This document provides guidance for completing make-up work for an Earth and Space science assessment. It includes instructions for open-ended and multiple choice questions on topics like the dodo bird, biofuels, rivers vs oceans, celestial bodies, the rock cycle, phases of the moon, soil types, estuaries, wetlands, watersheds, product lifecycles, cloud identification, global winds, climate differences, and the gravitational force that governs the solar system. The student is advised to look up definitions, use diagrams and evidence from provided readings to explain and support their answers.

-Pay attention to the dates. Base your factors on what is given. Make connections between the two blocks of information and explain a possible scenario. Do not clump all ideas into one spot. Use sentences that clearly indicate what you are relaying to your reader. ii. Bio fuel multiple choice: -Look up the definition of standard of living. You can use that definition in your support of the correct answer. iii. River Ocean Open-ended: -Be clear. Do not clump answers. Pick 2-ways that rivers and oceans are alike either in content or behavior. Then Pick 2-ways that they are not alike in physical characteristics or possibly behaviors. If in doubt look it up and do not guess. There are some anomalies like estuaries but these are not the norm. iv. Celestial Bodies: This is simply looking up the definitions of each. Since definitions are already there and you basically just have to match them, your explanation should be an explanation of a method to remember the difference. Regular Assessment Questions: Remember to use explanations and/or diagrams to give evidence to your new and correct choice. 1. Refer to the rock cycle. 2. Know how long ago 50 million years is. Do records from humans exist from that date? What kind of records do? Realize that you do not have a time-machine. 3. Look up the phases of the moon cycle. Realize the two dates you are working with and in what order. Use a table to help you count how many days for each phase. 4. Look up the definitions of the celestial bodies. They should be in your articles. Remember that there are 3 categories reporting. See the table. The definition has to match all three. 5. Look up soil type in Pennsylvania in your Soil article. Remember that Pennsylvania is filled with deciduous (one that looses leaves every season) trees. 6. The articles address this question. Find that passage. 7. Look up the definition of an estuary. Know the densities of these types of water.
8. Look up the definition of a wetland.
9. Coal mines produce a lot of wastes. Sulfur creeks are common around areas that contain mines. Just ask anyone who has a well filled with "egg-water". Then look up the definition of a watershed. 10. Look up the definitions of the choices given. 11. Draw the life-cycle of a product including the movement between the stages. 12.Use the reading material in the scenario provided. 13. Use the reading material and diagram in the scenario provided. Look up cloud identification in your articles. 14. Look up the definitions for the different global winds. Locate Pennsylvania on a global map, identify the latitude. 15. Pay attention to the key information given in the statement. Find Texas and Maine on a Map. Look at the land and water. List what conditions exists on land and in the ocean currents that may help you answer. 16. This question is NOT about rotation and revolution (that was a quiz question). This is about a FORCE. there are four forces that we consider in the universe. Identify that force which governs solar system configuration. THEN DEFINE the force. Make sure you identify the 2 measurable factors that this force depends on. After doing this you can answer the second part. Here, based on what you revealed about the force, you are to compare the Sun to a comet(or asteroid). What is the main difference that keeps the planets orbiting about the sun.
