The painting you are viewing is entitled "Veda Vyasa" (“By the Mercy of Vyasa”).

2
This painting, Veda Vyasa, was created for Srila Narayana Maharaja‟s translation and commentary of
Bhagavad-gita. In it, Srila Vyasadeva is giving transcendental vision to his disciple Sanjaya. By his mercy,
Sanjaya was able to see what was happening on the battlefield of Kuruksetra, which was ninety miles away
from where he speaking to King Dhrtarastra. The scene in the painting takes place outside Srila Vyasadeva‟s
asrama.
Srila Prabhupada translates and comments on Sanjaya‟s gratitude in the following verse and purport:
Bhagavad-Gita - Chapter 18.75 - Conclusion--The Perfection of Renunciation
VERSE
vyasa-prasadac chrutavan
etad guhyam aham param
yogam yogesvarat krsnat
saksat kathayatah svayam
SYNONYMS
vyasa-prasadat--by the mercy of Vyasadeva; srutavan--heard; etat--this; guhyam--confidential; aham--I;
param--the supreme; yogam--mysticism; yoga-isvarat--from the master of all mysticism; krsnat--from Krsna;
saksat--directly; kathayatah--speaking; svayam--personally.
TRANSLATION
By the mercy of Vyasa, I have heard these most confidential talks directly from the master of
all mysticism, Krsna, who was speaking personally to Arjuna.
PURPORT
Vyasa was the spiritual master of Sanjaya, and Sanjaya admits that it was by Vyasa's mercy that he could
understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This means that one has to understand Krsna not directly
but through the medium of the spiritual master. The spiritual master is the transparent medium, although it
is true that the experience is still direct. This is the mystery of the disciplic succession. When the spiritual
master is bona fide, then one can hear Bhagavad-gita directly, as Arjuna heard it…
Narada is the direct disciple of Krsna and the spiritual master of Vyasa. Therefore Vyasa is as bona fide as
Arjuna because he comes in the disciplic succession, and Sanjaya is the direct disciple of Vyasa. Therefore
by the grace of Vyasa, Sanjaya's senses were purified, and he could see and hear Krsna directly. One who
directly hears Krsna can understand this confidential knowledge. If one does not come to the disciplic
succession, he cannot hear Krsna; therefore his knowledge is always imperfect, at least as far as
understanding Bhagavad-gita is concerned.
It is to be understood, however, that as Arjuna was fortunate enough to understand Krsna directly, so, by
the grace of Vyasa, Sanjaya was also able to hear Krsna directly. Actually there is no difference between
hearing directly from Krsna and hearing directly from Krsna via a bona fide spiritual master like Vyasa. The
spiritual master is the representative of Vyasadeva also. Therefore, according to the Vedic system, on the
birthday of the spiritual master the disciples conduct the ceremony called Vyasa-puja. [Bhagavad-gita
18.75]

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
First of all I would like to thank to my beloved Srila Gurudeva Om Vishnupada Paramahamsa
Parivrajakacarya Asttotara-sata Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja who descends in this
world like a very special gardener. All of we are like flowers, some are blossoms, some are flourished, some
are fragrant, some are big and some smalls, exotics, perennials, fragiles, exuberants… we are made of
infinitial combination of colours. And Srila Gurudeva is here to pick up and use us to make a very beautiful
decoration to Sri Sri Radha and Krsna. He is taking care, protecting and watering us (sadhu sanga). Our
nuturing depends of our own efforts (sadhana and bhajana). And we have the merciful help of his assistants
who kindly take out the weeds.
Without Your inspiration and causeless mercy certainly we would dryed up. Without You we would be only
one more whitered and useless flowers wretched in the fields of ignorance and misery.
The initiative to make the Vyasa Puja Book 2010 had arisen from my personal necessity and desire to do
some Guru-Seva and Vaishnava-Seva. With humility I pray for You, Srila Gurudeva and all devotees to
forgive my mistakes and forgive if I have committed many offenses. I confess I had the impudence to do
something that certainly I am not able or qualified to do, but somehow I took the risk of.
Thanks, from the core of my heart to all devotes of Sri Sri Radha-Vinod Bihariji, who gave me permission to
be the instrument through all of we could give pleasure to Srila Gurudeva. Thanks to the encouragement
given by my husband, Mahesh das and by my dear friends from Cochabamba, Bolivia Yatra, specialy Sriman

INTRODUCTION
By Śrīpāda Bhaktivedanta Vana Mahārāja

This book, composed by the loving and sincere messages of many vaiṣṇavas from all parts of the world, is a
humble offering unto the lotus feet of oṁ viṣṇu-pāda paramahaṁsa parivrājakācārya aṣṭottara-śata Śrī
Śrīmad Bhaktivedanta Nārāyaṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja in the occasion of his auspicious Vyāsa-pūjā, in January
2010, in Brazil.
The debt of Śrīla Nārāyaṇa Mahārāja‟s disciples is eternal, because the spiritual gift given by him to everyone
in the world is the highest state of love for God. This supreme love, the pure devotional service, is achieved
by the association of a bona fide spiritual master, and is described in the sacred scriptures as follows:
anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyaṁ jñāna-karmādy-anāvṛtam
ānukūlyena kṛṣṅānu-śīlanaṁ bhaktir uttamā
“Uttama-bhakti, pure devotional service, is the cultivation of activities that are meant exclusively for the
benefit of Śrī Kṛṣṇa. It is the uninterrupted flow of service to Śrī Kṛṣṇa, performed through all endeavors of
body, mind and speech, as well as through expression of various spiritual sentiments (bhavas). It is not
covered by jñāna (speculative knowledge aimed at impersonal liberation), karma (reward-seeking activity),
yoga or austerities; and it is completely free from all desires other than the aspiration to bring happiness to
Śrī Kṛṣṇa”. (Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu 1.1.11)
Even not being able to express their gratitude to him through mere material words, his disciples know that
pure devotees are able to taste the language of love, and this is the encouragement to this humble offering
of Love of Flowers.
May these inspiring messages invite all people to surrender unto the lotus feet of Śrī Guru, who is our ever-
well-wisher. The eternal and complete happiness rests at his lotus feet, which are accessible to every souls
who are seeking for divine Love.
dhyana mulam guru murti
puja mulam guru padam
mantra mulam guru vakhyam
moksa mulam guru krpa
“The source of all types of meditation is the form of Guru. The source of all types of worship is the lotus feet
of Guru. The source of all types of mantras is the instructions of Guru. The source of all types of liberation is
the mercy of Guru”. (Guru-Gita (¹))
All glories to Śrīla Gurudeva!
Praying for a particle of the mercy of Śrī Hari, Śrī Guru and the Vaiṣṇavas,
Śrīpāda Bhaktivedanta Vana Mahārāja

I offer praṇāma to the lotus feet of Śrī Gurudeva (who includes śrī dīkṣā-guru and bhajana śikṣā-guru),
guru-varga (our entire disciplic succession) and all other Vaiṣṇavas, to Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī, his elder brother

O Gurudeva, you are so merciful. I offer my humble praṇāma to you and am praying from the core of my
heart that, with the torchlight of divine knowledge, you open my eyes which have been blinded by the
darkness of ignorance.

I offer praṇāma to oṁ viṣṇupāda śrī - śrīmad-bhaktivedānta nārāyaṇa Mahārāja, who is very dear to Śrīmatī
Rādhikā.

varaṁ varenyaṁ puruṣaṁ mahāntaṁ nārāyaṇaṁ tvaṁ śirasā namāmi

Śrīla Nārāyaṇa Mahārāja is expert in describing kṛṣṇa - līlā. He is endowed with the qualities of magnanimity
and sweetness, and he is the best of the great souls. Because he is always relishing Kṛṣṇa‟s sweetness, he is
able to freely distribute that sweetness to others. I bow down and place my head at his lotus feet.

Tridaṇḍī-sannyāsī Śrīla Nārāyaṇa Mahārāja, the crown-jewel of devotees, always keeps in his heart the
lotus feet of Rādhā y Kṛṣṇa, especially when Kṛṣṇa serves Śrīmatī Rādhikā. He deeply meditates on Śrī
Caitanya Mahāprabhu and the internal reasons for His descent. I bow down to the lotus feet of Śrīla
Nārāyaṇa Mahārāja, who possesses innumerable transcendental qualities.

Sri Gurudeva Arati
by Sripada Bhaktivedanta Madhava Maharaja

jaya jaya gurudevera aratika sobha

yamuna-tata vraja-vane bhakta-mano-lobha (1)
All glories, all glories to the splendid arati of Srila Gurudeva, being performed in a forest of
Vraja on the bank of the Yamuna, attracting the minds and hearts of all the devotees.
raga-marga siddhantera murtimanta ati
kesavera priya tumi narayana yati (2)
Gurudeva, you are the embodiment of the philosophy of raga-marga, the path of
spontaneous love, and you are extremely dear to your Gurudeva, Sri Srimad Bhakti
Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja.
gaura-vani dhupa tava sri vedanta dipa
pascatya pracarakera tumi hao bhupa (3)
We perform your arati with the incense of gaura-vani, the teaching of Sri Gaurasundara, and
with the ghee lamp of vedanta, the philosophical conclusions of the Vedas. You are a
monarch among preachers in the Western world. (Bhu also refers to Bhudhara Prabhu, while
pa means palana kara, or “the maintainer”. Thus, this line also means Gurudeva is
travelling to the Western world and maintaining the devotional creeper of Bhudhara Prabhu.
sarasvata-kesava dhara jala sankha dhara
palya-dasi madhu-snehe mugdha caracara (4)
The conchshell water used in your arati is the pure conception coming in the line of Srila
Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura and Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja.
You have struck with wonder the entire world with your moods of palya-dasi, or servitude
to Srimati Radhika, and madhu-sneha, the feeling that Krsna is yours, this mood is belongs
to Srimati Radhika and her group (as opposed to ghrita-sneha, the feeling that you are
Krsna‟s, which is present in the heart of Sri Candravali and her group).
tila phula jini nasa sri-anga sundara
desi videsi bhakta tava puspa sambhara (5)
Your nose defeats the beauty of the sesame flower, and your limbs are very charming. The
Eastern and Western devotees are the flowers used in your arati.
ura pura vraja tirthe bajaya jhanjhara
dama bhajana suro candra bajaya kansara (6)
„Ura‟ means Sripada Padmanabha Maharaja (formerly known as Urukrama Prabhu), „pura‟
refers to Purandara Prabhu, „vraja‟ Vrajanatha Prabhu and „tirthe‟ refers to Sripada Tirtha
Maharaja, all these devotees play the large cymbals, while „Dam‟ Sripada Damodara
Maharaja, „bhajana‟ Sripada Sajjana Maharaja (formerly known as Krsna-bhajana Prabhu),
„su‟ Subala Sakha prabhu (and other devotees who serve in the Publication Department,
publishing the Sri Sri Bhagavata Patrika and other devotional books) and 'ro' Rohini
Nandana Prabhu „candra‟ Ramacandra Prabhu (who are both spreading Gurudeva‟s glories
in Northern India).

sevanande premananda camara dulaya

madhu-kanthe krsna-dasa nirajana gaya (7)
Sripada Premananda Prabhu, who takes pleasure in performing service, is fanning Srila
Gurudeva with a camara, while sweet-voiced Krsna-dasa Prabhu is singing this arati song.
8
(Here 'madhu' also refers to Madhumangala Prabhu, Madhuvrata Prabhu, Madhukara
Prabhu, Madhusudana Prabhu.)

krsna amala sundara bajaya mrdanga

madhava vana akatare mage tava sanga (8)

Krsna-krpa Prabhu (and all the devotees whose names contain the word „Krsna‟, including
Dvija Krsna Prabhu, Tamala Krsna Prabhu, Krsna-karunya Prabhu, Hare Krsna Prabhu and
Kisora Krsna Prabhu), Amala Krsna Prabhu, and all other devotees of beautiful character
who are too numerous to name (including Sripada Akincana Maharaja, Sripada Asrama
Maharaja, Sripada Avadhuta Maharaja, Sripada Bhagavata Maharaja, Sripada Bharati
Maharaja, Sripada Dandi Maharaja, Sripada Govinda Maharaja, Sripada Harijana Maharaja,
Sripada Muni Maharaja, Sripada Nemi Maharaja, Sripada Niskincana Maharaja, Sripada
Parivrajaka, Maharaja, Sripada Sruvak Maharaja Sripada Srauti Maharaja, Sripada Tridandi
Maharaja, Sripada Vaikhanas Maharaja, Sripada Visnudaivata Maharaja, Sripada Yati
Maharaja, Gopavrindapala Prabhu, Gopinatha Prabhu, Nirguna Prabhu, Nrihari Prabhu,
Prana-kisora Prabhu, Tamopaha Prabhu, Radha Kanta Prabhu, Ramesha Prabhu,
Yasodanadana Prabhu, Vrajendranandana Prabhu, Vrndavana Prabhu, Srimati Syamarani
Didi, and Vishnu Dasa, Aruna Verma Sushila Agrawal, Tarun Krsna, Krsna Dasa, who were
the first organisers of Gurudeva's preaching in the USA, and all the devotees who are
engaged in preaching and publication and all other services which are too innumerable to
mention) are playing the mrdanga, or the large drum of book publishing and distribution.
(Sundara also refers to Sundarananda Prabhu, the former personal servant of Srila Gurudeva
(Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja) and Srila Guru Maharaja (Srila
Bhaktivedanta Vamana Gosvami Maharaja), and to Sundara-gopala Prabhu.) Meanwhile,
Madhava-priya Prabhu, Sripada Vana Maharaja and the composer of this kirtana, Sripada
Bhaktivedanta Madhava Maharaja, are humbly hankering for your association.

Sripad Bhaktivedanta Sajjan Maharaja

My Dearest Srila Gurudeva,

On this most auspicious transcendental occasion of your divine appearance day,

I prostrate myself unlimited times at the dust of your divine lotus feet.

“vairagya-yug bhakti-rasam prayatnair

apayayan mam anabhipsum andham
krpambhudhir yah para-dukha-dukhi
sri srimad bhaktivedanta narayanam tam
prabhum asrayami”

You, my dear Srila Gurudeva have induced me to drink the nectar of suddha-bhakti. This nectar is also
containing complete renunciation of this world and the fantamsmaghoric, illusionary, so called happiness,
which brings only suffering and heartaches. Had you not come into my life, or my external existence of
breathing like a bellows in a blacksmith‟s shop, how would I have ever come to know anything about the
transcendental realm of Goloka Vrndavana, where you are an eternal associate of Srimati Radharani, Krsna‟s
most beloved who controls him by her madanakya mahabhava prema.
I have no power to digest any of what you give in your Harikatha and your bhavas that you shower on those
who are benedicted by your sanga. But seeing my destitute and bereft existence of any bhakti or even any
good qualities, you are personally assisting my digestion in the form of your sweet guidance, patience,
loving words, and encouragement. I never was fortunate to have any personal close relationship to my diksa
guru-maharaja, Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Now he has brought me to you for the much
needed nurturing to take the powerful elixir of suddha-bhakti, with the bhava that he and you have in every
atom of your transcendental bodies.
I never was fortunate to have any personal close relationship to my diksa guru-maharaja, Srila
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Now he has brought me to you for the much needed nurturing to take
the powerful elixir of suddha-bhakti, with the bhava that he and you have in every atom of your
transcendental bodies.
Now with your shelter, I have a more closer and deeper relationship with my Srila Prabhupada
than I ever imagined. And I know that he is so happy with your assistance to his mission, the
mission of all our previous Acaryas, and your mission as well. You are continuing the
translation and presentation of so many Vaisnava literatures that he did not have time to give
us. Your Bhaktivedanta purports shine the deep meanings of these literatures.
Please help me Srila Gurudeva, to completely surrender my total prana, words, senses, body, and heart to
your service. I have no hope in this lifetime or any in the future to attain one drop of bhakti-rasa without
your guidance.
I also have insufficient greed to approach the destination to where you are beckoning me to go. I have
complete conviction however that in the association of those who are surrendered to you, and by serving
them, I will gradually be lifted into the region where I can behold your true suddha-sanga.
12
I want to please you in some small way by my service that you lovingly guide me to perform.
Thank you for tolerating me and not kicking me away. Thank you for sometimes mercifully kicking me
instead.
When, oh when, will I have visrambena-guro-seva…

“radha-sanmukha samsaktim sakhi-sanga-nivasinim

tam aham satatam vande guru-rupam param sakhim”
Please help this fallen and decrepit soul to someday enter into the realm where you eternally reside. There,
I will wash with my tears, your delicate lotus feet as I embrace them to my heart….
I have no qualification for this prayer but you are the condensed mercy of Srimati Radharani and the giver of
real life to the lifeless.
I hope and pray, to someday in this world, be able so speak your Harikatha in a way that will please you.
Traveling tirelessly in this world, as you mercifully are doing. I don‟t want to waste a moment of time that I
could use to study your Harikatha and books and the books of my Guru Maharaja and all our Acaryas. By
this, I hope to get a feeling of your „manabhista‟ and dedicate my life to fulfill that desire.
Begging to remain an insignificant piece of dust at your lotus feet,
Swami BV Sajjan…. Aka Durjana

Offering to his beloved diksa-guru
Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja
BY SRILA BHAKTIVEDANTA NARAYANA GOSVAMI MAHARAJA

Singapore, February 11th, 2001

Today is the very sacred anniversary of the
birth of my spiritual master, nitya-lila pravistha
om visnupada Sri Srimad Bhakti Prajnana
Kesava Gosvami Maharaja. He appeared in this
world, on this day, to fulfill the needs of his
dearmost Radha-Krsna Conjugal, Gaura-
Nityananda Prabhu, and Gaura-Gadadhara. He
came to help all the conditioned souls to come
out of this jail. We are in jail - all of us. He
came to save us from the jail of this world.

Who is he? Our Gurudeva is the manifestation of jagad-guru Srila Vyasadeva. It may also be said that he is a
manifestation of akanda-guru-tattva Baladeva Prabhu or Nityananda Prabhu. Since Vyasadeva is Narayana
Himself, we can surely say that Sri Gurudeva is a manifestation of Vyasadeva. He sits on the vyasasana, the
'vyasa seat', the seat on which Vyasadeva used to sit. In other words, he sits on the seat from which
Vyasadeva preached the glory of Radha and Krsna Conjugal all over the world.
Today we should glorify him; we will also glorify guru-tattva and explain how guru-tattva descends from
Goloka Vrndavana. Although we do not have much time - only 2 hours and we will explain all these truths
today. I request all the speakers to speak only 15 to 20 minutes, and glorify guru-tattva. Syamarani will
speak something about guru-tattva and my Gurudeva.
[Syamarani dasi explained how Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja soundly and successfully
defeated the opponents of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who tried to discredit Him by saying that He was not in
the Brahma-Madhva Sampradaya. She concluded by saying that Srila Narayana Maharaja wants his disciples
to follow the same line to preach and defeat opposing philosophies. Sometimes we don't preach because we
are afraid of being defeated, but this is not good logic. By being 'defeated' we will understand what we have
yet to learn. Srila Narayana Maharaja then commented on this final point:]
[Srila Narayana Maharaja:] Don't think that this bhakti philosophy is useless. Don't think in this way;
otherwise you will be very weak and give up the bhakti line. I am hearing about this problem daily, daily,
and daily. So many disciples of Srila Swami Maharaja and others are giving up bhakti and becoming weak.
They are leaving Krsna consciousness and accepting worldly family life. Why? It is because they don't know
this philosophy.
You should try to know all these truths. If you do not know them now, one day you will have to know them.
It may be after thousands of lives, but one day you will have to know all these philosophical conclusive
truths. Don't think it useless to know them. If you don't want to fall down, then know all the philosophical
truths and arguments very, very deeply.
[Srila Maharaja then requested Sripad Bhaktivedanta Aranya Maharaja to speak. Sripad Aranya Maharaja
discussed several pastimes of Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja in his youth, first in his family
life, and then when he moved into the matha and lived with his Guru Maharaja, Srila Prabhupada
Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. Then Srila Narayana Maharaja commented:]
My Guru Maharaja rendered so many direct services to Srila Prabhupada, like massaging him, and he was
always with him for as long as he was present in this world. His glory is like an ocean. You have heard so
many prabhus glorify him, but we can never complete His glorification.
You should know that the backbone of krsna-bhakti is guru-nistha, unalloyed faith in Sri Guru. If one has no
guru-nistha, he has no bhakti at all. In Indian Vedic culture it is the tradition that one should accept a Guru-
a transcendental Guru.
If he or she has not accepted Guru, no one will take any food that he has prepared. No one will even drink
the water which as been offered by him - not even his father or mother. Do you understand what I am
telling? Even if a son or daughter is married, if he or she has not accepted a Guru, then his or her cooking or
offering will not be accepted by that family. First one will have to accept a high class of Guru. Then he or
she can cook and perform all related services. In Indian tradition, in Vedic culture, from ancient times up to
now, it was essential to accept a bona fide Guru. Nowadays, however, the Western breeze is also coming

14
towards India, and thus India is rejecting all these principles. We are especially rejecting Guru. Instead we
think, "What is Gurudeva? Gurudeva is nothing. There is no need of Gurudeva."
Minute by minute people are changing their wives and husbands. They are divorcing so many in one life,
and therefore no one is happy. If you want to be happy you should accept a high class of qualified Guru and
guru-parampara. If you do not do so, you will have to experience the miseries of old age and death. When
you die, whatever you have collected in your life cannot be taken with you. Always remember that death is
sure. No one can save you from death. What, then, will become of these palatial buildings and the many
other things you have collected? Try to understand this. By guru-bhakti our lives will be changed and we will
be happy forever.
What is vyasa? The line that touches the opposite sides of the circumference of a circle, by going through
the central point, is called the diameter or vyasa. What is the meaning? Krsna is the center of all. Not only
this one world, but so many universes - crores and crores (hundreds and hundreds of thousands) and kotis
and kotis (hundreds of millions) of universes are in this circle. Vyasa is touching Krsna and going to all the
innumerable ends of material existence. Who is Vyasa? He who is preaching the glories of Krsna to all,
teaching everyone: "You should serve Krsna; otherwise no one can save you from this endless chain of birth
and suffering." Vyasa is he who is always serving Krsna from one point to another - everywhere in this
world.
Vyasa took birth in between Mathura and Vrndavana, on an island in the Yamuna. Parasara Muni was his
father, and his mother was Srimati Matsyodhari. Parasara was going somewhere and wanted to cross the
Yamuna. He called the boatman, but that boatman was very tired and he sent his adopted daughter in his
stead. Because his daughter had been born from the womb of a fish, a fishy odor emanated from her, but at
the same time she was very beautiful. He ordered her, "Oh, you should take the ferry boat and help that Rsi
Parasara". Ordered by her father, Matsodari took the boat and told Parasara, "You can come. I will take you
across." When she reached the island in the middle of the Yamuna, Parasara looked upon her. At once she
became pregnant, and in a moment she gave birth to a very tall, beautiful, blackish youth of sixteen years.
Who was he? Vyasa. He had come by the mercy of Krsna through Parasara, but he was actually Narayana.
He thus immediately renounced this world.
After some time he divided the Vedas in four - Rg Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda. After
that he wrote the essence of all the Vedas, and that was called Brahma Sutra, Sarika Sutra, or Vedanta
Sutra. After that he wrote thirty-six kinds of Puranas: Puranas, Upa Puranas and Sakha Puranas. Then, for
all persons: for ladies, sudras, and for all those who always lament and who are entangled in worldly
intoxications, he wrote the Mahabharata; and in that he gave the jewel-like Gitopadesa. Prior to this he gave
the catura-sloki Bhagavatam which Narada had taken from Brahma. There was yet no Srimad Bhagavatam,
however, and so he was not satisfied with his life.
Narada came to him and asked, "Why you are so upset"?
Vyasadeva replied, "Gurudeva, I don't know."
Narada then told him, "You have not glorified Krsna and His pastimes of Vrndavana and you have not
discussed how the gopis and all the Vrajavasis serve Him. You should glorify Him, and especially His many
devotees, His preyasis, the gopis, and His beloved Radhika."
Vyasadeva then saw all the pastimes of Krsna and His associates in his trance, and thus he wrote Srimad
Bhagavatam and became happy. The essence, therefore, of all Vedic literature - Upanisads, Puranas, and
Bhagavatam - is Vraja-prema or gopi-prema, and especially the love and affection of Srimati Radhika, who
controls Krsna and always keeps Him in Her heart.
A Guru can give these truths; otherwise it is not possible to understand them. Otherwise we cannot know all
these truths - all these mysterious truths. A Guru gives all this to the sisya so that he can be happy.
You know that Ravana had so much opulence, and so many lakhs and lakhs of servants who lived in palaces
made of gold and jewels. All kinds of opulences were present in Lanka and there were no poor people there.
Ravana had ten mouths and ten heads, twenty eyes, and twenty ears, and he had conquered the whole
world. But he was not happy. He could not control his heart. He could not control his mind. He could not
control his lust. Therefore, who is greatest and strongest person? He who can control his six urges:

vaco vegam manasah krodha vega

jihva-vegam udaropastha-vega
etan vegan yo visaheta dhira
sarvam apimam prthivim sa sisita
15
["A sober person who can tolerate the urge to speak, the mind's demands, the actions of anger and the
urges of the tongue, belly and genitals is qualified to make disciples all over the world."]
If one cannot control his anger, his words, his tongue, and his mind, he cannot do anything to help himself.
You know the ex president of America - Clinton. He was so famous, and he was a very strong personality,
but he could not check his heart and he became entangled with an office girl. Such persons cannot do
anything productive. Therefore, if you want to be happy in this world, try to follow Vyasadeva - try to follow
a real Guru. Previous to writing Srimad Bhagavatam, Vyasa made four disiples: Paila, Sumanta, Jaimini, and
Vaisampayana; and he trained each of them in one of the four Vedas. Especially in South India, the Vedas,
Upanisads and Sanskrit sastras are followed. Nowadays, however, especially those outside of India have
gradually left their traditions. Something is in their blood; they believe in God, but they have given up all
religious principals and instead take meat, eggs, wine and so on. They cannot control the six urges.
Understanding the future, therefore, Vyasa gave one Veda to each of these four disciples, and he gave the
Mahabarata and Puranas to Ugrasrava Suta.
Vyasa served his Gurudeva. He followed the teachings of Narada and he preached the glory of Radha -
Krsna Conjugal everywhere. This is guru-bhakti, the tradition of guru, and the supremacy of Krsna and
Radha's love and affection throughout the whole world. This is Vyasa.
A diciple is he who can serve his Gurudeva as more than his own life and soul. He is not a disciple who is
simply satisfied with the thought, "Oh, Gurudeva has given me a name"; but he does not chant, he does not
realize anything, and especially he is not following the principles of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu which is the
essence of all the Vedas:

trnad api su-nicena taror iva sahisnuna

amanina manadena kirtaniya sada harih

["One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than the
straw in the street; one should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige and should
be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord
constantly."]
If you want to be a disciple of a Guru, you should be tolerant. If you do not have this tolerance, then when
a mosquito comes, you will make a hydrogen bomb to kill it. You will think, "How shall I save myself from
this?!" The whole day and night you will be thinking about this, and krsna-bhajana will disappear. To protect
and maintain our life is essential, but why is it essential? Not for living like dogs, hogs or pigs. If anyone is
spending his whole time maintaining himself, his is like a dog and other nonsense animals. These animals
can do more than you. You are very worried about one child, but dogs can have fifteen or sixteen. Two
times in a year they can have so many children, and there are many other animals who can have still more
than this. So don't think you are more advanced than animals in this way, or that you are so intelligent. No.
They are more intelligent than you.
If you want to be actually intelligent, then always remember your death and your old age. Always remember
that you cannot take anything with you at death, and, if you are not doing bhajana, you will be crushed by
maya - thoroughly crushed. At that time you will lament, "Why could I not do bhajana? I've failed."
Vyasa writes:

labdhva sudurlabham idam bahu-sambhavante

manunyam arthadam anityam apiha dhira
turnam yateta na pated anumrtyu yavan
nihsreyasaya visayah khalu sarvatah syat

["After many births we have attained this human form; therefore before death comes, we should engage
ourselves in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. That is the fulfillment of human life."]
The main object of this human life is to try at once, immediately, to realize who is the Supreme Personality
of Godhead. We should realize, "Who am I? I am not this body." This is the teaching of Vyasa.

16
sa vai punsam paro dharmo
yato bhaktir adhoksaje
ahaituky apratiha
yayatma suprasidati

["The supreme occupation (dharma) for all humanity is that by which men can attain to loving devotional
service unto the transcendent Lord. Such devotional service must be unmotivated and uninterrupted to
completely satisfy the self"].
The purpose of this life is to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna, as stated in these two slokas
which were preached widely by my Guru Maharaja:

aradhyo bhagavan vrajesa tanayas tad dhama vridavanam

ramya kacid upasana vrajavadhu vargena va kalpita
srimad-bhagavatam amalam puranam
sri caitanya mahaprabhor matam idam tatradarah na param

["The Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna, Who is known as the son of the King of Vrajadhama, Sri Nanda
Maharaja, is the ultimate worshipful Lord of all Lords. Similarly His residential abode, the holy place of
Vrndavana, is as worshipful as the Lord Himself. The ways of His worship may be various, but the one which
was conceived by the damsels of Vrajadhama is unsurpassable by any other devotee. Srimad-Bhagavatam
Purana is the unalloyed guidance for approaching the worshipful Lord, which is the ultimate goal of life. This
is the sum total opinion of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. We shall bow down our heads before His opinion,
and not accept another."]

amanayaha praha tattavam harim iha paramam sarva saktima rasabdhima

tata bhinansansa ca jivan prakritir kavalitan tada vimuktansa ca bhavada
bhedabheda prakasam sakalampi harch sadhanam sudha bhaktim

["The authoritative knowledge of Vedas received through the bona fide disciplic succession, establishes the
following fundamental truths:
1. Hari is the supreme absolute truth.
2. He is omnipotent.
3. He is the reservoir of all mellows.
4. The living entities are His separated parts and parcels.
5. The conditioned souls are covered by Maya.
6. The liberated souls are beyond the influence of Maya
7. The entire cosmic manifestation is simultaneously one and different from Him.
8. Suddha-bhakti is the only means to achieve love of Godhead.
9. The goal is to attain love of Godhead.
These teachings have been instructed by Gauracandra Himself."]
If anyone is going on this path, he must be happy. No one will be able to check his happiness.
Hiranyakasipu was like an immortal person. He had so much opulence. He used to control Vayu, the god of
air, Indra, and all other gods and goddesses, but he could find no happiness. A new being - animal plus man
came to him, and in a moment He pulled out his intestines. If you do not follow this principal, then from the
17
beginning of your life, day and night, you'll only be thinking, "Money, money, money." And, after death you
will become money. Realize this. It is to give you this message that we have come here. We have come to
tell you that you should always remember your death. You should always remember Vyasadeva.
Especially those of you who are Indians should remember the place from which you have come. India was
previously known as Bharata. What is the meaning of Bharata? 'Bha' means illumination, or light. What is
that light? Tattva-jnana. You come from that land where Narada Rsi, Brahma, Sankara, and all the acaryas
were present. Transcendental knowledge is everywhere in Bharata. I have come to help you. And for those
of you who are Indian, I have come to remind you that you are coming from Bharata. Don't forget this
knowledge. You can make some money for your maintenance, but what is the purpose of maintaining
yourselves? It is to follow the teachings of Srila Vyasadeva.
In relation to Vyasa, there are four personalities who founded the four sampradayas: Brahma, Rudra, Sri
and Sanaka. From them came the four sampradaya-acaryas, Madhva, Visnu Swami, Ramanuja, and
Nimbaditya respectively, and they all made commentaries on Vedanta-sutra, or Brahma-sutra. Sri
Sankaracarya wrote an explanation of Brahma-sutra called Sariraka-bhasya, or Brahma-sutra-bhasya, and
his philosophy was known as advaita-vada, or kevaladvaita-vada. He claimed that brahma has no shape, and
He is avyakta-anadi. He has no sakti, power. He has no visesa, speciality, and therefore He is nirvisesa-
brahma. Sankaracarya gave all these negative ideas, but he never gave any positive explanation. He said
that brahma satya jagan mitya. This entire world is false, and only brahma is truth ÷ but that brahma is
powerless. There is nothing in him. Sankaracarya's philosophy was therefore called advaita-vada or
mayavada.
After Sankaracarya, Ramanujacarya came and defeated all his arguments. He taught that these are not the
ideas of Vedas. Rather, these ideas are against the Vedic principles. We should not follow this. Only demons
can follow these ideas. No Vedic person can accept the theory that the Supreme Personality of Godhead has
no shape, no attributes, no power ÷ nothing. Ramanujacarya defeated all of the arguments of Sankaracarya
and called his philosophy visista-advaita-vada (specific monism). There are lakhs and lakhs of jivas and lakhs
and lakhs of worlds. The Supreme Personality of Brahma has attributes. Crores and kotis (innumerable) jivas
have come from Him, and this world also comes from Him. The Supreme Personality of Brahma exists along
with this world and the jivas. What was the abhideya, practice, described in Ramanuja's philosophy? It was
bhakti. What was the prayojana, the goal? It was service to the lotus feet of Narayana. Ramanuja accepted
the form of Narayana, His attributes, His power, and also His bhakti. He rejected the mayavadi philosophy of
advaita-vada.
After Ramanuja came Madhvacarya. He established a certain portion of the Vedas, and his philosophy is
called visuddhadvaita or dvaitadvaitavada. In this philosophical understanding there are five differences. You
should explain the five differences.
[Sripad Aranya Maharaja:] Madhvacarya established the philosophy that there is a difference between
brahma and maya, there is a difference between jiva and maya, there is difference between jiva and jiva,
and between different manifestations of maya and maya there are also differences. These five types of
differences are called dvaitavada.
[Srila Narayana Maharaja:] His practice was bhakti and his prayojana was the service of the Supreme Lord in
the form of Vasudeva. Which Vyasudeva? He who has a churning rod in His hand. This form was accepted
by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
After Madhva came Nimbarka, or Nimbaditya, and his philosophy was visuddha- vedaveda, but svabhavika
(natural). He preached that brahma has vikrit, transformed, and it is from brahma that the whole world is
coming. Brahma is alone, but still there are so many jivas and so many associates, like His father and
mother. His dhama is there, but advaita. Caitanya Mahaprabhu did not like this. He took the essence of all
the Vedas - not only part of the Vedas. He fully took all the moods of the essence of the Vedas, Veda's
sarvavesa-bhava, and discovered acintya-bhedabheda-tattva. It is not directly from Krsna that this world and
jivas have come, but rather from His energy. This is called sakti-parinama-vada, transformation of sakti,
energy. Caitanya Mahaprabhu adopted this philosophy because it asserts that everything has not come from
Krsna Himself, but from the power of Krsna. Thus, Mahaprabhu defeated the arguments of Nimbarka's
bhedabheda svabhavika and founded acintya-bhedabheda. We can not imagine this truth by our mental
speculation. It can only be understood through words or the Vedas ÷ by amnaya, the Vedic literature which
has been accepted by our guru-parampara. He established the service of Radha-Govinda, Radha-Gopinatha,
and Radha-Madana Mohana. What was the sadhana, practice? That practice begins with vaidhi-bhakti and
then changes to raganuga- bhakti. By that practice one can achieve Vraja-prema, and this is the supreme
goal of life.
If anyone accepts this practice or goal he is in the line of Vyasa. We should try to realize all this. Somehow
you should know the essence of krsnaöbhakti, that bhakti which Caitanya Mahaprabhu brought from Goloka
18
Vrndavana ÷ gopi-prema. This is the goal of our life. If we accept this, then our Vyasa puja is complete. The
followers of Sankaracarya 'worship' Vyasa, but they don't follow him. They say Vyasa was ignorant because
he wrote that brahma is anandamaya-bhyasa, blissful. The followers of Sankaracarya reject this. They say
that brahma is 'bliss', but He is not 'blissful'. In other words He is not a person. This is not service to Guru. A
disciple must obey his Gurudeva and serve his Gurudeva. Serving Gurudeva outwardly by worship, and at
the same time cutting the arguments and teachings of Gurudeva, is not duty or service of a disciple ÷yet
Sankaracarya did that.
Why did he do so? It was because Narayana ordered him in that way, to save Himself from being disturbed
by demons who came to Him in the name of bhakti but who really only wanted Him to fulfill their selfish
desires. Narayana told Sankaracarya, "You should preach in this world, 'You are brahma. aham
brahmasmi. sarvam kalvidam brahma. tat-tvam-asi.'"
There are so many things to discuss, but somehow try to know this: If you want to be happy in this world,
then accept a high class of transcendental Guru who knows Gita, Bhagavatam, the Puranas, and Veda
sastra, who can remove all doubts, and who practically chants harinama sankirtana following trnad api
sunicena taror iva sahisnuna. He practices bhakti as received from Vyasa, Narada, and all other bona fide
spiritual masters. He serves and glorifies his Gurudeva throughout the world, as we see in the lives of Srila
Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Gosvami, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Srila Bhaktividanta Swami Maharaja, my
Gurudeva, and so on. If you want to follow, you can be happy.

Offering to his beloved siksa-guru
Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
Lecture given in Bombay, 1994 for the occasion of
the disappearance day of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami
Prabhupada
By Tridandisvami Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana
Gosvami Maharaja
At the time of his divine departure from this world,
Parama-pujyapada Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami
Maharaja ordered me, "You should serve me by
performing my samadhi ceremony." He knew the
meaning and significance of entering samadhi, as
well as the proper procedures to be performed at
that time.

Samadhi is a Sanskrit word consisting of the two syllables, sama-dhi. Sama means "the same" and dhi
means "intelligence." When the pure devotee takes samadhi, it means that upon departing from this world
he enters the same level, position and spiritual mood as the personal associates of his worshipful Deity. He
is serving in that realm according to his own svarupa (constitutional form), with equal qualities, intelligence
and beauty as those associates. Srila Swami Maharaja‟s worshipful Deity is Srimati Radhika, and he serves
Her under the guidance of Her personal associates, the manjaris.
Your Srila Prabhupada has preached about Lord Jagannatha-deva, Sri Krsna-Balarama and various
manifestations of Sri Sri Radha-Krsna. But from his writings, books and personal meetings and visits, I am
absolutely sure that his worshipful Deity is Srimati Radhika, and he sees Sri Krsna as Her Beloved.
The Complete Conception
At the time of Srila Swami Maharaja‟s entering samadhi, his desire was to assist Srimati Radhika in that very
place where She renders Her services to Sri Krsna. He was one with the mood of Her maidservants, and he
requested my service at that time.
The leader of the manjaris, Sri Rupa-manjari, serves Srimati Radhika when Radhika wants to meet with
Krsna. In the dark of night she dresses Radhika in black clothes, and ties Her ankle-bells in such a way that
they will not make any sound. At the time of dressing Radhika, she may decorate Her with a necklace, with
the Syamantaka jewel as its centerpiece. At that time she may say, "This jewel is the friend of Sri Krsna‟s
Kaustubha jewel." In this way, Radhika is reminded of Her pastimes with Lord Krsna and bestows all Her
mercy upon Sri Rupa-manjari, who always gives so much uddipana (inspiration) to Her bhava.
If one has the mood to assist in his Guru‟s service to Sri Rupa-manjari or Srimati Radhika, he renders the
best service. I do not know why Srila Swami Maharaja gave me the mercy of giving him uddipana as he
entered samadhi. I performed this service by decorating him with tilaka and by writing certain sacred
mantras with sandlewood paste on his chest. These decorations indicated his personal services to his
worshipful Deity, Srimati Radhika.
Just before his departure from this world, he requested me to sing Sri Rupa-manjari-pada:

sri rupa-manjari-pada, sei mora sampada,

sei mora bhajana-pujana
The lotus feet of Sri Rupa-manjari are my dearmost treasure. They are the topmost object of my worship
and inner devotional practices. (Sri Rupa-manjari-pada 1)

sei mora prana-dhana, sei mora abharana,

sei mora jivanera jivana
Her lotus feet are my most cherished wealth, more dear than my own life. They are the exquisite ornament
of my life, and indeed, the very essence of my existence. (Sri Rupa-manjari-pada 2)
This is the best sankirtana of Sri Rupa-manjari, who can lead us to Radhika‟s service. While I sang this
bhajana, I saw that Srila Swami Maharaja‟s face was sometimes colored with one transcendental mood and

20
sometimes with another. I requested my brahmacari, Sesasayi prabhu, to sing with me as I personally
performed this kirtana for him – just as I did for my Gurudeva at the time of his entering samadhi. There
were many similarities between my diksa-guru, Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja, and Srila
Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja. I did what Srila Swami Maharaja ordered me to do for him, and I feel so
fortunate that he gave me this service.
Also just before his departure, he ordered me: "You should advise and help my disciples, all GBC (Governing
Body Commision) devotees, and all devotees connected with me."
I did not think I could help them at that time, for I considered them higher in rank than myself. I thought,
"They have so much guru-nistha, faith in the lotus feet of their Gurudeva. They are far more advanced than
I am. They know the conclusive truths of the Krsna Consciousness philosophy better than I. How can I help
them?" But my siksa-guru gave some inspiration in my heart.
By Srila Swami Maharaja‟s inspiration I came to know that many disciples were misunderstanding his real
identity. They were guessing that his constitutional form is that of a cowherd friend of Krsna. When I heard
this, I experienced so much pain in my heart for them – they did not have accurate knowledge or feelings
about him. I realized that it is my duty to give them faith in the complete conception of him, that he is in
madhurya-rasa. Sakhya-rasa is included within madhurya-rasa, so sakhya-bhava is also within him.
How Deep is the Mountain
There are two ways to see our Gurudeva, and in this connection an analogy can be given of the Himalayan
Mountains. The height of the Himalayas is one thing and its depth is another. We can somewhat see its
height, but we cannot see what is hidden deep within the ground. We saw that Srila Swami Maharaja
collected a large number of disciples throughout the world in practically no time; we saw all varieties of his
height. He loved everyone, and everyone felt, "He loves me so much." We also saw this in our Guru
Maharaja.
However, we cannot know how deep Sri Guru is. Srila Swami Maharaja used to sing Sri Gurvastakam with a
profound mood and tears in his eyes – in samadhi. He did not see who was looking at him and who was not,
who was taking part and who was not. He was simply absorbed in singing and playing his karatalas.
The first four verses of Sri Gurvastakam contain very high subject matter that we can realize and see. But at
present we cannot realize the next two verses:

sri-radhika-madhavayor apara
madhurya-lila-guna-rupa-namnam
prati-ksanasvadana-lolupasya
vande guroh Sri caranaravindam
At every moment Sri Gurudeva is experiencing intense greed in his heart to taste the unlimited sweetness of
the holy names, forms, qualities, and pastimes of Sri Sri Radha-Madhava in Vrndavana. I offer my prayers
unto the lotus feet of Sri Gurudeva. (Sri Gurvastakam, verse 5)

nikunja-yuno rati-keli-siddhyai
ya yalibhir yuktir apeksaniya
tatrati-daksyad ati-vallabhasya
vande guroh Sri caranaravindam

Sri Gurudeva is always present with the sakhis, planning the arrangements for the perfection of Yugala-
kisora‟s amorous pastimes (rati-keli) within the kunjas of Vrndavana. Because he is so expert in making
these tasteful arrangements for Their pleasure, he is very dear to Sri Radha and Krsna. I offer my prayers
unto the lotus feet of Sri Gurudeva. (Sri Gurvastakam, verse 6)
Only one who is equal to his self-realized Guru can understand his depth. A kanistha-adhikari (novice
devotee) and a madhyama-adhikari (intermediate devotee) cannot guess how deep his feelings are. They
cannot begin to imagine the fathomless moods of krsna-prema and radha-prema in their Guru‟s heart.
Without being an uttama-adhikari, a topmost pure devotee, one cannot understand.
Kanistha- and madhyama-adhikari devotees can see his height, his aisvarya (opulence), the way in which he
collected disciples and very quickly preached all over the world. But it is more valuable to see his depth. He
21
has not collected disciples just so we can experience his height. Ultimately, he brought us to him with the
sole aim of giving us his deep thoughts. Of course this will take time; it could take many births to realize
this.
When I look towards him and remember his orders, I become moved, knowing that he is engaged in
nikunja-yuno rati-keli-siddhyai. The main reason he came was to give this very same service. He came to
obey the orders of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Nityananda Prabhu and Sri Sri Radha and Krsna, but he had to
spend a great deal of time laying the groundwork for this.
His Gurudeva was in a similar situation. Srila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura has said, "I
came to give some valuable conceptions in raganuga-bhava, but I could not do so in the way I desired. Most
of my life was spent in sweeping and cutting jungles."
This type of preaching is essential. Without preaching vaidhi-bhakti the main thing cannot be given, because
vaidhi-bhakti is a prerequisite for further advancement. Srila Sarasvati Thakura also used to say that when
the Mayavada philosophy is present, there can be no preaching of bhakti. We will therefore have to cut the
jungles of atheism, Mayavada, sahajiyaism and other non-Vedic philosophies. We will have to spend time
defeating their arguments.
Now I think that by obeying Srila Swami Maharaja‟s orders, I have been fortunate to play a small role in this
deeper mission. If I can inspire raganuga-bhakti in the hearts of devotees, I will see that I have fulfilled the
orders he gave me. This is the best service I can render to his lotus feet.
When you are situated in raganuga-bhakti, you will be able to factually see his relationship with Sri Sri
Radha and Krsna in gopi-bhava. Then you can deeply think of his services to the Divine Couple in nikunja-
yuno rati-keli-siddhyai
He used to sing daily, "Jaya radha-madhava jaya kunja-bihari gopi-jana-vallabha jaya giri-vara-dhari."
Srila Swami Maharaja has so much transcendental greed to serve Kunja-Bihari. A cowherd boy does not
have these sentiments and exalted conceptions. The reference to gopi-jana-vallabha in this song is also in
our gopala-mantra, and it filled his heart. He desired to give the service of gopi-jana-vallabha as performed
by the gopis.
He saw that there were only a few in this world who were qualified for this; the number could be counted on
one‟s fingers. Thus, in order to gradually bring his audiences to a level of understanding, he preached about
Lord Jagannatha-deva and established Deities of Sri Sita-Rama and Sri Krsna-Balarama.
The gopis also spoke about Rama-Krsna in Srimad-Bhagavatam, but they were not referring to Balarama.
Balarama is sometimes called Rama, but the gopis were indicating Ramaniya-Krsna, that is, Sri Krsna the
enjoyer of Sri Radha. The gopis‟ Rama is Krsna. Qualified devotees, who have actually received the mercy of
their Gurudeva, will understand this. The best service I can render to his lotus feet is to give even an atom
of the feelings of these exalted conceptions to his disciples and followers.

Rohininandana das, from South Africa

My Dearest Srila Gurudeva

Kindly accept my most sincere dandavat pranams at your lotus feet.

I will always remember the day that I met His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in
Pietermaritzburg South Africa at the Sanathan Vedh Dharam Sabha and was totally moved by His holy
presence. I was young, searching and by then, had the opportunity of meeting many saintly and holy
persons through my association, most of whom I have forgotten, He were different. My second meeting
with Him was at the evening program at the City Hall when He boldly spoke of the power of the holy name.
My mind was cleansed of all doubt that I had about religion & spirituality. I found the purpose of being born
as a human. It seemed as if he had spiritually “brain washed” me and sowed the seeds of divine knowledge
and wisdom which is what I was seeking all along.
I am now very blessed to have taken shelter of your lotus feet and to be guided back home, back to
Godhead through your firm yet kind instructions.
I am unable to estimate your glorious position and qualities but I do know that undoubtedly you have been
chosen by the Lord to spread His name in the footsteps of the great acharya‟s and to save man from the
degradation of this material birth. When I associate with your form, your books, your temples and devotees
I feel your divine presence in them and I am every so grateful that you have chosen me to be part and
parcel of this parampara. Had it not been for your mercy and kindness I too would have been engrossed in
total ignorance.
O! Srila Gurudev!
Please help me to chant the glories of the Lord like you do so perfectly.
Please help me to serve and love others as you do so perfectly.
Please help me to remember the pastimes of the Lord as you do so perfectly.
Please help me to render service to the Vaishnava‟s and the spiritual movement that you have created and
do so perfectly.
Please help me to remember the Lord at the time of my death and never return to this material world of
suffering.
Begging to be your servant

Dear Srila Gurudeva,

As we offer prostrated obeisances with a straw

between our teeth, hands and feet tied with
rope allow us to smear our body with the dust
from Your Lotus Feet and in this way we will
be able to form into words Your Glorious
Qualities regardless of our fallen conditioned
state.

To glorify such great personality as You are it is hard for us to find the most appropriate description being
such insignificant jivas struggling in this material existence. But Your mercy is unfathomable that You
accepted us, giving us the chance to serve You ... that is a LOT Of Mercy.
And this is not so difficult of You Srila Gurudeva because You are the most munificent expansion of the Lord
of the Heart Sri Hari and the embodiment of Pure Love Srimate Radhika. You take this mission by heart to
come and rescue the budding seeds Srila Swami Maharaja Prabhupada kindly sow in this barren land of
mayavadis.Because of Your attachment to Him and to your loving Spiritual Master Srila Bhakti Prajnana
Kesava Goswami Maharaja you patiently watered the heart of the young bhakti practitioners so that
somehow they would improve and make advancement. Your coming is just in time when everybody were in
confusion, desolate and drying up.
We were one of those practitioners who were gasping for breath. To whom we could turn to? Sri Krishna
seemed to be very far regardless of our sadhana. Somebody even commented that why is everyone falling
away after doing all those austerities and regulative principles? Doing huge book distribution and collections,
big programs, impressive preaching arrangements yet why everything ended just like that?
And then you came with the siddhanta explaining that one should not just be attached to
externals activities or to show to people that we are fired up and that we are fully Krishna
Conscious. What matters most is if our hearts are not becoming soft for the Divine couple to
enter and sit? If what we are doing externally is making our hearts thicker in false ego or
instead it is ready to offer respect to others and also it is ready for accept if we commit
mistakes?
Gurudeva, we are far from real devotion. And we realized that we can never have it not unless
we will have your mercy. At this point in our spiritual lives we are so grateful that we were
connected to You and this fact make the things easier for us.And we would like to proclaim to
the three worlds that Srila Narayan Gurudeva has that power to make our hearts softer, keeps
our bhakti watered and continously growing and always keeping us free from fear. That is your
power and greatness Srila Gurudeva and kindly keep us always in Your fold or else literally
speaking and we really realized the lines of GURUDEVA Song which it is said that we could not
maintain our lives any longer... that thin line of your merciful glance keeps us breathing in this
jungle of material existence until such time we are fully purified and would come to that stage
of Pure Bhakti!

« First of all I offer my humble Obeisances, Dandavat Pranaam to the Lotus feet of my Diksha
Guru, His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja and then to all my
others Siksha Gurus specially our Beloved Eternal Jagat Guru Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta
Prabhupad Swami Maharaj ».
Our Most Beloved Patita Pavan Gurudev,
This is my first offering to You as my Spiritual Father, on this occasion of Your Sri Vyas Puja,
after having received Diksha in Germany in 2007. I have been in Krishna Consciousness since
the last 28 years and following thoroughly the teachings of Our beloved Swami Maharaj. I,
Radhakanta das, have chosen a Grhasta life to continue my devotional life with Bhakti and
Sadhana in the love for Radha and Krishna. With the association of my Dharam Patni, Vrnda
devi dasi, who also received initiation from You in Germany, we have three children namely
Yudhisthir Ras Bihari das, Parikshit Adidev das and Vichitra Ashasa Lila dasi, all Your disciples.
We all pay, our humble obeisances and beg You for excuse all offences and aparadhas
committed in our life towards the vaisnavas and we are seeking Mercy from You.
Gurudev, I was a fervent servant of Srila Prabhupad and after so many years He has been so Mercyful to
have driven me and my family to a Diksha Guru. Thanks a lot to H.H. Bhativedanta Vana Maharaj, who
visited our home in Paris and convinced us to accept a Diksha Guru in our life. He also told us that serving
Srila Narayan Maharaj was none different from serving Srila Prabhupad. He assured us not to change
anything in our services at home, but just to accept Diksha from a bonafide Guru and continue serving Srila
Prabhupad.
He invited us to come to the Festival of Germany. When we arrived there we were so happy to meet so
many of our French devotees, so many Prabhupada‟s disciples who knows us well and they all welcomed us
with so much love. We were emotionned and we thanked Srila Prabhupad to have driven us till You
Gurudev.

Your Darshan was like if we are meeting Swami Maharaj Himself after so many years of services in His
Iskcon. I also think that having You as our shelter is the fruits of our acts.
Bestowed by the Mercy of Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga and the Pure Vaisnavas, our eldest son Yudhisthir has
started his Bhakti practice very young. At the age of 3, he was already chanting Vaisnavas songs. At seven,
he started reading Bhagavat Gita, performing Aratis and leading kirtans in the Iskcon temples and he even
did a Bhagavat Gita lecture on the MBC TV in Mauritius. His brother Parikshit and sister Vichitra have
followed his path in Glorifying the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna and Sri Radharani and the Gurus. Little Vichitra
has got the opportunity to sing for You in Italy in 2008 and Yudhisthir welcomed You with his young voice in
France in 2009 by chanting the Guru Pranama. Our children, a new generation devotees, have really
received an invaluable mercy « Gurudev Kripa » from You.
Since two years we celebrate Your Vyasa Puja at my place in such an auspicious way that we feel Your
presence among us. Our children glorifies their Gurudev in every programs that we participate whether in
Mauritius or in France. And they give a good image of their educations in Krishna Consciousness. We all
need Your protection and Mercy to continue in this way.
I beg You, Dearest Guruvar that we remain for ever, under the shelter of Your Lotus feet and desire Your
protections on our whole family and continue to guide us on the path to our ultimate destination, Back to
Godhead.

The secret of the steady prayer

Like the breathing is the steady prayer,

ever-shining from the inside of the soul.
The light of the Creator that never goes.

The indelible light gleams unalteredly

as if God's breath would blow in the inside of the praying one
and this human would see God in all big and
small miracles.

This praying beams full of joy,

it happens without words, ostentation, without external cognition
but only in silence, in the depth and beyond all thoughts

A real prayer stops asking

because the Lord never forgets one of His creatures.
A sincere prayer is grateful for sorrow and joy
because it sees that every moment of life is a present from God.

Melissa Hornung, July 2006

But then I saw: God´s true goblets
Long ago You have already been with me.
As unique goblets

has found mine.
But a useful goblet must
While I realised how much worldly suffering go the way through fire.
there is still in my mind It burns in true love
YOU said: only so it can come into new existence.
My child, always you are loved by me.
The will of the lover becomes

I wanted to devote myself Only a fired goblet will be useful

Dearest Srila Gurudeva,

One and half year ago I didn‟t know yet that I would meet you. I didn‟t even think that I could meet such a
pure person. I thought the disciples of Srila Prabhupada, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja, had this rare
opportunity to meet him because they are more pious than me, what is certainly true, and I thought
that it was impossible for me.
At this time I was completely perplexed. Despite of reading Srila Prabhupada‟s books and talking to the
devotees I didn‟t really know who bona fide guru was, what real bhakti was and what I should really do to
gradually for come to this point. I couldn‟t find real answers to my essential questions from anywhere and I
began to search answer to the question „what I should do‟ in astrology. Simply chanting of Hare Krishna
maha-mantra, what I have been doing for more than fifteen years was not enough for me. Something was
missing.
When your disciple and my friend came to me at this time and gave me your two books, I hesitated to take
them with me because of my foolishness and ignorance but I couldn‟t refuse saying “no, thank you”. I felt it
would be improper. When I came to my home I simply put these two books (Śri Manah-śiksa and Śri
Śiksastaka) on the shelf and I didn‟t even look them inside. Time was passing by and I was still trying to
find answers to my questions but this time through the medium of internet. I was finding your lectures and
they were interesting for me. I also found some video on youtube titled: “Narayana Maharaja blasphemes
Śrila Prabhupada”, and I was really impressed how wonderfully Śrila Narayana Maharaja was commenting on
the verse 9.32 from Bhagavad-gita. In the meantime there was some discussion going on on one of the
Polish internet forum about Śrila Narayana Maharaja and I was disgusted because of its form of talking. This
inclined me to find real truth: who Śrila Narayana Maharaja was and why I could not hear from him being in
ISKCON and What he is really teaching?
Then I begun to read these books which were given to me by my friend and……...I was REALLY IMPRESSED.
With every page I felt more and more peace of mind and begun to get answers to my essential questions.
Next I begun to read some books and pamphlets from the purebhakti.com and light of real knowledge fell
over me. What really shocked me was your explanation of the word “guru-devatatma”. You wrote in your
book “Guru-devatatma”: “first, we must think that guru is our atma, our life and soul”.
At that time I decided to take initiation from your wonderful and really unique person, in front of whom the
real meaning of the Śri Guru Pranama verse started to manifest before me, because till that time it was
simply meaningless. I spoke to my wife that you really answered to my previous questions and doubts and
she said: “you have found your real guru”.
Gradually I begin to understand that without your guidance in every second of my life I can‟t truly say that I
am really living. Without it there is only pain and suffering and not real life, therefore I pray to you to guide
me always, in every moment of my life.
Meeting you in my life is simply a miracle.

Dear Gurudeva!
Please accept my humble obeisances onto your lotus feet.

namaḥ oṁ viṣṇupādāya

nārāyaṇa iti nāmine

My name is Premdas, I was recently initiated by

your grace on Venice Festival in June 2009. I live
in Poland with my family near to Warsaw (the
capitol of Poland in the central part of country).

On this auspicious day of your Vyasapuja I would like to wish you all good fortune in following and serving
your beloved Deities Sri Sri Radha Vinoda Bihari in the mood of Srimari Radharani.
Also I would like to say thank you for your preaching in the western countries which brings prema-bhakti to
such poor souls as me that lives with the spiritual hope and happiness and loving emotions that coming only
from the relationship with you and your nearest associates.
I came to Krishna Consciousness throught Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami's books. Than I was looking for the
meaning of his books in ISKCON but I was constantly unsatisfied and restless there because I could not find
the path of prema-bhakti. Because of my experiences there I even lost my faith in the possibility of finding a
bona fide spiritual master in this very lifetime, although I knew, that I needed him very much.
Somehow there was some conviction within my heart telling me that I should accept my Gurudev only by
heart and not by any other means.
Later, by my unexpected good fortune, I meet you and it was like spiritual illumination. In fact I understood
in my soul for the very first time in this life the meaning of this verse:
oṁ ajñāna timirāndhasya jñānāñjana śalākaya
caksur-unmīlitaṁ yena tasmai śrī -gurave namaḥ
When I saw you for the first time in my life in association of your nearest disciples with my own eyes, and
when I heard you with my own ears, my stone like heart completely melted with joy, love and devotion.
Than I already knew that I was looking for you always knowingly or unknowingly, both in my material
conditioned life and in my conscious spiritual search. In this very moment I saw in my heart that all of my
experience, these good and bad, I was going through in my life, led me to meet up with you and to accept
your grace as grace of the bona fide spiritual master.
You are the embodiment of Mahaprabhu and Nityananda Prabhu giving mercy upon me. You are the
manifestation of all my expectations in my spiritual life. You gave me the meaning of my life. By your grace I
understood that now I can be my really self.
So in this auspicious day of your Vyasa puja looking for be always near to you, let me glorify you with this
words:
Long live Gurudeva! Let me always keep you in my heart!
Although I do not understand your position and your greatness truly, I attempt to set my heart onto your
lotus feet.

Dearest Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja

Please accept my humble obeisances at your holy lotus feet.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada and to all vaisnavas.
Dear Maharaja, thank you so much for appearing in this material world and spreading the glories of pure
bhakti all around. Some criticize that you and your „agents‟ are preaching to the devotees from
ISKCON, but I bow down to you again and again being grateful for that and hope you never stop.
I also want to thank you for your books, especially for your wonderful commentary on Śrila Prabhupada‟s
„Nectar of Instruction‟ which was a big revolution for me. I felt like Śrila Prabhupada is speaking himself. It
was so unpopular to admit that I did not have full faith in my guru, and I was unhappy thinking that having
doubts is only the result of my impurity.
Now I am the same unqualified and full of anarthas person but by some good fortune I have got in contact
with you (through books, videos and your wonderful disciples) and I am convinced that you are the real
pure representative of Lord Śri Krsna in this world. For the first time in my life the verse:
saksad-dharitvena samasta-śastrair
uktas tatha bhavyata eva sadbhih
kintu prabhor yah priya eva tasya
vande guroh śri-caranaravindam
Make sense. I am so happy about it, I feel like my life has started again.
I got harinama initiation in 1995 from Śrila Indradyumna Swami Maharaja, to whom I am very much in
debt, and I pray to be blessed by getting diksa initiation from you, dear Maharaja. Now I have one son
he is 2 years old and I chant only 6 rounds of Maha Mantra a day, but in a few months I hope to
improve.
In this auspicious day of your Vyasa-puja I pray for your blessing that I become more serious in my efforts
in spiritual life and have taste for hearing Krsna-katha and chanting holly Name.

Srila Gurudeva! Although it is impossible for me fully understand your glories I will try humbly express my
feelings.
I am so thankful to you for changing my life. You offered me a chance to gradually move from materialistic
ignorance to the divine couple Sri Sri Radha Krsna. In this way I can fulfill the mission of human life. I am so
fortunate that your disciples empowered by Your Divine Grace brought me to your lotus feet. Now I got real
understanding what sadhusanga means and what is taste of Krsna katha. Thanks to your mercy, after many
years, I got so much realization what Krsna consciousness really is.
Although I am completely useless one I approached you with faith because you are adhama janara bandhu.

Initiated name: Gopa-murti Dasa (grhastha asram) (Given by Bhagavan prabhu-ISKCON-1977

First and 2nd Initiations given by Srila Narayana Maharaja in 2003
Civil name: Jordi Salvat - Living in Barcelona (Spain)
Dear Gurudeva: I offer my humble pranama to Om Visnupada 108 Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana
Maharaja, who is very dear to Srimati Radhika.
Srila Narayana Maharaja is expert in describe Krishna-lila. He is endowed with the qualities of magnanimity
and sweetness, and he is the best of the great souls. Because he is always relishing Krishna‟s sweetness, he
is able to freely distribute that sweetness to others, I bow down and place my head at his lotus feet.
Tridandi-sannyasi Srila Narayana Maharaja, the crown-jewel of devotees, always keeps in his heart the lotus
feet of Radha and Krishna, especially when Krishna serves Srimati Radhika. He deeply meditates on Sri
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the internal reasons for His descent. I bow down to the lotus feet of Srila
Narayana Maharaja, who possesses innumerable transcendental qualities.
I bow down my head onto all vaisnavas feet. Only by their inspiration and example, life is possible in this
breathless world and depredated planet.
ei kali-kale ara nahi kona dharma
vaishnava, vaishnava-sastra, ei kahe marma
In this Age of Kali there are no genuine religious principles other than those established by Vaishnava
devotees and the Vaishnava scriptures. This is the sum and substance of everything. (M.L. 9, 362)
This is the verse I had tried to learn when I was getting association with BV Srauti Maharaja. Due to my
inability, after a couple of years, I am still trying to learn the same verse. I am sure that Maharaja would not
do good business keeping me as his servant. Now, after the cerebellum tumour operation, I keep serving
the translation of your books according to my ability.
For the same healthy reasons, I cannot travel to obtain your darsan, dear Gurudeva, but I keep listening to
your classes, festivals and Bhakti news to the net. I am conscious that I am missing the most important
point: the mercy of a living sadhu, your darsan and your direct association. I pray Nitai-Gauranga to be
merciful giving me closest association with His Divine Grace anywhere we go.

So, I appreciate very much the sannyasis tours. I

am looking for having soon BV Sajjan Maharaja
association back in Barcelona.

BV Van Maharaja comes each year to Spain; he was the first sannyasi who preached me at Ananda-dhama
Mandira (Vrindavana).
Sincere gratefulness to Syamarani Devi Svamini and Bhakti art team who help with their paintings to
illustrate the wonderful books.

His gracious mood of preaching, his classes by videos like “Every day is Vyasa Puja” are very inspiring, I
enjoy BV Damodara Maharaja Hari katha.

I want to mention now the most humble of your servants, who guided me from Krsna-Balaram mandira to
Ananda-dhama and Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti Matha, giving me the opportunity to serve your lotus feet,
Mathuranatha dasa Prabhu (from Murwillumbah).

A million of dandavats pranamas to all guru-Parampara as your diksa-guru Srila Bhakti-Prajñana Kesava
Maharaja and your dear siksa and friend Srila Svamiji Maharaja. All glories to His Divine Grace Srila Goura
Govinda Maharaja and Srila Bhakti Damodara Maharaja (Dr. Singh).

Million of thanks to all sannyasis, vanaprasthas, grhasthas, vaishnavis and vaishnavas, your personal
servants as BV Madhava Maharaja, your secretary Brajanatha prabhu and wife, and all of those who take
care of you, dear Gurudeva, with love and devotion.

All glories to the Acharya-cooks who prepare maha-prasada for the deities and the devotees.

Lakhas of gratitude to all of them. I think that only bhakti can repay the bhakti received.

To Sri Narayana Gosvami Maharaj:

To you I offer my humble obeisances, infinite pranams.
I offer my mind, my intellect, my body, senses.
The very air I breathe I offer unto you. Every movement I do, every pleasure I feel.
I am such a wretch that I am not able to perform sadhana properly, and I forget about Radha Krishna again
and again. I am full of anxiety, running hither and tither without finding satisfaction in this material world.
May I, by your grace, be able to enjoy pure bliss chanting the holy name of Hari, and hearing His Katha,
may my mind be always flowing towards Radha Krishna like a river flowing towards the sea.
I wish some day I will be able to behold you personally and take initiation from you.
Thank you for being so merciful

My Dearest Gurudeva,
By surrendering to Gurudev we can understand things beyond material conception.
By surrendering to Gurudev we can understand the mysteries of the revealed scriptures.
By surrendering to Gurudev we can be freed from the entanglement of the material world.
By surrendering to Gurudev we advance on the path of transcendental realization.
By surrendering to Gurudev we become free from lamentation, illusion and suffering.

Without the mercy of Gurudev we cannot advance

in devotional service.
By being faithful and devoted to Gurudev we can
transcend the modes of material nature.
Gurudev is the Captain of the boat of the human
form of life for crossing the ocean of nescience.
Just as a cloud pours water on a forest fire to
extinguish it, so Gurudev delivers the materially
afflicted world by extinguishing the blazing fire of
material existence.

Oh Gurudev I am an evil materialist, always addicted to worldly desires, and I do not have any good
qualities. I do not know what devotion is and my materialistic mind is absorbed in fruitive activities. I am
certainly very foolish and I do not know what is good for me.

I have taken shelter at your lotus feet and I surrender unto you. You are my only hope.
Please bestow a drop of mercy unto me and make me more humble than a blade of grass and more tolerant
than a tree.
Please give me the strength to bear all trials and tribulations with patience and free me from the desire for
name and fame and desire for wealth and honour.
Your most humble servant,
Jagannath dasa

Jiva Pavana dasa, from United Kingdom

Dear Srila Gurudev

Please accept my dandavat pranams millions of times at your lotus feet on this most auspicious day of your
divine appearance.
I know that my Srila Prabhupada is very happy that I have approached you but I also know that he is
displeased with my practical lack of surrender and service. Somehow I have allowed myself to become
completely entangled in the struggle to maintain family life and the weeds of my anarthas have grown very
high and their roots run very deep.

If I could possibly muster up even the dimmest reflection of sincerity I pray that I could be engaged in
interrupted constant and pure devotional service. You deserve no less than that. I know that this will only be
possible when I am constantly in pure sadhu sanga but I'm kept at a distance because of my offensive
nature. Yet I will never give up up hope as you have ordered us not to and I promise that one day, very
soon I will stop waisting time and give you, Srila Prabhupada and the entire parampara my full time
attention and dedication.

Srila Gurudev thank you for being so sweet and so kind and so patient.
Your glories will forever spread throughout all spiritual and material worlds.
With all of my love

Anantacarya dasa, from Honolulu, Hawai, EUA
Following, you will find an offering to Srila Gurudeva that was read to Him and the assembled devotees
at His arrival to the Badger Festival in 1999. It is an offering that was written by Anantacarya dasa. It
was read aloud to the Badger assembly by Gopa Vrndapal dasa.

It is rumored that in your neighborhood there is a transcendental pickpocket who has been imported
from a foreign place, far, far away; from a region wherein the inhabitants are accustomed to stealing
each other's hearts. When this pickpocket takes from you that which he wants, he does it so nicely, so
sweetly, so wonderfully, and with so much love, that when he gets done, you will feel that what he takes
actually belonged to him all along, right from the start. That's a fact.
The start, in this case, is the morning of November 15th, 1977 in Vrndavana, India, when Srila Narayana
Maharaja took charge of the pre-samadhi parikrama and samadhi preparations for my Gurudeva, His
Divine Grace, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Srila Prabhupada. Although Swami Prabhupada had departed the
evening before, we continued to serve and worship his divine form throughout the night, with a
parikrama of Vrndavana and samadhi planned for the next day. The following is an excerpt from the diary
of the devotee who is writing this letter.
"By 5:00 A.M. everyone is back. As Mangala arotik starts a little later, many devotees turn their backs to
Srila Prabhupada in order to pay prostrated obeisances to the Deities. Narayana Maharaj and his
associates remain motionless and do not budge. In no time at all, Narayana Maharaj is laying it on the
line to Gopal Krishna Das -- the devotees are to stay at the Vyasasan facing Srila Prabhupada, and there
is to be a simultaneous arotik for Srila Prabhupada at the Vyasasan while the arotik also goes on for the
Deities. Gopal Krishna quickly gets everything arranged nicely, and a nice arotik is held at each of the 3
altars plus at the Vyasasan. Narayana Maharaj leads the kirtan and winds up everything with repeated
and resounding "Jaya Gurudevas" one after another. Afterward, there is also an arotik for Tulasi Devi.
The Parikram begins at about 6:45 A.M., and the palanquin is lifted from the Vyasasan and carried to the
center of the courtyard of the temple room where we circumambulate Srila Prabhupada with more
chanting, of course. We then proceed through the front gate of the Mandir, down to the road to
Vrndaban, and parikram to each of the (7)? Temples of Vrndaban. Narayana Maharaj is arranging
everything nicely, leading the procession, leading the kirtan, and seeing with great attention that
everything goes along perfectly for Our Gurudev. Narayana Maharaj is now conducting the parikram,
acting on our behalf as our very capable leader, and seeing to it that everything is conducted nicely for
Srila Prabhupada. For the next 6 hours, he is indefatigable, watching everything, and continuously
providing the devoted and competent leadership needed so that all the details of the parikram and
samadhi are executed perfectly."
That diary excerpt was written 22 years ago in 1977. So this letter is an offering to His Divine Grace Srila
Narayana Maharaja from someone who very much appreciates everything that he did for my Gurudeva
and his disciples on that morning "right from the start" and everything that he has been doing for us ever
since. Just like my own Guru Maharaja, he is simply wonderful, especially when it comes to sweetly,
graciously, and lovingly stealing your heart, and putting it in his pocket.
Thank you very much,
your servant,
Anantacarya dasa Hilo, Hawaii(1999). Honolulu, Hawaii(2009).

Srila Gurudeva me ha dado tanto, pero soy tan desafortunado que no encuentro la manera de agradecerle

"O Gurudeva, you are so merciful. I offer my humble pranama to you and am praying from the core of my
heart that, with the torchlight of divine knowledge, you open my eyes which have been blinded by the
darkness of ignorance." (Sri Guru-pranama)
On this very auspicious day of your appearance on this planet, please accept my unqualified offering to you.
We read your comment in "Gopi-gita", Verse Seven: "If a disciple simply remembers his gurudeva's lotus
feet, all of that disciple's sins and reactions to those sins are burned. No trace of sin remains in him and all
good qualities manifest in him. Even if the disciple does not remember and follow his gurudeva perfectly, his
sins dissolve if his gurudeva simply wishes them to be eradicated."
What a blessing and benediction to have the association of such a fully qualified guru as you are. Your
humble daughter has full faith that you wish her sins to be eradicated.

My initiation, in San Diego 2001, was the time when we first met. Early morning, I had picked fresh flowers
and arranged a simple bouquet to offer you. We were all devotees in this room... and I didn't know how to
behave in front of such a high class saintly person. Better advanced devotees were giving you fancy
bouquets and were talking to you freely, that impressed me very much. Feeling so much unqualified, my
crying came out spontaneously. When my sponsor introduced me to you and after offering my flowers little
bouquet, you said: "O you give me your heart!" with a beautiful smile - "Yes gurudeva". Your words and
attitude were so simple, so different from the other devotees. My surprise was that you accepted my own
simplicity. You kept the flowers on the coach to your right side. I was ashamed of crying so much. You
stunned me by the beautiful way you accepted me.
With time going on, I understand that, giving my heart to you... you took it... and you still keep it like this
bouquet 9 years ago. Today, you know that my surrendering to you is still fully complete. You bless me so
much.
On one of your visit to LA, I asked you: "Gurudeva do you hear me when I'm singing to you?" - You
answered: "Krsna hears you!" You perfectly knew my heart.

59
By your causeless mercy, my continued reading
and hearing under you guidance increase the
taste and the transcendental greed for more. So
this daily practice waters the seed of bhakti that
you planted in my heart.
Dearest gurudeva, you're my connection to our
beloved Radha and Krsna. You're forever present
in the "Gita kunja" within my heart, the place
where I go for my daily meditation. Thank you
sooo much gurudeva!
In fact, how can we honor you? We are all so
neophytes. So please accept this very in-perfect
words as an attempt to glorify your Vyasa Puja.
Wish you the best of health so as you keep
helping all of your disciples.
Again my heartfelt dandavat pranam at you lotus
feet.

Please accept my humble obeisances, All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
All glories to You and Srila Prabhupada!

Once again we are given an opportunity to glorify, and acknowledge all the mercy you are showering on us.
Thank you so much Srila Gurudeva, we can never repay you for what you are carefully giving us. You are
elaborating on what our Srila Prabhupada gave us, but making it so much sweeter and sweeter.
You are that special Mahabhagavata, which is physically present now in vapu form. If only so many of
Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja's disciples, would realize that?
Oh, how SRI CAITANYA'S MISSION would increase tremendously. You are an ocean of causeless mercy. The
real meaning of Patita Pavana, welcoming so many fallen souls to take shelter of Your Strong Lotus Feet.
Thank you for counting me among the atoms of Your Lotus Feet, Your mercy is all we are made of. We
Love You Srila Gurudeva!!!
The Three and a half weeks, You spend with us in May 2008, was the highlight of so many devotees' lives
here in South Florida. The initiations, morning walks, private darshans, SRI NRSINGHA CATURDASI
PROGRAM FESTIVAL, and even the wonderful time we spent with you at the dentist's office; were all part of
You allowing us to get the unlimited blessings of serving Your Lotus Feet.
Longing for that intimacy again, Srila Gurudeva. Our sanga is growing, as a result of Your blessings Srila
Gurudeva; maybe You can come visit South Florida again in the near future? May this day be a reminder of
how much You are loved by so many sincere souls, all over the globe.

memories from when I first came to you in
Vrindavana, all those years ago. I was a thirsty
dried up flower looking for water in the
desert.....and you picked me, gave me a true
home, and put me in your pocket forever!.
I am eternally grateful to Radha and Krishna for
sending you to this world to help souls like me
find our way through the suffering, to the
blissful Kingdom of God, we have sought after for
too many births. You have given us all hope.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Even though I am flailing around in the ocean of
material life, in my heart, I am yours and yours
alone. I yearn to be with you, always. It is the
great tragedy of my life that I am not so fortunate
that I may always be by your side. I pray that my
next life I may be so blessed that I meet you from
baby-hood, and never am without your great and
glorious company until the day this soul leaves
this world for the last time.

You are so beautiful, when I think of all these things, my heart fills up with tears and I am overwhelmed by
feelings of gratitude. Please don't delay, sprinkle your magic dust upon this flower, so I may grow in your
pocket and become quickly qualified to be held in your blissful hand, and offered to the Divine Couple, as a
fragrant new flower, for Their pleasure. Look only to this desire within me, and please ignore my petty
weaknesses. This is my only hope, and my only prayer.
I love you more than anything of this world Gurudeva. Bless you for being in my life. Happy Birthday!

All Glories to His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta

All Glories to Guru Parampara!
Hare Krishna!
In this very auspicious and special celebration of your Appearance day on Mother Earth, I would like to
express all my gratitude to YOU and OUR Beloved Sri Krishna and Srimati Radharani who make everything
POSSIBLE, Their Lordships have make this fool (my self) to come to meet YOU and by Krishna's
arrangements and by the Mercy of a great Vaishnavi Her Grace Srimati Shyamarani Devi Dasi, who
suggested me, I should take shelter at your Lotus Feet and I did, here in Alachua back in 2003.
Back in 1993 I was blessed to meet you in Vrindavana Dhama and You were so kind, you took so many
devotees along with His Grace Giriraja Swami on a parikrama to Varshana and I was there, (I did not know
you were going to be my Beloved Srila Guru Deva).
After my daughter Nadia Devi and I met you again in Costa Rica in 1997. And now my Husband Nara Hari
Das, my daughter Nadia dd and I we are living at your service; and we thank you for helping us to develop
our Sadana Bhakti under your Divine Shelter, and hopefully one day by your Divine Mercy we will become
fully Krishna Conscious.
Srila Guru Deva! Happy Birthday!!!!!

Dear Srila Gurudeva my koti dandavts to your lotus feet, all glories to Sri Sachinandan Gaura
Hari All Glories to Sri Sri Radha Vinode Bihari Ji

Srila Gurudeva I have had the unprecedented fortune to have join your prachar lila from the
beginning and you have given me shelter and inspiration to practice with great hope and
enthusiasm this process of Bhakti. You have made clear the precepts of Rupa and Raghunath
and shown a brilliant light on the tika of rasik Acharya Vishvanath Chakravati Thakur. You have
delivered the compassion of Thakur Sri Bhaktivinode who worked tirelessly to educate the
world

In the science of Bhakti. You have manifested the fulfillment of the mission Planted in the
heart of Srila Swami Maharaja our Prabhupada by Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Prabhupada. You
have rescued those who fell from the boat of mercy that Srila Swami Maharaja our Prabhupada
established in the west. You planted the creeper of Bhakti in the soil of the fertile hearts after
Swami Maharaja cut the jungle.

Sastra declares that Sri Guru is the sum total of all the Demigods but I think this is not as
powerful as the fact that Sri Guru is the Sum total of all of the previous Acharyas. In you Srila
Gurudeva the power, love, kripa, and all shakti

Is present, no this is not just words this is the truth I have seen this fact even with my limited
vision devoid of real Guru nishtha, you are the meaning of self effulgent Acharya Guru. I am
happy to write this heartfelt glorification because I am yours now and forever I hope what seva
I try to render is pleasing to you this is my goal to grow in the arena of faith and one day
realize something of sadhu sanga and Guru nishtha then real bhajan will come and anartha will
go easily and nishta, ruchi, ashakti, and the sadya bhava will come I don‟t doubt this and I will
never give up trying according to your instructions, but ekaki amar nahi pai bala alone I have
no strength therefore Srila Gurudeva keep me near your feet.

With my heart and love

Your son

Please, although I may be just a child I ask for your blessings.
And................... Happy Birthday! Jay Srila Gurudeva!
Please come and visit Alachua soon, because when you are not here with us.
I am a stone that has been thrown into the water and is sinking and sinking and when you are here the
stone becomes as light as a feather and begins to float. This means that when you are not here everything
feels wrong and I have a longing to see you and hear your Hari Katha! it gives me inspiration to chant more
deeply and more rounds.
Once when my family came to see you in Huston this year (2009), I chanted 113 rounds! you inspire me to
chant more. But when you come here, I feel enlightened, I feel joyful, I actually feel happy. It is difficult to
be happy in Kali Yuga, but when I see you and hear your Hari Katha.
I imagine Goloka Vrndavana and that makes me feel blissful and more than happy.

Radhakanta das and Ratikala devi dasi, from Martinez, CA, EUA

After years of practicing sadhana-bhakti, a devotee may become stifled for further advancement in Krsna
consciousness. Even after receiving the association of a mahabhagavata Vaisnava, who then may depart for
the nitya dhama, a disciple‟s siksa is never over. Siksa is a continual process, like Bhakti, even up to and
through the elevated stages of prema-bhakti.
Krsna bhakti janma-mula haya „sadhu sanga‟, krsna- prema janme, tenho punah mukhya anga. “Sadhu-sanga
is the root cause of Krsna-bhakti. When Krsna-prema is awakened, sadhu-sanga still remains the most
essential anga of bhakti.”
The example is given in those fortunate souls who have achieved perfection in this human form. They take
birth in Krsna‟s pastimes going on somewhere in one of the many material universes. There they fortunately
receive spiritual instructions from Radha and Krsna‟s eternally perfect associates in the intricacies of prema-
mayi seva, intimate loving service and moods. This is our Gaudiya tattva-siddhanta. We always remain under
the shelter of superior, well-wishing, affectionate devotees who have the same mood for which we aspire for.
Srimad bhagavatarthanam, asvado rasikaih saha, sajatiyasaye snigdhe, sadhu sangah svato vare (Sanatan
Siksa CC Madhya 22.131).
Shortly after the disappearance of Srila Gour Govinda Swami, by his causeless mercy and the mercy of Krsna,
one advanced sadhu came to our home, whom we had never met. Emona durmati samsara bhitare, padiya
achinu ami, tava nija-jana, kona mahajane, pathaiya dile tume. That was Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana
Maharaja in 1996. Sweetly relishing the topics of Raya Ramananda Samvada, he brilliantly poured the nectar
of this high class hari-katha into our thirsty souls, and gave his beautiful darshan for 5 days. At that time we
could not understand everything, but felt naturally attracted to his beautiful Krsna Conscious personality. Of
the over 100 devotees attended those classes and ours and many other devotees‟ lives were changed forever.
Gurudeva, now at the age of 90 is still travelling the world over, writing and preaching the transcendental
Gaura-vani as enunciated by Srila Rupa Goswami and the acaryas following in his line. There may be many
preachers in the world, but who can preach so expertly and tastefully? Sri-Krsna-lila-kathane sudaksam
audarya-madhurya gunais ca yuktam... Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja ki jaya! May you continue to
write, publish books and preach for many years to come!
On you divine appearance day we offer my heartfelt prostrated obeisance and heart like flowers at your lotus
feet, and pray for your mercy to always flow to us. Please lead us to the lotus of feet of Srimati Radharani as
you are one of her confidential servitors in Vraja. Kada karisyasiha mam krpa-kataksa bhajanam. Always
cast your loving glance upon us. Jaya Srila Gurudeva! Jaya Sri Radhe-Syama!

Dear Srila Gurudeva, Please accept our dandavat
pranams in the dust of your lotus feet on this most
auspicious day of your Vyasa Puja.
Our Guru Maharaja so untimely he left us
So to run for your sanga we felt was a must

When in Mathura we came to meet

You soothed our aching souls as we wept at your feet

Sabda brahma giving us new life

To cope with life‟s strife

When we first met you we wanted you to see

“Look here we are, we such a good devotee”

Shattering our pride

Opening our hearts, you let us look inside

It‟s not so clean in there

We thought with a stare

Anarthas in a pile
“I will take them,” you said, with a smile

Oh most compassionate General, despite advanced age

The whole world is your stage

For so many souls living a lie,

You‟ve come to remind us that soon we will die

Sometimes we wonder why? Are we sincere?

to really take what you‟re giving without fear?

The same message to us all you tirelessly repeat

That one day we may give ourselves to Krishna‟s lotus feet

Prompted by Sri Radhika, your dearmost Queen

That everything you‟re doing, She‟s already set the scene

Giving us a glimpse of the world where we can be

If only from our false egos we can be set free

We truly want to surrender to you,

But our lack of sukrti makes us stuck like glue

In a whirlpool of helter skelter

We can‟t take the shelter
(That we need to set our hearts free)

Closing our eyes and walking over the treasure

When will we do something that will give you great pleasure?

Until you take our atma and make us like yourself

To glorify you properly we don‟t have the real wealth

But here are some words that came in our mind

We know you will accept them being very merciful and kind

All glories to Sri Sri Radha Krsna.
Dearest Gurudeva, I became a devotee
recently when I read Srila Prabhupada's
Bhagavat Gita and because of Krsna's
grace and mercy, my eyes have been
opened.
I decided not practice my bhakti in
Iskcon, then I prayed to Krsna and Srila
Prabhupada to please help me and guide
me towards my guru, and now I know
that you are him.
I have surrendered myself unto your lotus feet from the very first time that I saw your face
and read your words. You are full of love, mercy, grace, patience, kindness and perfect
knowledge. I would feel blessed if I only have one single glance from you. Now I can't make it
to Brazil in January and I'm really gutted about this. I'm from and currently residing in
Argentina and I pray to Krsna to please open up a temple here so I can follow your directions
in a properly way. I also pray to Krsna to please help me meet you next time.
Dear Gurudeva, I thank Krsna everyday to put you here on Earth to help us and guide us and
love us and teach us. I'm married with two small kids so I can't do my bhakti as well as I'd
love to do it but I'll do my best. In my heart you and Srila Prabhupada are my gurudevas.
Thank you for everything, I am new at this, so excuse me for not writing a proper letter.
I love you with all my heart and soul...
Happy Birthday! Hare Krsna!

My Dear and very sweet Srila Gurudeva,

From the core of my heart, please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet.
Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandarvika-Giridhari Radha-Vinoda bihariju ki jaya!
It is very difficult to me express in words so much love I have felling for You specially now when I am in the
way to see you face to face for the first time.
Even You know how deep I am in ignorance, how weakness is my mind, how unqualified I am and how
feeble is my sadhana-bhajan … with audacity (because I really know I am not deserve Your mercy) I beg
you:
Please occupy me in service to your servants of your servants. Give me taste to chant the holy names.
Please receive my heart and keep my soul like a small dust near your lotus feet.
Oh Srila Gurudeva, you are so magnanimous, so powerful, so self-determinate, so qualified and you are so
merciful giving us all these precious books that I love to read. Wonderful books like Sri Bhajana Rahasya
,compiled by Om visnupada Bhaktivinoda Thakura (8 -17):
The Gopis Bhavocchvasa (outburst of feeling that expresses the bhava hidden in the heart) when meeting
with Krsna is described in Krsna Karnamrta (12):
nikhila-bhuvana-lakṣmī nitya-līlāspadābhyāṁ
kamala-vipina-vīthī-garva-sarvaṁ kaṣābhyam
praṇamad-abhaya-dāna-prauḍhi-gāḍhādṛtābhyāṁ
kim apivahatu cetaḥ Kḥṣṇa-pādāmbujābhyām
“May my heart attain indescribable bliss at Sri Krsna lotus feet, which are the eternal abode of pastimes of
the original goddess of fortune, which thwart heaps of lotus flowers‟ pride in their beauty , and which are
deeply respected everywhere for their great power in giving shelter to the surrendered souls.” (Śri
Kṛṣṇa Karṇamṛta- verse 12) by Śrīla Bilvamangala Ṭhākura)

And in the Bhajana Rahasya Vritti, you comment: In describing the speciality of Krsna‟s lotus feet, Sri
Lilasuka says that they defeat the pride of lotus flowers. How? The material lotus flower is cooling, fragrant,
soft and beautiful for the five senses and the bumblebee becomes mad by drinking its honey. But Sri Krsna
lotus feet are intoxicating in a different, exceptional way. These feet are the embodiment of beauty and
wealth for all material and transcendental living beings and they are the eternal abode of the pastimes of
the original goddess of fortune (nikhila-bhuvana-lakṣmī). The word nikhila-bhuvana-lakṣmī in this Text can
also refer to all the Gopis, who offer their everything to these lotus feet. Sri Krsna removes the affliction of
their Kama by touching them with Your lotus feet. The young girls of Vraja affectionately keep these lotus
feet on their hearts and serve them in every way.
All glories to You, my beloved gurudeva, in Your auspicious Vyasa-Puja appearance day.
May You, my most worshipfull and sweet gurudeva, give me Your causeless mercy and then I get the
chance to fulfill Your inner desires.

Now, all your disciples, especially from South America are so blissful, seeing your very presence in this Vyasa
Puja Ceremony in Brazil. Everyone is so happy for seeing Your Divine Grace.
In this special occasion I am writing a few words, although I do not deserve the dust of Your Lotus Feet. It
is an attempt to glorify You and at the same time pray to get the chance of serving and getting your
merciful glance.
Always thinking in Your Lotus feet and personality, I hope to get the chance to please Your Holly Person. At
the same time that I‟m aware of this reality, although under the clutches of the illusory energy of the Lord,
I‟m learning to pray to you and Lord Krsna, due to your mercy.
It‟s not usual for me to pray, but now I‟m learning something through questioning myself, the Vaishnavas
and You:
“When will the incredible moment of constant hankering for Your lotus feet will come?
When the constant utterance of Your name will cause me to cry for love?
When all my desires will be favorable to perform bhajana and work for you and try to please you at all times
and places?
When am I going to see You everywhere?
When am I going to really give my heart to you?
When am I going to love you so much that I understand your desires and try to please You?
When am I not going to see kama, krodha, and all this desires that keep me apart from you?
When will Krsna Katha enter in my heart and when will I do seva with love?
When am I going to serve Prasadam?
When am I going to chant pure holly names? When am I going to serve you?
Where is Goura Nitai and Sri Radha Krsna?
Where is Vaisnava Thakura”? Without your mercy I cannot see anything but these foolish and selfish
desires...
Due to the contact with your great indian and western disciples I am getting inspiration to pray to you, the
holly master who changed the direction of my heart. Hare Krsna.
Thanks for coming to this place and thanks for giving the chance to change and save us.
Srila Gurudeva, Ki Jai!!!

My Gurudeva
The Transcendental Ambassador,
All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gouranga!
The karma cannot change while a person is
pretending to be the duer and the enjoyer. It
would change only when you leave to Him;
surrender. Then the light will come and I will see
with my eyes wide open to the clearness, to the
realness, to the truthness and I will not be
involved in this pervert reflex of the material
world anymore…

I am not always aware and they can attack me anytime. But suddenly I remain in silence and I start to cry
without any consolation… if I am alone I lose…
A light is approaching towards to me it seems like a star, it is so strong that hurts my eyes. When it is closer
I notice that is a warrior like a policeman and he is so perfect that I am astounded…
He is so beautiful, that I cannot find words to describe his beauty, even more he is so sublime when he is
looking at me with his deep blue eyes, full of compassion, then he says: -“ I came here to help you”- I did
not even ask for it, but he came. What kind of person is he? Why he came at the time when I need him the
most? At the right time in my war with the sweetest voice that I have never heard before? How does he
know about my suffering? Why does he want to help me? He cannot be from this material world…
I felt his energy, his vibration in my heart, this love energy boundless, like weaves inundating my anxieties,
my pains, my rubbish, the dust in my heart, everything that I used to believe in were dissipate and then he
shows me my soul that always was begging for him, but I have tried to find him in the wrong places like my
own sense gratification, in my false ego, in my intelligence, in mine mind… But for Radharani´s mercy I
really found him.
How many times I looked for the true love? How many times I have proclaimed to be the seeker of the pure
and real love? But instead I have only found my deficiencies, mine and others faults, but nobody is perfect.
Only for the everybodies pursuit: love and happiness…
And he says to me:- “I love you. You don‟t belong to this material body because this is perishable, maybe
now you are young but one day you will be old and your teeth will fall down, the death will come and you
will die, the money don‟t makes you happy because you are more than that, you are a spiritual soul like God
is, but you are suffering because you misidentify whith your body, I come to teach you how you can be a
really happy person”- when I just heard that I broked up in tears but at the same time I felt unlimited
happiness and I know he wants my real happiness, he wants my real welfare not for a minute not for the
day not even for this life, he wants my happiness for the eternity, my happiness in the transcendental world.
I have finally realized that I found the right person, the person who is the embodiment of all my searches
and hopes, he can really fulfill my heart, he is the embodiment of this love that I have always seeked for it.
He came to me to give me his company, he came to take me to transcendental world and he is the
ambassador of that world so he knows the way very well, because he is the dearest to God, so I cannot miss
the way or even miss the opportunity. What a wonderful person I have met!! He has changed my whole
life!!!
But there is something I have to give him: it is my independency, my free will. It is something so hard for
me but what have I done with them anyway? Only sufferment engrossed in these impermanent things that
do not satisfies me.

He wants to own my soul, everything he says I will do, everything he likes I will like too, his words has to be
my life and soul, he repeats to me over over again: “Otherwise you will suffer and I am not joking”-
My independency, my freedom all that I am so attach, I have to leave it but do they really exist? Do I want
to die or live? Or in better words, Do I want to die for live? Do I really want to love? Do I really want to have
this unconditional love? If it is yes I have to follow him like a medical prescription…

80
Now he came as the Trascencental Ambasador of Love, and I want to love him and perceive him in every
second that I am alive, with my soul‟s eyes, I want him to make me as he is, but this will be only possible by
his mercy.
Please Gurudeva accept my humble petition and my life like an offerend at your lotus feet.
Yours,
Nabalatika devi dasi

Jayatah!
Sri Gaudiya Rupanuga parampara ki jay!
Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayan Maharaj
Most dear paramahansa vaishnava:
Please accept the fallen obeisances at your
lotus feet, of an unworthy servant of my
beloved Gurudeva, Srila Bhakti Promod Puri
Maharaj, of whom I do not deserve even to
pronounce his name.
This is a most holy and auspicious celebration.
The day where light shows up to enlighten the
souls of this world of darkness.

Here I am, full of dirtiness and shame approaching your lotus feet trying first of all to thank you for helping
all boys and girls that have had the fortune to reach your mercy. I see how they get inspired into
transcendental life and shine reflecting your glory.
I am almost scared to approach you, as vaishnavas like you burn to ashes all dirty attachments that mud my
heart. This duck disguised amongst the swans of the vaishnavas has been imitating vaishnavas, although
fully aware of being a pseudo-vaishnava and more over, unworthy to be called a servant of your students
and the true followers of the devotional path.
This intruder wants nonetheless to reach your mercy to beg for a drop of mercy to be able to one day
became a true servant of the vaishnavas, as my demonic nature prevents me from tasting devotion. Please
protect me from sadhu-ninda as my fault finding mind, mistakes little spects of Vraj dust, for dirt, just to
realize it is just the reflection of my lust and my own faults that cover my vision.
I was afraid to write a glorification of yours, unable as I am to inspire trust and afraid that my name
associated with your servants may bring shame to them and you. Nonetheless I beg for your pardon to
have yielded to the temptation to proclaim my unending gratefulness towards my beloved friends and
family, who are finding love and truth at your shelter. This much I can say. You are touchstone transforming
hearts and attracting like a magician the souls to Vraj bhakti.

With all my heart and the most Humble Feeling
I offer my dandavat pranam to you, my loved

It‟s difficult to for me to express what I really feel,
but I‟m going to start offering my heart to you, I
know is not much, because is dirty and full of bad
feelings, but from the day I knew about you I
already belonged you… is Maya who fill us with
illusion and make us think our heart just belongs
us.

I always wanted serve to Srila Swami Prabhupada, but I never found the way, although I couldn‟t find a
sincere soul who would teach me how to do it and know his inner feelings.
When I started reading your books I realize how you knew intimate and perfectly his heart, and I
understood that I finally found who has fulfilled to that great personality my heart wanted serve.
My beloved Gurudev, I‟m insignificant but I‟m wrestling to be able, at least, serve you one day and have
even the most little of the desires which live in your heart, and in this way fulfill you, hoping you bless me
writing the name of my daughter Goura Priyah and mine in your heart to be always with you, and never set
apart of vaishnava seva, also I hope your blessings to guide my daughter in the path of Srimati Radhika‟s

Finally I thank from the bottom of my heart to Sri Radha for gave me the most amazing bless of the

Jay Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga!

All glories to Srila Gurudeva!

Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja is like the Sun, with his warm rays of love always
surrounded his sannyasis and senior devotees. Upon his head are Mahaprabhu and Srimad-Bhagavatam,
his eternal objects of worship. He has the power to nurture the creeper of bhakti in the heart of all, which
was planted by his causeless mercy.

His light illuminates all classes of men, for he does not discriminate against anyone. His divine light reaches
the entire universe, and gives the legacy of most confidential love, the intimate and uninterrupted service to
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Who could be so merciful? Only Sri Gurudeva is the best friend, the eternal guide, our ever well wisher. He is
the embodiment of mercy, compassion and love. Gurudeva Srila Narayana Gosvami Maharaja is the great
messenger of Mahaprabhu.

Following the footsteps of Guru Parampara, he distributes the sweetest devotional moods among the fallen
souls. Through his tireless preaching, whose weapons are the truth, love, knowledge and courage, he
satisfies the desires of all spiritual preceptors.

His beautiful complexion is bright as gold, and attracts the minds of souls eager for pure love and affection.
His beautiful and deep blue eyes hold the transcendent truths that can save us from illusion.

From his bright smile emanates the spiritual power we eagerly long. From his lotus hands sweet purports
and translations arise, and the grace of divine knowledge is granted to those who listen or read his Hari
Katha.

With His arms He invites everyone to jump into the boat of salvation, and His lotus feet always show the
path to Absolute Truth.

We could not have known such beauty without one of his sweetest rays, Sripad Bhaktivedanta Vana
Maharaja, who, as an exemplar disciple, gives us the courage to serve Sri Gurudeva with one-pointed mind
and firm determination.

May Gurudeva give me the chance to recover my true spiritual identity, which was forgotten by my own falts
of enjoying the material world. And being blessed by Him, may I have the chance to get the remanents of
service to Sri Guru.

My dear Gurudeva, may You have a very very very long life! Happy Birthday!

Srila Gurudeva please accepts my respectful dandavat pranamas to your lotus feet repeatedly.
By the mercy of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja, our Srila Prabhupada, I had the oportunity to access
to the first instructions in Gaudiya Vaisnavism, the mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
The years passed and Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada returned to His home, back to the Godhead,
leaving in your hands his sons and daughters. I consider myself in the generation of Srila Bhaktivedanta
Swami Prabhupada's grandsons, and I am eternaly grateful to you for bestowing me the mercy of accepting
me as your disciple.
With time, the sweetness of your Hari Katha wich I receive by the internet, by your books and the
instructions of your sanyasis like Sripad Bhaktivedanta.Vana Maharaja that you kindly send him to give us
association, make ours heart soft, inspires to always keep on chanting the Holy Names, with love and
affection, besides any dificulty we may face to.
Thanks to your mercy, I could get free from the absurd concept that Krsna counsciousness is resumed to an
institution, and see that what Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada brought to us was something even
more refined and mercifully even brought You as my Gurudeva.
I thank You for your love and affection. I desire deep in my heart that I can become more qualified to serve
You.
Please bestow upon me Your blessings to be always in Your association, that I always can be in
association with high class vaisnavas, and in this way I never forget You my Gurudeva, and my mantras.

My dear and beloved Srila Gurudeva,

I offer my most humble obeisances to the lotus feet of Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja,
who is the embodiment of pure love and mercy for all the living entities.

I am the most foolish person in this world and I don't know why I had the fortune to be captured by the
tremendous force coming from my wonderful gurudevas, your Divine Grace and Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami
Prabhupada.

I don't know how I keep trying to do some service, chant rounds, hear harikatha because I don't have any
taste for those. When I look, I am again doing, with my mind screaming to me to stop.

But when I remember the life of my spiritual master and your life, I am again going to hear your sadhus'
classes or going to be with you somehow. I can't understand how it happened because I am so stubborn.
My heart told me that it happens because you and he are saint, pure and strong and both of you desire us
to become saint, pure and strong too. So amazing is your mercy.

I hope some day I can realize your desire which is also the desire of my soul. I depend completely on You
who is the light of my life, You brought my spiritual master so near and near, each day and each year. You
are not bringing just an idea of him, but him in his totality, by every word, conduct and steps.

Every time I remember You, my life become renewed, feeling like to have the same age when I read the
first book of Srila Prabhupada, which came in my hands, when I was only 14. Now I am 51, with grown up
children and grandchildren. We are so fortunate to have you in our life. Nothing is better than this.

My dear Srila Gurudeva, today is the most auspicious day, you are completing 90 years old in this planet.
Since you arrived the entire world became better, all the flowers became more beautiful, the sky more
brilliant, the stars more shining, the Earth happier and all the living entities, animals and human beings more
hopeful. I pray to you from the core of my heart that you may stay here for many years, otherwise our lives
will have no meaning.

Happy birthday to you, our beloved Srila Gurudeva!

Caro Gurudeva:
Aceite minhas mais humildes e respeitosas
reverências.
Todas as glorias a Sri Sri Radha e Krsna.

Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada brought Sri Haninama and the knowledge about the absolute truth

You are taking care of them with love like mother Yasoda made with the Lord and at the same time

Lembro-me sempre que 'tentar' é bhakti e

This is a rare opportunity for a destitute and fallen soul like me to encounter such uttama-maha-bhagavata
personality. The journey is so long but finally we will reach our destiny by guru-krsna-prasade, or else, by
the mercy of the bona fide guru who is a manifestation of Krsna Himself. Sri Guru is asraya-vigraha, the
form and abode of divine love who gives the seed of bhakti or the desire to serve Krsna. So, I wish to grasp
tightly this chance and make my life successful by your causeless mercy.
Furthermore, Srila Bhaktivedanta Vamana Gosvami Maharaja reveals the eternal form of Sri Guru by
concealing to us that, “He is a beloved maidservant of Sri Bhagavan. Sri Guru-tattva is the sakti of the
Absolute, or in other words, its transcendental feminine aspect. Teaching others to serve Sri Bhagavan is Sri
Guru‟s constitutional function. He is a legitimate maidservant under the direction of the sakhis. As such he is
a dearly beloved servant-girl, adept in the art of serving in the pastimes of Sri Bhagavan, that supreme
enjoyer and object of all loving relationships.”
Ultimately, Sri Guru gives sri-hari-nama that is non-different in tattva from sri-nami, He who possesses sri-
nama. It is said in Jaiva-Dharma that, “The conscious, spark-like jiva is qualified to utter hari-nama when he
is situated in his pure, spiritual form. However, he cannot perform pure hari-nama with his material senses
which are bound by maya.”
Due to our weakness of heart and fear, we create many obstacles and impediments to accomplish our goal,
which is atma-samarpana, or full surrender unto the feet of Srila Gurudeva. Therefore, our only hope is to
obtain the mercy of the hladini-sakti of Srimati Radhika and Her confidential maidservants, in order to realize
our svarupa and be able to utter suddha-nama, when He mercifully descends and dances on our tongue
purified by the process of bhakti.
Unfortunately, we still keep hanging on to the rotten stuff, that Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
called “chewing the chewed”. We found ourselves desperate to get rid of our anarthas, all kind of sins and
offenses. So mercifully, you give us diksa and teach that, “The gayatri-mantra gives all kinds of divya-jnana,
transcendental knowledge of krsna-tattva and jiva-tattva, and it also gives a relationship with Krsna.” And
added, “In our parampara, in order to purify one‟s chanting and to give the chanter a relationship with
Krsna, who has kindly taken the form of His holy name, the gopala-mantra is given along with harinama.”
I beg at your lotus feet for your compassion and a particle of your mercy, although I have no eligibility to
claim for that, still you are my life and soul and my only hope.
Your most wretched aspiring servant, Maha Vishnu Das (Rio de Janeiro - Brazil)

Dê-me forças para suportar todas as provações e problemas desta existência material.
Acolha-me na sombra de seus pés de lótus e purifique-me.

Beloved master,
I do not know exactly what to say because I do not know well this "new world" that the Vedas brought
before us. What I just know is that everything I hear affects my heart. And today I love your disciples...
In my own way, through this chaotic and disorganized manner, I also try to work for the welfare on Earth. I
know how hard it is!...
The last time I was with Sripad Sajjan Mararaja he gave me the Bhagavad-Gita and this has encouraged me
to continue "fighting". Sometimes, I feel weak and afraid of the results because I do not feel able to face
many obstacles...
At bedtime, just before sleep, I read about Arjuna and Krsna, take a deep breath and ask for courage,
inspiration and protection. I breathe again and tell myself that I accept the will of God. Yet, it is not a real
surrender but I am closer to it day by day. It is just that I am feeling very afraid for a long time and it is
difficult for me to be free from that fear because I know that my part has to be done and do not always
know how to do it...
Life has brought me such "unimaginable" situations and put me in front of new and giant things... Well, I do
not know what to say to you...
I just want to add that I am happy because you are coming to Brazil and that your presence and light will
make good to all of us! Thank you for coming! Thank you for having compassion towards us. We
Brazilians, especially in the major urban centers, are disconnected from the real values. The family is no
longer considered sacred and we women and mothers are not being given the real value. Our families are
not familiar and it has been a common choice to be "Cain instead of Abel and place gall where it could be
just honey."
For this, my beloved master, I appreciate your presence and, I would like to ask that my family would be
restored and we all come together to work for the welfare of all... There's so much to be done... I have so
many plans... See you in Sao Paulo - God allow me to go, of course - but I am delighted by the possibility.
So, see you there! And again, thank you, thank you, and thank you!
This is my humble prayer at your lotus feet,
Martha Capistrano (Brasilia - Brazil)

My most dear Srila Gurudeva.

By your causeless mercy only you I have
been in your holly association.
Why someone will give a so value thing to
some one who can not appreciate it?
Who can be so merciful?
I don‟t deserve to get it; I don‟t know what
I am really getting today.
I only can suspect that is something that it
has so much value that no one can
calculate.
Like the richest man find some begger in the street and give to him all his fortune, but still the
beggar doesn‟t understand that now he is not a beggar anymore, this is my position and this is
just an insignificant analogy to show how merciful you are.
I can not glorified you properly because I still think that I am a beggar without any fortune,
but you know that you alredy gave me everything and in the right time I will come to know.
Please always bestow your mercy upon me.
Please never take any of my unlimited offenses at your Lotus feet.
I need your mercy yesterday, today and forever.

although I am not qualified to say anything, I understand that without your mercy no one can
be happy in this world or anywhere.
You are the most merciful Gurudeva. You are a Krsna's pure devotee and, you are in the
highest position of all levels of Vaisnavas, undoubtedly you are an Uttama Maha-Bhagavatha,
sidha purusha, like all our acaryas of Gaudiya Rupanuga Vaisnava in the line of Sri Caitanya
Mahaprabhu. You don't want anything for yourself. Your only desire is for bhakti to increase to
serve Krsna more and more. A pure devotee never thinks himself to be the enjoyer of this
world, because he knows that Krsna is the enjoyer. Everything you do is to please Krsna. If
anyone gives to you a farthing, you will give it to your Gurudeva or Krsna; you will never enjoy
it for yourself.
You are Krsna Himself (bheda and abheda - different and non-different), you are one of the six
manifestations of Krsna but manifested separately from His pastimes (vilasa).
You are very dear to Srimati Radhika who is “Hari-mano-vimohana” (She who takes Krsna`s
heart, Krsna gives His heart to Her) and you takes all world‟s heart, please take my heart, I
am waiting for you to take care of it. I am praying that you give your blessings for I became
detached from mundane enjoyment. You are the pure nectar that we always desire. You come
to this world only to save us. You can give Krsna prema to us, badhas jivas. I am very
fortunate to meet you.
Please save me, help me, be merciful with me and forgive all my offenses. I am tired to suffer
in this material world. Please give me the good fortune of attain gopi-bhakti, let me develop
strong faith in you, and performing devotional services under your guidance with commitment,
I want to obey you and follow your instructions nicely, please give me one more chance in this
life, and always purify me.
I want to thank you, but I never can repay you. With your causeless mercy I will accept the
responsibility of translate and publish your books and preaching your mission to the end of my

Dear Guru Maharaj, Dandavats pranam.

I don't feel any qualification to write at this
Vyasa-puja book, since I know that there are
many others who are serving better, but they
are not writing his realizations here.
I recall your harikatha about the true meaning
of vyasa-puja saying that “The real Vyasa-puja
is to surrender oneself completely at the lotus
feet of Srila Gurudeva and to fulfil his desires.”

So, since I don't have surrendered at your lotus feet I just came here to ask for you merciful glance.
Before coming to your lotus feet, I had not an idea of the importance of shuddha-bhakti, guru-nishta and
other important topics of the philosophy. I had a little desire for raga marga, but I didn't know how to find
someone who could guide me. Now I see that trying to fulfil your desires it's the way so that I can really
enter at the groves of Vraja, to serve you, our guru parampara and Srimati Radhika.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

By His causeless mercy the gate guiding to real association was opened.
His mercy and compasion brought him to this side of the world to save the most fallen and wretched souls.
Not being enough, He brings us to the presence of His beloved siksa disciple, Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana
Maharaja that is like a lion, who destroys all kinds of false Bhakti that polutes this Age of deceit and quarrel.
He is like a soft lotus which with love gives what no one had given before: the swetness of Sri Sri Radha-
Krsna‟s love, especially when Krsna is in deep separation from Radha and assumes Her complexion and is
embraced by Her after She gives up Her mana.
By the Divine mercy of all Parampara we are now
having the chance to receive high class Hari Katha
emanating from the lotus lips of Srila Bhaktivedanta
Narayana Maharaja.
He is like the rare blue lotus coming from the heart-
lake of fortunate devotees, who like bumblebees,
are always buzzing at His divine lotus feet and trying
to taste the sweet moods, which are like the honey
of Man Sarovar.
He makes it possible to enter in this opened Divine
market of love even to the most unqualified person

He is like Nitay Prabhu, who mercifully walks around the globe with the only interest of giving benefit to all
by His powerfull association. He is selling the highest nectar for the simple price of faith. He does not
discriminate anyone, not even the miserables, lames, saddened, all are coming and are welcomed at the
sweet heart that is the most pure manifestation of Nitay Prabhu.

He is full of mercy and can make everyone – even those who do not want to – dive in the flood of His
swetness.
Srila Gurudeva Narayana Gosvami Maharaj is the ocean of love where the sincere disciples of Srila
Prabhupada have found a source of inspiration and have recovered their lives, because after a long time
without high class association, we seemed to be agonizing wihout any hope.
By the grace of Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja, today we can say that our beloved Srila Prabhupada
is more alive then ever, because the eternity of the Vaisnava is present when his instructions are understood
and folowed under the guidance of an exalted Vaishnava, who is the only mean able to conect the external
mundan world to the confidential truths.
The Bhaktiveda purports of Srila Prabhupada have now taken a form and have become abundant through
the explanation coming from the lotus mouth of Srila Narayana Gosvami Maharaj.
Because of Him, our relationship with Srila Prabhupada is always alive, eternal and everfresh.
I eternally fall down at the lotus feet of Srila Bhaktivedhanta Narayana Maharaj and pray that His Divine
mercy can let me get out of this miserable condition of thinking that I am this body and then make me be
able to taste the divine mellows that He is distributing by His goodness.

Aspiring for a particle of dust of His lotus feet,

buds among their colorful and beautiful ingredients. These crowns enchant the mind of Lord Hari.

The flower crowns known as puspapara are the best of all and they are more pleasing than even the best
jeweled crowns (ratnapara). Lalita-devi learned how to make these puspapara crowns from Srimati
Radharani.

These puspapara crowns are made with flowers and flower buds of five different colors arranged in five
points. This crown is especially used to decorate Srimati Radharani.

Balapasya

When an earring is fashioned from flowers in order to resemble a certain object, the earring is called
kundala. There are many different kinds of kundala earrings. The flowers may be arranged to resemble a
peacock, shark, lotus, half-moon or many other things.

Puspi
The puspi earring is fashioned from four different kinds of flowers placed in a circle with a large gunja berry
in the middle.

Karnika
The karnika earring is fashioned from the whorl of a blue lotus surrounded by yellow flowers. In the middle
are a bhrngika flower and pomegranate flower.

Karna-vestana
When the flower earring is so large it completely covers the ear, the earring is known as karna-vetsana.

Decoration for the Forehead.

A garland of flowers placed on the upper forehead along the hairline is called lalatika. Such a garland should
have flowers of two colors: red in the middle of the garland and the other color flowers on the two sides.
