace the hard hat IMMEDIATELY if you

see any cracks, holes or gouges in the


plastic shell.
