Unit 4 Week 6 Research Project

Due Wednesday February 11, 2015

Project Essential Question: How do people meet
environmental challenges?
You will research the effects of an environment-changing event.
You will then create an illustrated time line of the effects and how
people dealt with them.
Step 1: Pick on of the following historical events
Mount Vesuvius 79AD
Dust Bowl 1932
San Francisco Earthquake 1906
Hurricane Katrina 2005
Tsunami in Japan 2011
Step 2: Using the laptops provided research your event and take
jot notes about the important information. Make sure you use
reliable web sites. Make sure you list the websites you got the
information from.
Step 3: Review all of the facts and information you have
gathered. Highlight the most useful information you have found.
Now, think about how to present the material on a time line.
Consider different ways of illustrating the material. (Meaning
each time line event needs a picture with it) LOOK AT THE
EXAMPLE ON THE WHITE BOARD
Step 4: Create your time line.
** YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST FOUR EVENTS ON YOUR TIME
LINE

Does the time line show the beginning, middle, and end?
Is the challenging even and the response to the event clear?
Does the time line show the cause and effect of the event?
Is it neat and clean?
Is it clearly labeled?

Make sure your time line looks good enough to be

hung in the hallway
