The Six Kingdoms

Archaebacteria
Eubacteria
Fungi
Protists

Single celled; lack cell nuclei reproduce by dividing in half Found In harsh environments
Single celled; lack cell nuclei reproduce by dividing in half Very common.
Absorb their food through their body surface have cell walls most live on land.
Most are single celled but some have many cells most live in water.

Plants

Many cells make their own food by photosynthesis and they have cell walls.

Animals

Many cells no cell walls ingest their food live on land and water.

Archaebacteria

Methanogens

Methanogens live in swamps and produce

methane gas. They are single celled and
reproduce by dividing in half.
Impact on Environment- The
Archaebacteria help to clean the
environment.
Thermophiles
Thermophiles live in hot springs they
are also single celled and they
reproduce by dividing in half.

Eubacteria

Cyanobacteria

Cyanobacteria- They reproduce by dividing in

half and they are Found in aquatic habitats.
Also they obtain and use energy by
photosynthesis.
Impact on environment- The Eubacteria
Break down Organic material.

Proteobacteria- Commonly found in soils and

in animal intestines. Reproduce by dividing
in half.

Proteobacteria

Fungi

Ramaria maculatipes
Coral mushroom

Coral Mushroom- The coral mushroom lives

on land. The mushroom absorbs its energy.
And it has a cell wall. This mushroom
releases spores.
Impact on environment- Fungi break
down organic materials found in their
ecosystem.
Varnish Fungus Rot- The Varnish fungus
lives on land. It absorbs its own food. And
it also has a cell wall. And the mushroom
Releases spores as its form of
reproduction.

Protists
Phacodinium- Has one cell. Lives in the water.
And the Species Gets its energy from the sun.
Reproduces asexually.
Impact on environment- Dinoflagellates
Produce a neurotoxin that can harm humans
as well as marine life.
Dinoflagellates- Single celled organism. Lives in
the water. Also called Red Tide. Obtains its
energy from the sun. Reproduces asexually.

Plants

Pine Tree

Pine Tree- Gains its energy through

photosynthesis. The pine tree has many cells.
The pine tree lives on land. Produces seeds
called cones. And they produce pollen for
reproduction.
Impact on environment- Plants produce large
levels of oxygen which is needed for life.
Ferns
Ferns- Gets its energy through photosynthesis.
The fern lives in damp places. Ferns produce
spores which is their method of reproduction.

Animals

Blue Jay

Blue Jay- Lives on land Ingests its food

mainly seeds and bugs. And has no
cell walls. The bird reproduces
sexually.
Impact on environment- Animals consume
and provide energy for other organisms.
Lizards
Lizard- Found on land, has no cell
walls ingests its own food mainly bugs
and has many cells. The lizard also
reproduces sexually.
