Rationale:
I have included this lesson plan on Close Reading under Standard 8.
This lesson plan belongs under Standard 8 because it uses an
instructional strategy that encourages learners to develop a usable
understanding of the content of the story and will help to build skills
in order to apply the knowledge the students have learned. I enjoyed
teaching this lesson and doing the CLOSE Reading of the story with
the students. They enjoyed the using the chart to see how we were
going to read the story. The students responded well to this lesson
using the sticky notes to keep track of words they didnt know and
also to write the main idea of the story.
