Ethical view point

Determinism
In a teaching where determinism is accepted there is no place to evaluate human activities
because all activities of human beings are pre-determined. At the same time, in a teaching
where Akiriyavada (theory of non-action) is accepted there is no place to evaluate to
human activities because all activities of human beings are pre-determined.
In a teaching where materialism is accepted there will be no much room to establish the
evaluation of human behaviour based on ethical. Materialists have their code of ethics but
that does not lead anyone to the ultimate reality. Buddhism has rejected all sorts of
philosophy teachings that discussed the evaluation of human behaviour.
According to Buddhism teachings, man has to face the good and bad results according to
his deeds in this life or in the after life. If only man has his freedom the act, his behaviour
could be evaluated.
The Buddha has accepted the freedom of the will making all human beings responsible
for their activities. All deeds are based on the mind (Cittahaj bhikkhave kammaj
vadami). Good behavior is based on good (pleasure) mind while bad behavior is based
on mind that filled with defilement (Padutta).
Buddhism evaluates human conduct taking the mind (cetana) as the base cause for the
behavior. If the activity looks good and pleasant that could not be counted as a good
activity if the mind of the doer is bad.
Before you act you have to think about the result of the action that you have planned to
do.
The result of the action is good for you and other is a good action.
The result of the action is good for you and bad for other is a bad action.
The result of the action is bad for you and good for other is a bad action.
The result of the action is bad for you and bad for other is a bad action.
