Social Studies Skills Tutor

We will be reviewing social studies skills for the rest of the year. This will be done
primarily through the Prentice Hall Social Studies Skills Tutor. There are four main
categories on the website: Geographic Literacy, Visual Analysis, Critical Thinking
and Reading, and Communications. This website will help you learn, practice, and
apply the skills necessary for learning social studies. These skills will be used in
our sixth grade social studies and future classes.
What youll need to do: You will be responsible for learning, practicing, and
applying one skill a week. There are two levels for each skill, and you will need to
do each step for both level one and level two. Every Monday, I will give you two
skills worksheets that you will need to complete and turn in by the following
Friday. You will receive a schedule of when all the skills will be due, and you are
expected to keep that with you in your social studies notebook. If you are absent
for any reason, I still expect this to be turned in on time because you know what is
due ahead of time.
How youll be graded: Each skill worksheet will be taken up as a quiz grade,
which is 30% of your grade. The first ten skills will be included in your third
quarter grade, and the last eight skills will be included in your fourth quarter
grade.

Student Signature:
I understand that I am responsible for learning, practicing, and applying the
specified social studies skill each week. I will turn in the completed worksheet by
the due date which will be taken as a quiz grade. If I need to access the internet
at school to complete this, I will let Ms. Baissa know a week in advance, so that I
can complete it at school.
