VIDA Veterinary Service Trip to Guatemala, December 2014
Spent nine days performing spays and neuters in rural Guatemala. One day was devoted to vaccinating,
deworming and supplementing production animals (including cows, horses, sheep, goats, and chickens.)

Arranged meetings on the value of evidence-based medicine when recommending supplements,
informational meetings with Nutramax and Standard Process, and a lunch meeting on natural hoof care.

Led first and second year students in basic physical exams, vaccinations, and deworming of shelter dogs
and cats. Arranged two dog wash fundraisers during my tenure, with donations from Dechra.

Conducted research on the effect of omega-3 fatty acids on canine B-cell lymphoma cell lines, and
presented research to the Auburn faculty and at the Merial Summer Scholars conference. Research
required development of skills in cell culture and maintenance, cell viability and fluorimetry testing,

Shift Supervisor at the Alabama Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, September 2010 August 2012
Clinical assistant trained in a variety of rehab techniques including fluid therapy, wing wraps, hand- and
force-feeding of birds, exam protocols, and quarantine protocols. Assist in handling and medication of
birds, both orally and via intramuscular injection. Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of

raptor, songbird, and waterfowl diets, the cleaning of each enclosure, and the stocking and inventory of the
clinic.
