I agree, with the opinion that acts that may be considered immoral should be
illegal. I have to be honest and also admit that I am basing my opinion from 30
years as a Sunni Muslim and 10 years as a Christian. It teaches in the Bible and the
Holy Quran that immoral acts are offensive to GOD, and should be punished
according to the laws of the Religion. In America, we are still struggling with crime
and indecent behavior at an alarming rate. We have rights and freedoms, that we
take for granted and others exploit for monetary gain. I personally do not gamble
but I have before on certain occasions, and so have some of my friends and family. I
have seen people win money and pay off their bills, only to turn around the next
month and lose three times as much money. The pros of immoral acts becoming
illegal, is that it would send a message to future generations, that we took a stand
in America and decided to live by GODs law. It would teach our kids that sex before
marriage, pornography, gambling, drug use etc. is not an acceptable part of our
culture. The Cons of immoral acts, becoming illegal is that our prison system would
increase at an alarming rate, and the Government would temporarily shut down.
The reason is, we would need all new politicians and law enforcement officials, who
never committed an immoral act, to enforce those who commit immoral acts. In
other words, I believe in leading and following by example, and if it is illegal for one
of us not to do something, then it should be enforced across the board.
