2. Project Introduction (Mike or Jessie)
- Regional Scope - Bike-Ped Plan will establish a region-wide multimodal vision with
goals,
objectives and a 25-year prioritized list of projects that integrate and maximize access
and mobility for bicycle, walking and transit access.
- While recreational trails or use may be improved or supplemented, they are not the
primary focus of this project.
- Focus on bike and pedestrian routes multi-modal mobility, connectivity and travel
choices across all modes transportation-oriented walkways and bikeways
- criteria for the types of projects we are interested in including in the plan
- Goals:
o a. Enhancing safety;
o b. Providing transportation equity
o c. Improving multimodal mobility and accessibility
o d. Maximizing transportation, transit investments, and assets
o e. Improving statewide and regional economies
o f. Increasing bicycling and walking activity
o g. Expanding recreational opportunities to enhance quality of life
o h. Improving public health
o i. Improving the environment and air quality by reducing fossil fuel dependence

Focus Group Goals


a. Assess general awareness of alternative transportation mode options to walk, bike and
ride transit
b. Gauge opinions on existing conditions for bicycle and pedestrian system connectivity and
access to regional transit facilities
c. Understand biking and walking infrastructure gaps or hazards
d. Identify either existing plans or desires for future enhancements to the regional bicyclepedestrian system (infrastructure, education, incentives, etc.)
e. Identify public and political support for future funding of enhancements to the regional
multimodal system.
f. Provide necessary materials including PowerPoint presentations, information boards,
handouts, and content for the project website.

Responsibilities
RFTA outreach/invitations/help with scheduling
Alta provide base maps of each community and the linkages between them (revised map
package from field visits) and inventory matrix.
DW provide stakeholder meeting questions and grant activity (reviewed by Alta and RFTA),
attend, facilitate and document meetings. Scan and send maps to Alta for compilation, send
meeting notes and other meeting materials to team.
