Ladi Najariya

Ladi Najariya, is a contemporary satirical play, depicting a

contrast in the village life portraying the injustice of the society. A
mockery has been painted to expose how the whims of a few
powerful can affect an individual for no whatsoever reason of theirs.
A married woman,Savitri, is living a life full of content in a small
village. Like any other individual shes living in the society by their
terms. A young man, Nambya who lives in the same village falls in
love with this married woman. To act on his feelings for her, he
approaches an influential activist & spiritual Guru called Baba
Sankidas. Seeing the opportunity to fire his own selfish reasons,
Baba Sankidas creates a political atmosphere around the issue and
convinces Nambya to go on a fast. A fast which gains political and
religious momentum, ends up at the feet of the legal judiciary
system. In the meantime, Nambya is under pressure to keep
continuing his fast so as to avoid embarrassment of his family and
Savitri becomes a social outcast for refusing to accept the societys
decision. Theres also a corrupt political system depicted by Baba
Sankidas who seeks to disturb the law and order of the village as he
pleases. Baba Sankidas takes the issue to a whole new level, just to
add to his political mileage. The fast too is taking a toll on Nambyas
health until the Baithak gives their say. In the end, Savitris is
forcibly taken to Nambiya to remarry. Blinded by beliefs of the
religion and under the pressure of the society, Savitris husband too
gave up on her. And when Savitri and Nambiya are about to get
married, they find that starvation killed Nambiya. Savitris whole life
was devastated as she lost faith in her husband who didnt protest a
word for her and the society as well. Instead of protecting a woman
from the injustices in the world, the society just fed her to the
whims of a young mans obsession. Just as they are lifting Nambiyas
body, Savitri unleashes herself onto the Society. An outcry is heard
which echos through the world, showing that the very society that is

supposed to look for the security of a woman, blinds up on itself just

because a few who control the masses conspire.
