Option 1) Each team needs to investigate and present to the rest of the class what they believe
are the conclusions that will help students understand what they need to know about their topic.
The timing is pre-determined - two topics per day, 3 days, eight presentations.
Core Objectives
1) Empathy - Describe the evolution of the different stages in the relations between First Nations
and Europeans changed between 1500 - 1760.
2) Empathy - Describe life in New France and a New England colony (North, Central, or South).
3) Compare and Contrast - Explain the differences and similarities between the New England
colonies and the New French colonies.
4) Cause and Effect - Explain the effects of the Fur Trade on both the French colony and the
First Nations?
5) Evaluate - Outline the weaknesses and strengths of the French and English in war? Who
had the most advantages or was most likely to win?
6) Morality - Explain whether what happened to the colony of New France after the war was just
or not.
7) Empathy/Evaluation - Explain how New France could have remained a French colony.
8) Cause and effects - Explain the effects of the loss of New France on the history of Canada
and the USA to 1783..
