Genre: Poetry
The following are key characteristics of free-verse and
narrative poetry:
-Written without a traditional rhyme scheme
or meter. Often uses the varied rhythms of
everyday speech.
-May include patterns of sound, such as
alliteration or assonance, to create an effect.
Often uses figurative and descriptive language
to create imaginative comparisons and vivid
images.
- Narrative poetry tells a story. Includes story
elements such as character, setting, and plot
to tell about a problem and its resolution.
