The Concept of Human Rights

The concept of human rights embraces a certain universe of values


having to do with human dignity.
They necessarily belong to everyone inherently; human rights are
not granted by temporal authority, rather they are to be recognized
and upheld by it to maintain legitimacy.
All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator
with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty
and the pursuit of Happiness. - American Declaration of
