Assessment Technology
way to assess standards. The use of the white board- clicker system, or the video recorder is a
good technology assessment to use. This way you and the student can see if they are
understanding what is taught.
In my classroom I would rather use the summative assessment along with the
technology tool smart board. This way after each unit is taught I will be able to see if the student
understands and I could use the smart board to have them work on skills that they did not quite
understand. The assessment software/ web tool write to learn will be used to assess the students
reading comprehension skills. The students will have to read a short story, then write what they
have learned. For this I would use formative assessment to assess the reading comprehension
skill. I would use the formative assessment to help the student identify their strengths and
weaknesses in the area of reading comprehension. This will help me to be able to address the
problem.
Another assessment software I would use would be learning ware I would use this
to review how well they can answer questions that I have asked. It would let me know if they
retained information on subjects in the area of language. Another assessment I would use is the
summative assessment. Using this I would be able to know what they need to learn about
questions asked.
The website tool Fun brain .com would be used to stimulate the math skills of the
students. It will be used to teach fractional parts with the students that struggle with math. I
would have students use fruit to identify fractional parts. I would use the summative assessment
by testing the students with digital worksheets to identify fractional parts.
Formative assessment is when you monitor a students learning so that you as a
teacher can give them feedback that will help them improve their learning. Summative

assessment is when the teacher evaluates the students learning by testing after they teach a
certain subject and they complete the unit. Formative is known to either have low or no point
value and summative is of high point value and is compared to the standard contents that a
teacher should teach. Technology can help both assessments because either one will give the
teacher feedback on what the students understand or they can determine what they need to teach
to improve the students learning.
Students can benefit from technology based skills and activities. This can monitor
students learning and boost their communication skills, but at the same time if the student does
not have the confidence needed to trust the use of technology the students learning can be
hampered.
Using technology as a way to assess students learning can be very helpful in
enhancing student learning. Although from time to time as a teacher using technology would be
set aside. Sometimes I will use my own assessment tools, like testing at the end of the units I
teach. Have group projects on various content areas and give midterm exams.
