PLANNING Time, WORK Time, RECALL Time

This three-part sequence is unique to the HighScope Curriculum.
Occurring daily, it includes a 10- to 15-minute period during which
children plan what they want to do during work time (the area to visit,
materials to use, and friends to play with); a -minute work time for
children to carry out their plans (or shift to new activities that interest
them); and another 10- to 15-minute period for reviewing and
recalling with an adult and other children what they've done and
learned.
1. Alphabet Bingo: We practiced letter recognition today by
playing Alphabet Bingo. Each child ha a bingo card with 10
different letters on it. When the teacher called out a letter
their job was to search their board for that letter. If they had
it, they used a bingo marker to cover the square. When their
board was full they yelled out bingo!
2. Chalk Creations :
Using black paper and wet chalk, children explored with the different
materials to create their very own chalk-y masterpiece! Our
masterpieces are currently proudly hanging in our classroom.

3. Alphabet Cards & Uppercase Monkey Letters:

Using our alphabet carpet (with all the letters of the alphabet on it)
and our uppercase letter monkeys (each monkey has a different letter
on their belly), we played various matching games to help the
monkeys get safely to their homes. Children worked hard to identify
the letters on their monkeys and then match them properly.
