Dear Akins High School Community,
The safety and well-being of our students is our No. 1 priority at Akins High School.
‘With this in mind, Iam writing to let you know about an incident that affected our
campus this morning,
At approximately 11:40 a.m, administrators received an anonymous call about the
Possibility of two students having explosive devices at school,
Austin ISD police officers were able to immediately locate the students and found
nothing suspicious. However, out of an abundance of caution, we placed the campus
lockdown for about 30 minutes.
After police determined the campus was safe, students were allowed to resume
normal activities. At this time, there is no information to indicate that any Akins
students or staff members were in danger.
We encourage all students to notify a responsible adult, campus leadership or police
any time they see something suspicious. The AISD Police Department may be
reached at (512) 414-1703.
We appreciate your support as we work together to ensure each student's safety
and security at and around our school. Ifyou have any questions or concerns, please
do not hesitate to contact me at (512) 841-9900.
Sincerely
Brandi Hos:
Interim Principal
