Career Development Activity 1


For Introduction to Business and
Technology, Business and Technology,
and Business Communications
Career Development Activity: The Introduction to Business and Technology classes have
been asked by my department head to help research salaries of specific jobs for our Senior
and Eighth Grade Reality Fairs and to document that information in Excel spreadsheets.
After they complete the spreadsheets for the reality fair, I will ask them to compare and
contrast the incomes of all the different jobs they researched in a well-designed
PowerPoint and present their information to the class. They are to report and discuss if
income is the leading factor that should determine their choice of employment after High
School and College Graduations.

Career Development Activity: Career Research Project

Objectives:

Activity:
Your first project of the year will make you start thinking about your career plans. Now is the time you
should be designing your education and career goals. You must be honest with yourself about where you
are in relationship to achieving your career goals. This project is about organizing and planning the steps
to achieving the career you are seeking. Please follow the guidelines carefully as you walk your way
toward your future career.
Research your career choice using www.gacollege411.org. Take one of the career profiling assessments.
Choose a career and create a PowerPoint Presentation. Your Presentation must include the following:
1. Goals (5 School, 5 Career, 5 Personal)-BAA Future Level requirement
2. Are there any remaining high school courses or activities you need to take or be involved with
during your senior year to prepare for your career?
3. Job Description
4. Promotion advancements and Salary
5. Work Conditions
6. Education and College Major

Career Development Activity: Reality Fair Participation

Goals/Objectives:
The Reality Fair is where students pick a career, they are given a paycheck with the
monthly salary for their career, and then they participate in the reality fair where they
pay their monthly bills. They visit several booths including mortgage, car dealership,
insurance, childcare, groceries, etc. to pay their bills and get a reality check.
