Ahobila Maths 46th Jeeyar - the Saviour

of Vedic Dharma

An Acharya should speak gentle words. He must never be harsh with anyone.
His conduct should be above criticism. He should be like God, a person who will instantly
command respect. He should want others to experience that joy he has himself enjoyed
on getting close to God. He should expect nothing in return from his disciples. He should
be easily approachable. He should never lose his temper. He should be quick to forgive
the mistakes that others make. He should be the confidant of his disciples. They should
feel so comfortable with him, that they should share their feelings with him, without fear.
All of the above qualities appear in His Holiness Sri Rangantha Yatindra Mahadesikan
the 46th Jeeyar of Sri Ahobila Math.
It is important for us to know what the qualities of a good Acharya are, so that
we may identify one when we see one. To one who does not know the value of a ruby,
it is a mere stone like any other. Only someone who knows the value of a ruby will guard
it, and not be careless with it. A ruby can be held in the palm of ones hand. But does
this make it any less valuable? In the same way a good Acharya is simple, but is not to
be underestimated by us.
In his maiden speech to hundreds of devotees assembled in Ahobila Math, Hyderabad
on February 13th the Jeeyar clearly mentioned the importance of preserving Veda Patasalas
and patronising them. In this Acharya, devotees have found a spiritual beacon for reviving
the slowly decaying Sanatana Dharma and to Protect the Temple System. Gadwal Math
Samprokshana on 19th February 2014 reiterated his dedication to the spread of devotion
and setting up branches of the historical Ahobila Math.
After amendments to the 30/87 Endowments Act, which reduced the role of an
Archaka to that of a mute and helpless spectator to the destruction of Temples both
spiritually and physically, the 2007 Endowments Amendment Bill has given the Archaka
the pivotal role in the Temple. Hereditary Archakatvam was not a right but a duty of the
person born in the family to serve the Temple and also the society has been understood
now. This fact has been recognized by Amendment to Sec. 34 of the Endowments Act.
The real problem begins now. In these 27 years of destruction by the Endowments
Act, and the Governments Anti-Archaka policies, many Archaka families have left the
service and moved out of their traditional duties. The in-house training available to them
through their fathers and grand fathers has disappeared.
No Agama Patasala to train Archakas has been set up till now by the Government
even after repeated promises before the devotees.
In this alarming situation, His Holiness Sri Rangantha Yatindra Mahadesikan the
46th Jeeyar of Ahobila Math is the real hope for all the Temple Devotees. Though there
are other Acharyas training the Archakas in their own ways the 46th Jeeyar of Ahobila
Math has certain unique traits.
With the enormous background of imparting Vedic Knowledge to over 400 students
of Rig Veda and having created 60 Ghanapatis himself, the 46th Jeeyar is being looked
upon as the person to take up this responsibility of reviving the Traditional Archaka Training
schools in our State and solve the problem of shortage.
More and more refresher courses should be conducted under this Institution to
the existing Archakas in streamilining their rituals. Let us pray to Lord Malola Lakshmi
Narasimha to give our beloved Acharya excellent health and strength in this great task
ahead of Him.

Anecdotes on Vishnu Sahasranama - 156

PURPOSEFUL PERSONALITY
Sri V.S. Karunakaran, Chennai
Vedas have been frequently referring to the
transgressing form of the Lord Thrivikrama. The
Azhwars have also been referring to this incarnation
of the Lord with affection and recalling this incarnation
of the Lord many times.
In her short but sweet work Thiruppavai, referred
to as the seed for all the Vedas, Andal mentions
this incarnation in three places. The total number
of verses in Thiruppavai is thirty and reference to
the Lord assuming the transgressed form is in the
3rd, 17th and 24th verses of Thiruppavai. I.e. each
decade of Thiruppavai has got one verse in praise
of the transgressing Lord. The 3rd verse terms him
as the Noblest.
Late Shri G.K. Sundaram, Managing Director of
Lakshmi Mill, Coimbatore had deep knowledge in
our ancient literature and was devoted to Rajaji.
He was not only a great industrialist but also a
Philanthropist He had a special taste for Tamil
literature. He used to organize lectures on
Thiruppavai, Kamba Ramayanam and such spiritual
literature regularly.
In 1983, I was giving a series of lectures in Thiruppavai
organised by the Coimbatore Thiruppavai committees
in the Sringeri Mutt situated in the Raja Veedhis
in Coimbatore.
Shri GKS, as he was affectionately called, surprised
all of us by coming to listen to my lecture on the
3rd verse despite the time being 7 am and his having
unimaginably busy schedule. After he listened to
the lecture he waited to share his views on the
verse with me.
I am reproducing a simple free style English
translation for the verse as given by our dear friend
late Arayar Shri Rama Bharathi Swamy here as
it will help us to appreciate the views expressed
by Shri GKS. It reads thus:
Praise him who measured the three words
in two strides; our winters vow will bring joy
to us. The monsoons shall not fail this fertile
land, but bring forth golden heads of paddy.
In the still waters where seedlings are planted,
tiny fish will jump and dance enchanted. Lotus
buds will sway and rock the dreamy bees to
sleep. The udders of our cows so grand shall
scatter milk when held in our milking hand.
A biding wealth shall be ours, come!
In this translation, Shri Rama Bharathi had been
a bit simple in that he has not translated the word
Uththaman, in the original, which means the Noblest.
In his translation of this verse in Sanskrit, my elder

brother Shri. U.Ve Villur Nadadoor Balakavi S.

Sundarrajan, IAS who also has won the certificate
of honour from the President of India has rendered
this in two slokas without leaving the word Uththaman.
His verses read thus:

Gu\w z N o Nyn| o N | z T ut@

| o : quo u uw u b u oz o
ju Gnz o youo:@@
N{ z uYb tz u qmy uyz o
u| u ut| o z Vz z z

Shri GKS was questioning how the Lord, who
showed his small foot and begged land three paces
long as measured by that small foot but ultimately
measured the whole world by a big foot, can be
called the noblest? Does not His amount to
cheating? This being the case, how does Andal
of all glorify Him as the Noblest?
I explained to him recalling the clarification for
this doubt given by our Acharyas in their
commentaries. I told him no act of the Lord would
be purposeless and mean. The Mantra describing
Thrivikrama Avatara introduces the Lord as of infinite
greatness. What does this infinite greatness mean?
Normally in the incarnation of His, we see the Lord
killing the Asuras or those with Asuras properties
in them. We can see that in Matsya Avatara, the
Lord killed Hayagreeva Asura. In Koorma Avatara
though the Lord did not directly kill anybody He
ensured during the act of churning the ocean, the
Asuras held the mouth of the serpent Vaasuki, got
bitten by the serpent and killed by poison. In Varaha
Avatara, he killed Hiranyaksha. As Narasimhan he
killed Hiranyakasipu. As Parasurama, he destroyed
Twenty one generations of evil rulers. As Rama,
he killed Raavana and Kumbhakarna, Khara and
many others. Similarly as Balarama, he killed
Pralamba, Minda and others. The list is very long
when it comes to Krishna Avatara which includes
His own maternal uncle and cousins like Sisupala,
Dantavaktra etc. But in the case of Vamana Avatara,
there is no such killing. Instead, the Lord only
removed the ego in Mahabali and for that he didnt
mind being called a cheat. He did not want to take
wealth from Mahabali by force for in that process

there could be a war which would result in killing

of Mahabali and his folks. Instead he chose to beg
from Mahabali his material wealth but make him
rich in spiritual wealth by removing the false ego
from him.
It appears to us as if the Lord begged and cheated
Mahabali. But He did this for the sake of Devas
on whose behalf Aditi had submitted herself to Him
surrendering at his feet by performing special Vratam.
Thus in a trice, he did extend his sublime grace
to Mahabali giving him a position enviable to Indra
and even to Prahlada- who was the grandfather of
Maha Bali. He also enabled the gods to partake
of the offerings made in sacrifices by reinstating
them in their heavenly abode vacating Mahabali
who had driven them away from there.
Though Puranas say that Mahabali has been pushed
to Patalaloka and kept as captive there, they also
tell in the same breath that the security guard there
is none other than the Lord himself.
Later when Raavana was on a tour challenging all
countable forces to fight with him, he went to the
Netherlands (Paataala) also where Mahabali is kept
as captive, with the security watchman at the gate
being the Lord as mentioned earlier.
Raavana shouted at the security the Lord. Inform
your boss to come out. Here is the mighty Raavana
challenging him for a duel
The security said Sir our Lord is not interested
in establishing his greatness by fighting the shallow
challengers like you. You may kindly go your own
way
But Raavana would not listen. He wanted to crash
the gate. The security took out the lathi and bet
Raavana and spun him in such a pace that Raavana
was carried by it and thrown to his bed at Lanka
to the horror and surprise of all the soldiers of his
army.
Such was the grace obtained by Mahabali and hence
Parasara says in Vishnu Purana that Mahabali
obtained the state of a god and also a ruler ship
for the gods in the future for one full Manvantara
a period of forty three lakhs and twenty thousand

human years conquering all - both internal and

external enemies.
This is the specialty of Thrivikrama.
Even his begging, cheating, transgressing measuring
etc. all are noble acts that have been done with
calculation and plenty of purpose behind them.
In the process of measuring the world, the Lord
also put his foot on each and every one of us.
Because of this touch by the foot of the Lord on
my head and yours, in whatever form we were all
then, I am blessed to write this article and you

Thus no act of His is purposeless. He is therefore

Nirukti is so much attached to this grace of the

Ramanuja was also great devotee of Lord Thrivikrama
like Vedas, Azhwars and Andal. He wanted to make
his Sribhashyam also a text full of purpose with
no word or letter in it futile. That is why probably

Sri Ranganatha Travel Part II

Tamil Manuscript : Sree Venugopalan, Chennai

Based on 14 century incidents famous writer Sri Venugopalan
wrote this story. In this story the hero is utsav idol of Lord
Ranganatha of Srirangam. During the invasion of Mohammedbin-Tuglak Lord Ranganatha was taken protectively outside
of Srirangam facing several difficulties. ....The three Kodavas
and Singhazagar were the only four people left along
with the idol. The three kodavas started heading towards
Anjanadri hill. Singazhagar was down the hill. The sultan
soldiers try to catch them, the two kodavas made a rope
with creepers and started sliding down the cliff with the
idol tied on their back. ... When he returned he could
neither find Sreeramadasar nor Lord Ranganatha even
after spending 3 days searching for them. They were
lost in the Chandragiri forest. Singazhagar with hurt,
poisoned and paralysed leg left the forest and returned
to Kancheepuram with great difficulty and was awaiting
help for 18 years since then. The three Kodavas protected
Lord Ranganathas idol taking him away from the Sultans
army. Singazhagar narrated how two of the Kodavas
gave their life to protect the greatest root of Vedic Tradition
which is Lord Ranganatha. Sreerama Dasa, the Lone
Kodava who survived lost his speech and was dazed.
He was made to sit in a secure place with Lord
Ranganatha by Singazhagar and he left for the sake
of performing last rites to the other Kodavas. When he
returned he could neither find Sreeramadasar nor Lord
Ranganatha even after spending 3 days searching for
them. They were lost in the Chandragiri forest.
Singazhagar with hurt, poisoned and paralysed leg left
the forest and returned to Kancheepuram with great
difficulty and was awaiting help for 18 years since then.
After hearing the story the two youngmen decided to
explore Chandragiri forests. The two men started their
expedition to Chandragiri forest with the blessings of
Singazhagar. Singazhagr explained them various things
about the forest and also he gave them idea to identify
the idol of Lord Ranganatha. Both men travelled 10
days and reached Chandragiri forest. They met a lady
from the nearby tribal inhabitants who took them to her
Head. The Head of the tribals greeted them both well
and when he came to know the reason for expedition
he narrated few more incidents that sultans blazed the
entire forest when they came to know that Kodavas were
hiding here and guided them to meet the Chenchu tribes
living deep inside the northern part of the forest. When
they tried to go to sleep the young lady whom they saw
came beside them and sat in between them and started
smiling at them..Read further).
Both the men were shocked to see her beside them
that too in the late night. While they were thinking that
why she had come there, she placed handful of honey
on their hands which he picked from the wooden vessel
tied on her back. Then she started picking all the items
kept on their bags the costumes they had for sanyasi
disguise like beard and moustache. She tried them on
her face and started laughing.
Is she mad? thought the young men in doubt.
At that time she started conversing with them swiftly in
both tamil and her tribal language mixed.

English Translation : CSL Narasimhan

Sir! I am happy that you had come to our forest . The
ladies like me always feel happy when we see people
like you as we have never seen the cities. This forest
alone is our dwelling place. Whenever we see people
like you we feel happy and it is a different experience.
I would like to ask a question. Did you both come here
for hunting?
Vallabha replied, No!
The lady said, Good! I found that from your face itself.
When I saw you near the waterfall that time itself my
mind started predicting the purpose of your visit. I know
some jyotishsaastra where I can predict the future. But
this time the predictions in my mind were flowing like
a waterfall which I have never experienced so far. I wanted
to tell you my predictions and I got that opportunity only now.
She dragged Vallabas right hand and placed her
prediction stick. The moment she kept the stick her eyes
started watering.
Sir! Your body is in the forest but the mind is in the
country. You have lost half of the heart the day you saw
one fish eyed lady. You have sold your half heart to her.
While lying on the bed, when in deep thoughts, even
when you are away from the country, travelling long
distance her sweet voice and her memories are lingering
in you which is shown on your radiant face which shines
like a yellow sun. I am telling the truth she finished
saying this.
Then she picked up Duttas hands. She stared at the
hands for some time and started narrating, The day
the bee eyed one saw you she lost her mind to you.
Her heart is in pain. She is longing to tell her love to
you. She is in agony by not disclosing it to you. Even
after you have come so far crossing the country border,
you are always followed by the mind of the sweet fragrant
lady. Even if you are occupied with your adventure please
do not forget her and do not take the sin of forgetting her.
Then later she prayed all the forest gods for the success of
their visit and saluted them several times and left the place.
The candle which she had placed there was burning
for long and they both lied down silently. When Vallabha
closed his eyes, the thoughts of Makaravizhiyal flashed
in his mind. All these days it was hidden somewhere
in his thoughts. Now that the tribal lady reminded him
about her, all the control he had in his mind is lost and
the thoughts about her flowed in more force than before.
Makaravizhi! Makaravizhi! Where are you? Will I ever
meet you again? This tribal lady could predict about
you. If that is true, are you still thinking about me. Is it
true or is this tribal lady who wants to tell only things
which soothes us telling some thing on her own? I
dont understand anything, he blabbered in his mind.
Dutta did not think anything. He did not even desire to
think about anything. Please come back here once
Only those kind words were lingering in his mind breaking
his iron coated heart again and again.
Next day after taking bath they were ready to leave. The
head of the tribe with all his fellow citizens came to
their place. He offered them lots of fruits and said, Your
visit has purified our entire dwelling. May you get all success
in your expedition.

Then he called two gents and two ladies from the group
who are known as Sukalis to come forward and said,
Oh Sirs! These people (Sukalis) will accompany you till
you reach the place of Chenchu tribes. You need not bother
about anything. Please go ahead.
Sukalis are basically nomads from Rajasthan. They dont
like to stay at one place. When Sultans invaded the southern
region these people were used to carry the loads for the
sultans and that is how lot of them came to southern
region. When Sultans left for Delhi, many of these nomads
stayed back in chandragiri forest and they got the name
as Sukalis.
After introducing to them, Vallabha and Dutta bid farewell
to everybody and started their journey. The bells tied in the
dresses of the lady sukalis were making pleasant noises
and both men were in deep thoughts about the experiences
they are going to face. After going some distance, they heard
somebody shouting Thooka!. They saw the lady behind
who visited them in the night. She was having two forest
roots in the shape of swastika. This will protect you both
saying this she tied each one to both of them and bid them
farewell with the same smile on her face.
The whole day they travelled along with the sukalis leaving
several places behind deep into the dense forest. When
the night approached they finally settled in to a comfortable
cave. The two lady sukalis singing all tribal songs cooked
some roots and gave them.
The second day of their journey was tough for them. They
had to cut the branches of thick trees which had grown
to make the way for them. The sukalis told, only last month
we came around this side. The trees have grown so fast now.
They had to cross several places which were sometimes
dark, some deep water bodies, waterfalls, unlevelled lands,
slippery rocks and finally one evening they reached the
Chenchu tribes border.
The Sukalis said, we are stopping here. Give us
permission to leave. Saying this they left.
The two men hurried to reach the dwelling of Chenchu tribes
before the dusk and they could reach it well before that.
The tribes who saw them got surprised and took them
to their Head.
The Head greeted them well and offered them sweet honey
and water and asked the purpose of their visit.
The men explained him briefly the whole thing and said,
We have to search for Lord Ranganatha immediately.
The Head who listened carefully said, Sirs! From what
you tell the Kodavas have travelled from Chandragiri to
Anjandri hills. You should have gone there. Why have you
come here?
Vallabha replied, What you say is right. We were proceeding
that direction only. But the Yeru tribes told about the forest
fire in which several places got damaged. That is why
we have come with the hope here that the Kodavas might
have escaped from there and would have come here.
The Head also got convinced that their approach is right.
The Head said, Sirs I had come here from Ahobilam only
10 years back. I can check with some senior people living
here who run our panchayat. Saying this he sent his
messengers to bring the senior leaders to meet the two
young visitors.
The two Panchayat members of Yerukula tribe who came
there were quite old and so they were having knowledge
of wildfire which happened 18 years back.

The fire which first started in southern region where

Yerukula tribes were living started spreading towards
northern region. We were very scared. We all prayed our
God Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy for our safety. We offered
him feast. Our unmarried girls whom we call as Lakshmi
were fasting and dancing in front of the Lord. By our
Gods grace Lord, who is our son-in-law * saved us by
stopping the fire near Silambodai which is in the southern
side of this region. But we had to face several troubles
which were the after effects of the fire. Lot of wild animals
had come this side escaping the fire. Big snakes and
moles had started coming into our inhabitation. It took
almost a year for us to get rid of these animals. Whoever
was trapped in the fire would have lost their lives. Lot of
Yerukula tribe people were burnt into ashes. The fire was
blazing in circles from all our directions making it impossible
to escape. The kodavas would not have survived if they
were surrounded by that fire. Even if we assume that they
had escaped and had managed to come here, they could
have been prey to wild animals. If they had survived, it
surprises us that we did not come to know about it.
Rajavallabha immediately responded to them saying, Sir!
I agree to what all you say. Even then we feel that our
Lord Ranganatha is somewhere here safely. This is our
strongest belief. There is no change or hesitation in this.
Also, based on the information we gathered so far we
are sure that Lord Ranganatha is in this forest only. So,
we would like to search this area inch by inch before we
lose our hopes. Even if we have to spend our lifetime for
this mission we would not hesitate to do.
The old men started discussing among themselves after
seeing the young mens determination.
Then they drew on the mud floor the route which goes
from Chandragiri to Anjanadri with the help of the sozhishells
to analyse the route and possibilities. They drew all possible
routes and mapped the multi-cobra headed like cliff. They
also estimated exactly where the Kodava who had rolled
down the cliff would have reached the ground.
Oh! Young sirs!, this must be the place where the Kodava
would have fallen from the cliff saving Lord Ranganathas
idol with him. This must be the place where the other
two Kodavas would have found the Lords idol and seen
the body of the Kodava who rolled from the cliff. This must
be the place where the surviving Kodava should have
disappeared with Lord Ranganathas idol. We now should
analyse how he would have reacted to fire. If he has to
go what are the possible escape routes and which route
would be most likely taken by him said one of the senior
Panchayat members.
Everyone there accepted the idea of analyzing the reaction
and possible paths of surviving Kodava to escape the
approaching forest fire, because that will give them possible
places and direction to search. They continued the analysis
and talked about many places and options. After they
logically ruled out several places and options, they short
listed five places for further analysis. One of the places
were the area where Chenchu tribes were living and rest
of the areas or places were slopy mountenous terrains.
That Kodava should have possibly gone into these five
possible places. Let us search for him every where around
these five places said the senior leaders.
Immediately the chief of Chenchu tribe constituted search
parties to go into all the five places to search.
(To be continued....)

two strides; our winters vow will bring joy to
us. The monsoons shall not fail this fertile land,

Praise him who measured the three words in two
strides; our winters vow will bring joy to us. The
monsoons shall not fail this fertile land, but bring
forth golden heads of paddy. In the still waters where
seedlings are planted, tiny fish will jump and dance
enchanted. Lotus buds will sway and rock the dreamy
bees to sleep. The udders of our cows so grand
shall scatter milk when held in our milking hand. A
biding wealth shall be ours, come!

AHOBILAM AND AHOBILA MUTT - 22

(Continued from serial no.20 i.e. Jan. 2014)
Advaitha Upanyasams.
Last month there was an Advaithamahaupanyasams
rendered by Brahma Sri Karungulam Sri Krishna sastrigal.
They conducted 10 upanyasama on Sri Sankaracharyas
Dasasloki in Tirunelveli and the last Upanyasam was
rendered on September 7th. These Upanyasams were
organized by Kumbhakonam Advaithasabha. The Hon
Justice Sunder Iyer has institutionalized this Sabha through
his permanent contribution to the corpus, from interest
of which these great Dharma duties are organized. The
upanyasa topics were:
1. Veda Pramanyam, 2. Dehatmavada Nirakaranam,
3. Jeeva Swaroopa Nirupanam, 4. Dharma, 5.
Avasthathrayam, 6. Saakshi Nirupanam, 7. Iswara
Thathvam, 8. Upaasthi, 9. Shishya Acharya Nirupanam,
10. Shuddha Prahma Nirupanam
All the above upanyasams were rendered by the shastri
so that even people who dont understand shastra
can also understand.
At the end Sri KrishnaswamyIyer and Sundara Rama
iyer praised the founder of the organization justice
Sunder Iyer for this noble contribution. The sabha also
mourned the loss of Ganapthisastrigal.
I feel that these type of Upanyasams should be carried
out more often and if the Advvaithasabha publishes
all the discourses as a book that will be even great.
These type of Upanyasams should also happen in
Madhva and Vishishtadvaitha sampradayams. Even
though there are yearly efforts by Sri Ahobila Mutt
shishyasabha and Madhvasabha these are not
sufficient. Each of the sampradaya followers should
be able to listen to and understand the teachings of
their respective sampradaya propagators. In this matter
if Sri Azhagiyasingar (Jeer of Sri Ahobila Mutt) and the

achieve task for Vishishtadvaitha.
In the same editorial there are also discussions on
issues regarding Hindi as national language which
is out of context to our topic of Ahobila Mutt and hence
not brought into.
A sabha meeting was organized at Madurantakam
during October 20, 1913. In that Sabha there were
discussions about renovation of Adi van
satakopamahadesikan Brindavanam at Melkote and
people felt that similar to the renovation of this
brindavanam which was successfully conducted by Sri
Jeer of Ahobila Mutt there is also a need to take up
renovation of other brindavanams and establishments
of the Mutt. They felt that in Thyagarajapuram, Srivan
Satakopa Sri Narayana Swamybrindavanam should
also be renovated as it is in a highly dilapidated state.
Also they felt that the Dilapadated buildings at Ahobilam
should be renovated. Pictures of dilapidated state were
shown and discussed upon. Two resolutions were
taken:
1. There was a formation of Maduranthakam
division of Ahobila Mutt Shishyasabha
2. Next Mahasangam will be held at
Madurantakam during December 1913.
All the members prayed under the leadership of Azhwar
Ramanujachariar and Pagal Divatti Satakopachariar
to Lord Lakshmi Nrusimha for successful conduct of
the next Mahasangam at Madurantakam before close
of the sabha. They were also lauded for their great
contributions by money and land to the Madurantakam
temple. The very fact that there are such great souls
living in Madurantakam in those days was a primary
reason to organize the next Mahasangam there..

Notice to Centre on TTD plea against service tax
The Supreme Court on Friday decided to examine
whether the services rendered by the Tirumala Tirupati
Devasthanams to pilgrims, including accommodation
and sevas, would come within the purview of service tax.
Issuing notice on a writ petition filed by the TTD, a Bench
of Justices A.K. Patnaik and Ibrahim Kalifulla restrained
authorities from taking coercive steps to recover from it
service tax, said to be more than Rs. 6 crore.
The former Attorney-General and senior counsel, K.
Parasaran, submitted that the Centres move violated
fundamental rights to practise ones religion. Besides
service tax on accommodation, demands were being
made even on various sevas, he said.
The petition sought quashing of the provisions of the
Finance Act on levy of service tax as violative of Articles 26
(freedom to manage religious affairs), 27 (freedom as to
payment of taxes for promotion of any particular religion),
and 14 (right to equality). Notice was also issued,
returnable in two weeks, on a plea for an interim stay.
The TTD challenged the constitutional validity of Sections
65 (105) and 66 B of the Act, which impose service tax on
facilities, saying these were incidental and integral to
provision of basic amenities to pilgrims. The incomes
generated from rent/lease/licence fees... are all used for
maintenance of the premises and for developing more
and better facilities. There are no private holdings at
Tirumala, and even in Tirupati, amenities are provided
near all major temples, and choultries/rest houses are
offered to pilgrims at very reasonable rates.
The petition said the TTD was not engaged in any
commercial activity and was merely performing duties
as mandated under the Andhra Pradesh Charitable and
Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act, 1987.

Chilkur Balaji's Grace - 115

We are better off financially...
My husband is a teacher and also does Real
Estate Business. Since one year his business is dull
and we also suffered a lot financially. We also have
poultry farms which was running in loss. I started reading
"Runa Vimochana Nrusimha Stotram" and within a week
lot of changes occurred we got 2.5 lakh profit in a flat
sale. We also chant Aksharaya Namaha by which my
children are studying well. We have performed 108
Pradakshinams 4 times and I had Darshan many times.
A Devotee
Hyderabad.

Devotees, Please send your experiences to us.

We will publish them for the benefit of others.
