Integrated Proposal
The four ecological enhancement strategies, forestry, peat bogs,
agricultural biomass and self-sufficiency, are brought together on
a social level through architectural interventions along the course
of the river.
This aims to involve people on a micro to macro scale. Viewing
platforms incorporate the wider landscape and context, bridges
enable connection on a medium scale, whilst boardwalk brings us
directly to the textures and detail of the landscape character.
All these interventions are composed of locally sourced materials,
using the existing platform at Flanders Moss as a precedent.
Visuals express seasonality and how people can engage with each
identified crossing point.

project 5. NerveArts
on little street
This concept explores the idea that laneways are the nervous systems
of the city, both as a network and energy givers. This concept uses
the metaphor of a nerve impulse to explain how the laneway functions
and provides energy to its users. In addition the concept explores the
ways in which people can be energised by the arts.
The Arts, give people energy in the way that they have shown to
change peoples moods, help with cognitive processing and new ideas
can be experience visually. The site is a nerve, which feeds the system, energising peoples minds with art.
The laneway has two states resting potential or active potential. Resting potential is the inactive stage when an stimulus (activity) is not
happening. However when a stimulus does act on the site it becomes
active potential, causing people to enter and engage with the site.
The act of people interacting with the site creates energy thus ultimately energising and vitalises the city. Energy can be created by organised events or spontaneously when passer-byes decide to start a
stimulus. As the stimuluses are only temporary the foundation design
of the laneway had to be flexible and accommodate a varied amount
of activity. The foundation is structured to represent a nerve network
and directs people around the site to important nodes. Another important aspect of art is that people gain more energy while physically
participating with art. This notion has driven the structure of the concept. Where the heart of the laneway id the most high intensive energy experience, with stimulants allowing you to physically create or
alter the artwork. While as you spread out to the corners of the site
the art activates become more passive. Food will be another stimulus
to used to active the site. This activity will encourage different users
at different times to stay in the site.
project 6.
Currently, Raymond Park is hidden and separated from the wider community, acting more
as a throughway than a destination. The project, Extended Backyard, is inspired by Brisbanes outdoor lifestyle and the need for a
natural space for adjoining houses and the
78% of local residences living in apartments.
The aim of this project is to reconnect the

The overarching concept is about creating a museum for the sounds of our human body and explores the sounds that are expressed by our body, both internal and external. The Chamber of echoes explores the external sounds created
from our body, in particular the sound of our voice and kinetic sounds such as
footsteps. This idea is realised through the design by a series of changing material which effect amplification of sound. For example the start of the space is

Heroic: Hard material, wood and stone. Humble : Soft material, Cloth and cork
The throat is evoked by creating a journey, along a linear room (which represents a sound wave), which builds up sound as the user passes through the
space until the main vocal point, the voice box. The voice box is symbolised by

Spaces within Spaces,reaching the amphitheatre,
The overarching concept is about creating a museum for the sounds of our human body and explores the sounds

The Chamber of echoes explores the external sounds created from our body, in particular the sound of our voice
and kinetic sounds such as footsteps. This idea is realised through the design by a series of changing material
which effect amplification of sound. For example the start of the space is covered in wood, a highly absorbent
material so voice sounds are dim. However as the user reaches the end of the space the materials are hard
stone, glass and concrete, which are highly reflective sound materials therefore creating more echoes within the
space. This end space is the heroic, grand space that creates a wow factor. The users footsteps echo within the
space, this is created by a metal path increases in surface area as it gets closer to the amphitheatre.
The Hall of Harmony explores the internal sounds created by our body, in particular tries to focus the users
experience of the human heart. The humble space is enclosed and intimate; the materials are cloth and cork,
thus being highly absorbent. The aim of the humble space is to create a space so quite so that users can hear
their own heart beat and hear their internal sounds.
The two spaces are contrasted from each other as illustrated in the table below:
