Descripcin:


SPA 300 is an advanced speaking course conducted ENTIRELY in the Spanish language.
The class is geared towards preparing each student to conduct themselves in different
situations they might find themselves in, and improving the overall fluency of each
participant. As such, it is broken into three parts: Conversation, Discussion, and
Presentation. Though natural communication is the main goal, grammar concepts will be
reviewed to enhance communication skills.

Objetivos:


*Students will become comfortable conversing in the Spanish languge in a variety of
situations through complete immersion during class time.
*Students will be able to communicate more fluidly as a result of improve confidence in
the language.
*Students will hone their grammar skills within the Spanish language through consistent
practice of them during class time.

Academic Integrity:


The Syracuse University Academic Integrity Policy holds students accountable for the
integrity of the work they submit. Students should be familiar with the Policy and know
that it is their responsibility to learn about instructor and general academic expectations
with regard to proper citation of sources in written work. The policy also governs the
integrity of work submitted in exams and assignments as well as the veracity of
signatures on attendance sheets and other verifications of participation in class activities.

Religious Observance Policy


SUs religious observances policy is at
http://supolicies.syr.edu/emp_ben/religious_observance.htm. For any accommodation, a
student MUST notifybefore the end of the second week of classeshis/her instructor
of any religious observance date during the semester. For fall and spring semesters, an
online notification process is available through MySlice/Student Services/Enrollment/My
Religious Observances from the first day of class until the end of the second week of
class. Speak with your instructor about specific accommodations once you have filled
out the online notification form.

Tecnologa:


Students are expected to act with respect at all times, including towards each other and
with the professor. This means that cell phones, lap tops, and tablets should be stored.
There is no need for them in this class. If students do not know a word, they should not
expect to use a translator. Instead, they should plan to utilize the vocabulary they are
familiar with to talk through a difficult situation.

The overall grade for the course is broken down as follows:

Participation: 50%
Oral Interviews: 25%
Presentations: 15%
Final Reflection: 10%

Participacin:

Students will receive a participation grade of 0-5 each class period. Students should
expect to utilize Spanish as the ONLY language of communiacation. Participation grades
are broken down as follows:

0: mising from class, extreme disturbance or lack of participation
1-2: student is in class, but not actually "present"; extreme tardiness
3: student participates minimally OR participates a great deal but is tardy
4-5: student participates a great deal
