Invitation Letter

Dear Teresa Tyler,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been appointed to serve as a Reader at the
College Board's 2015 AP English Lit Reading. Invitations are extended annually, and
this invitation is for the June 2015 AP Reading only.
Participating in the AP Reading is an opportunity to:

Exchange ideas with faculty, teachers, and AP Development Committee members

Establish lifelong friendships with other professionals in your discipline

Become familiar with AP scoring standards, which provide valuable knowledge for
scoring your own students' essays
For your participation in the AP Reading, you will have the opportunity to earn
Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
As the AP Reading is a learning event, the outcomes expected are as follows:

Recognize criteria to meet each score point contained within the rubric

Identify the correct score point to be applied based on prescribed criteria

Apply the scoring rubric consistently and accurately to a wide range of constructed
responses
Successful completion for CEUs requires proficiency in the above listed learning
outcomes. Although full-time attendance is required, events may happen during the
Reading (e.g., illness or family emergency) that could reduce your attendance. CEUs
may be earned if a minimum of 85 percent attendance is completed.
Please respond to the online invitation and complete the online registration form within
three weeks to indicate whether you are able to accept this appointment. If your
response is not received within three weeks, your access to the website will expire and
another Reader will be appointed in your place.
If you miss the response deadline, contact us at 1-888-9-AP-READ or via email to
request an extension.
Reading Schedule:
The AP Reading will be held over a seven-day period at one of four sites within the
United States. Note: The daily Reading schedule for 2015 is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(including Saturday and Sunday). For your participation in the AP Reading, you will
receive a stipend in the amount of $1,639.
Late arrival, early departure or part-time attendance is not permitted. Refer to
the Reading schedules for your Reading location and dates by clicking on the "Reading
Dates and Locations" link under the Introduction tab at the top of this page.
Travel:
If you accept this invitation to attend the AP Reading, review the travel guidelines and
flight reservation process, and select your flight as soon as possible using the online
flight reservation system. Direct Travel is coordinating travel to the AP Reading sites.
Note: The level of service that individual airlines provide varies from city to
city, so travel may involve connecting flights.
Reading Site Logistics:
Lodging and meals will be provided at the Reading site. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are
served buffet style, and include options to accommodate most Readers. However, meals
may not suit all special dietary needs. Please view the sample menus and take this into
consideration when accepting the invitation.
Depending on your Reading location, there may be some walking on hilly terrain and
stair-climbing to and from the Reading facilities. Further details regarding the housing
process and housing request forms will be provided in late February.
Stipend and Travel Reimbursement:
Stipend checks will be issued by ETS no later than July 3, 2015. To receive
reimbursement for travel expenses, you must complete a 2015 Reader's Expense
Voucher, which will be available online from May through August. Allow four to six weeks
for processing.
Contact Us:
If you have questions about your invitation or the AP Reading, please contact us at 1888-9-AP-READ (1-888-927-7323) or via email at ReadAP@ets.org.
We hope you accept this invitation, and look forward to welcoming you as a 2015 AP

Sincerely,
