How To Make Homemade Hashish

Dear Max,
I would like to get the real story on how to make my own hash. I have heard what
I believe are a few old wives' tales, but nothing technical.
I would appreciate any and all information you can give.

Hashish is produced when the THC-containing resin glands from a cannabis plant a
re separated from the vegetative matter, collected, and then compressed into blo
cks. Several devices have been developed to aid in the separation process, but a
ny grower willing to spend a few bucks and take the time can produce high qualit
y hash at home.
The easiest way to separate and collect resin glands is by sifting them through
fine mesh screens like those used to screen print T-shirts. To do this, thorough
ly dry the product and crumble the buds onto the screen. I recommend chilling th
em in the freezer for a short time. This will harden the resin and make it easie
r to handle. Work the product back and forth on the screen by shaking it and pus
hing it around. Place a piece of glass or mirror under the screen to catch the f
alling glands. When you have finished, you'll have a powdery pile of amber resin
on your glass. This is often called kif. It can be smoked as is, or added to a
pipe or bong on top of some good home grown, or you can compress it into hashish
if you have access to a press.
