Introduction
The core concept of the informational interviewing is that the person is expressing
emotions so the interviewer will know things even if it not said, where researches showed
that this kind of interview represent detailed picture of the situation and it is effective for
occupational information (Alison, 2011). Thus, this assignment has conducted an interview
with Ms. Amal Hameed to have enough information about her job, it compares between
the interview results and a personal research done on the same field and it will analysis
these results to create a conclusion.
Findings
I interviewed Ms. Amal Hameed (28 years) who works as medical warehouse
coordinator in Yousif Mahood Hussain; she was very kind to have a coffee with me at Seef
Mall/ Starbucks at 4:00PM, on the 5th of November 2014. Before we started the interview
I introduced myself and explained the reasons for this interview as she was helpful in
answering all my questions.
YMH is a private company that was established since 1932 for increasing the
healthcare standards in Bahrain and meet the country's different health demand , as the
company became the largest in Bahrain for medical supplies for different important parties
like; Bahrain Ministry of Health (YMH, 2010). I would like to work with YMH in their
medical warehouse as in the modern world; this operation called "International Logistics"
which is about deliver the right item to the right place at the right time, right price and right
conditions. According to studies, Bahrain logistics industry is expanding as the job
opportunities are increasing (ReportCastsShadow", 2008). And based on Bahrain vision
2030, the country will be the Gulf logistics hub (EDB, 2014). But, currently the majority of
logistics jobs are limited to males and non-Bahrainis.
Most of the questions I chose to ask in the interview were to have a comprehensive
knowledge about the job. I begin with a brief explanation of Ms. Amal job where she

talked about her daily tasks. And, I asked her about the reasons for choosing this job, how
she got it, the working conditions like; (stress, working hours, environmentetc.),
difficulties faced and her life experiences that are related to the career. Moreover, I focused
on her educational requirements, type of employee that the company required and most
important skills. Furthermore, the interview included some questions regarding the
industry level in Bahrain today, and other job opportunities in the healthcare filed. The last
part of the interview was about her future goals, and different recommendations for the
person that want the same job.
According to Ms. Amal she applied for the job through her sister as she has a good
relationship with the HR manager and she selected this job because of her interests in the
way of dealing with medicines, I found this position could be a bit challenging because of
the pressure as working according to deadlines, the need of accurate details, no possibility
for mistakes, working outdoor, and dealing with many parties. The most important
educational requirements are; B.S in Finance or Accounting and there are general
certificated required like; Pharmacy, Cold SC and Quality Assurance. And the person
should be able to deal with different people and being updated by taking training courses,
beside the basic skills needed for this position, the person should be multi-tasking, has
interpersonal skills (the ability to work in team), and has thinking skills like; make fast
decisions and give attention to small details.
Healthcare industry is important for people lives and it highly dependence on price
changes like; the recent reduction in some medicines by 70% (OMARI, 2014) which might
resulted in jobs insecurity. Also, there is a clear shortage of employees in the industry but
there are several job opportunities like; pharmacist, Logistician, auditors and trainers.
Additionally, YMH is looking for a fast learner, adapt changes easily, motivated, flexible,
hard worker and on time which is the main concerns of the industry, according to TNT
express general manager stated " Our primary problem was that a lot of our Bahraini

drivers failed to turn up for work" as there is an obvious problem in commitment with
Bahraini workers, which explains the high rate of foreigners (MACDONALD, 2011).
This job could achieve balance between work and personal life according to the
company fixed working hours, and Ms. Amal gave recommendations for people whom
want to apply for this job that as they should take a Quality Assurance course, be
motivated, and be fast learner. Also, she would change some working process, and
increasing training courses.
The information from my personal research is matching by 80% with the interview
results. For example; Ms. Amal stated that the person should be a multi-tasking, problem
solver and creative as researches showed the person should have flexibility and adaptable
beside the basic skills in order to cope with the different situations as the interviewee
mentioned, however the researches focused on the importance of technological skills but it
doesn't mentioned in the interview (NogalesUnifiedSchoo, 2007). In my opinion, the
technology side is lacking of advancement in Bahrain where they mostly depend on
manual transactions also the workers are not fast adaptable of technology because they
usually old as the employment level in Bahrain is low.
Furthermore, the researchers showed the coordinator should be updated about the
laws and international standards regarding the warehouse operations, which doesnt
mention in the interviews, as I think it because there is not enough local laws and lacking
of law enforcement in the country.
Also, Ms. Amal mentioned the business requirements are important for the poison,
which also the researches showed business administration is required and B.S. in
international logistics is required as well. I think, in Bahrain logistics degree is new
specialty so it's still not familiar (Russell, 2014). As for the average salary both Ms. Amal
and researches stated that in Bahrain it's around BD400 as because the B.S holders are
contracting with the Ministry of Works when they hired.

Conclusion
I think I am a suitable candidate for the job, as I am studying logistics which is a
needed degree for the position also being a Polytechnic student means I am able to work in
team, under pressure, according to deadlines, and flexible. And, I have ICDL certificate so
I know the basics of dealing with software. As one of the important aspects of this position
is being adaptable for changes and creativity , when I had an assignment in Geography
subject about the public transportation in Bahrain I didnt found any information on their
website so I had to try the services so I took the bus from my house to Bahrain
Polytechnic. From this experience I learned that I should always makes things on time,
because people will not wait.
Also, I can make quick decisions and solve problems as a coordinator it required
group work, when I was the group leader in Customer Care subject one of the members
does not doing her work so I had to take a decision to do her work and not including her
name in the report.
However, I am not fully suitable for this position as there are some abilities that I
should gain like; communication skills, leadership and calculation. In this job it required to
communicate with different people and listening to their demands so I should be able to
work with them without any problems and any help from others. Add to that, I should be
able to motivate myself, always being updated of latest news, receiving feedbacks that
develop the performance, also I should have a business degree and other general
certificates needed for the position.
