I found this recipe online, and was hesitant to try it. I don't always like cooking
crock pot recipes that contain pasta, because the few times I have tried, the pasta
came out gummy. Gummy pasta, for me, is inedible. Gross. But I finally decided to
give it a try, and I sure am glad that I did. Very easy, tasty, and the kids love it which is always a plus for me. I think you will enjoy this one.

Unsalted butter.
Cheese Mountain!
Make sure you cube some Velveeta cheese, too, for the extra creamy factor!
If it seems like you have a lot of cheese, it's because you have a lot of cheese :)
Time to put everything together! Make sure to lightly grease or spray your crock
pot, and start layering away! Start with your macaroni, then add your cheeses and
butter, then salt and pepper to taste, then more macaroni. Repeat until you have
all your ingredients in the crock pot.

Cook on low for 4 hours, making sure to stir it once halfway. Or you can be like me
and "stir it" 5 or 6 times to get a good tasting in :)
Just look at this cheesy goodness!

This heavenly delight was a hit in our household. Keep in mind that it makes a lot,
so it is perfect for a big family or if you need to cook for a large group. You could
very easily half the recipe. If you do half it, make sure to cut the cooking time in
half to 2 hrs instead of 4. Or you can just cook the entire thing, store it nicely in
your refrigerator, and pull some out to reheat when you need a mac and cheese
fix.You could also probably add some breadcrumbs on top towards the end of
cooking time (yum!), although I really like scraping the sides of the crock pot and
stirring that crunchy loveliness into the mac and cheese. It's your meal, you do
with it what you wish. Happy crocking!

Hi! Yes, cook the macaroni per the package instructions first :)

Would the time or anything be any different if you used shredded cheese? Thanks!

for another hour and then check to see if it's to your preference yet. If you like to
have some of the cheese more than melted (with that tasty browned cheese) then
leave in there for another 30 mins or so :)

Wow. This looks amazing! I was wondering, what size is your crock pot? Thanks
for the post!
10.
Thank you! To be honest, I have since cracked my crock pot and had to throw it
out and have not replaced it yet! I do not know the size, it wasn't one of the
small ones. Standard size (if there is one?) :) thanks for the comment! I'm sorry
I'm not much help!
11.
Hi Stephanie! Yes, it really is 6 blocks total. Seems like a lot bc it is a lot :) thus
recipe makes a very large amount of macaroni, so you could half everything to
make a smaller amount at one time :)

Oh crap!! I didnt cook the macaroni first and I just now saw this comment! Should
I add more milk to make it start boiling or is it ruined? I have had it in the crock
pot for about an hr now
21.
Rachel I just did the same thing. Did it work when you added more milk?

Could you use something else besides Velveeta? Too many chemicals for me.
23.
Im really not sure what you could use that would yield the same results, maybe a
vegan type of veggie cheese? I agree about the chemicals. This past year I've
pretty much gone to an almost completely raw diet!
24.
Hi Katrina! I apologize for the late reply! I hope it all turned out ok! I would
imagine that it would stick, but if you get in there and scrape it down several
times throughout cooking, it should decrease the sticking.

Hi Terri! Sorry for the delay! It is a 16 oz box of paSta that is then cooked :) I
don't recall how much it yields after cooking. Hope that helps!

I think yes, but I would maybe add more milk (you could add it during the cooking

so you don't lose any of the cheesiness :)

Heart attack material... I love it. Have never done Pasta in the slow cooker so this
will be my first. Yummy Thanks.
31.
Lol! Exactly! Definitely nota heart healthy dish haha. This one is easy peasy, don't
forget to cook the pasta before crockin'! :)

Adding more milk would probably work for those who added uncooked pasta. I
would guess about 1-2 cups? You might want to specify "cooked pasta" in the
instructions. I had wondered the same thing, so I am glad someone asked you
about it! ;-)
33.
Yes you are correct :) I did specify in the photo directions to cook pasta before
crocking, but I did not in the recipe directions nor did I in the ingredient list!
Yikes! Thank you for pointing that out! As soon as I'm not mobile, I'll be sure to
fix that. Thank you again!

I don't usually make comments but I just had to on this recipe..... HOLY
YUMMINESS!!!!!!!!!! This is perfection at it's finest. I will NEVER make mac and
cheese any other way again. Thank you thank you thank you :)
35.
So good and our kids even loved it! I used a block of Colby with Monterey, mild
cheddar and velveeta. It's so cheesy and easy to make. Great for a large gathering
or to half the recipe for dinner side dish. Thank you!

I just made this for my husband and I tonight and oh my goodness. .. yum! My
husband is a mac and cheese lover to begin with but he said from now on he is
requesting this one instead of boxed.. and it so simple! We add a little more milk
in half way through cooking and a half a stick of butter because it seemed to dry
out after a hour.. so glad I found this recipe on pintrest!

I was so skeptical of this recipe but it was so good! Once I diced all of the
cheese, I was worried because it did look like a ton of cheese, but it all mixed
together nicely.
Thanks for the recipe. Definitely a keeper.

I also want to double for a party, but worried it won't all fit in the crock pot! May
have to make 2 separate batches.

Didn't read the blog post but just the recipe instead so I didn't know you needed
to cook the pasta first. No wonder it doesn't taste good. I'm disappointed because
of the waste of ingredients. Can you change the recipe so that it says to cook the
pasta first?

Do you think I can double the macaroni and keep the same amount of cheese? I
have a large crock pot and that's a lot of cheese.
43.
DO NOT TRY TO DOUBLE!! Just make 2 batches. It is entirely too much cheese
and you cannot even see the macaroni! It's very very tasty but entirely too much
cheese! Not necessary!
44.
Yes..I had to do that after making a double batch. The cheese to macaroni ratio is
out of whack!
45.
I tried and love this recipe! For a little kick add a can of rotel tomatoes! Really
good recipe! I've made it three times in the past month.

This was amazing! There is no such thing as too much cheese. I use to prepare
mac and cheese the old school way..... making a roux, etc.... not anymore! This is
a great recipe! I did substitute one of the cheeses with Fontina.... which is a
beautiful cows milk cheese known for its melty goodness. It is expensive, but,
that was my choice. I certainly included the Velveeta and jack cheese, as well.
Thank - you for this wonderful mac and cheese recipe. I will never make it any
other way again.

Looks wonderful! Will be trying this. cannot believe some of these comments?!
What is wrong with people....at the very beginning it says to COOK the pasta
first, plus look at the pictures...isn't it obvious the pasta is cooked????

Saw this on Pinterest today and made for supper. I used gluten free Tinkyada
elbow mac and only 8oz of each MJ and Colby cheeses (mostly because it was
painful for me to put that much $ in cheese into one dish, haha!) but 16oz
Velveeta. It was plenty cheesy and had great flavor, however my noodles turned
to complete mush. I would recommend if trying GF pasta to way undercook the
noodles before throwing it all in the crock pot. I will definitely try it again. Was
great with peas thrown on top when serving. Thanks!
