1. For what value of m, the vector (m,3,1) is a linear combination of

e1=(3,2,1) and e2=(2,1,0).
2. Prove that vector (1,1,0), (3,1,3) and (5,3,3) are linearly dependent.
3. Determine the Eigen values and corresponding Eigen vectors for the
matrix

4. At a certain university, 4% men are over 6 feet tall and 1% women are
over 6 feet tall. The total student population is divided in the ration 3:2 in
favour of women. If a student is selected at random from among all over
six feet tall, what is the probability that the student is a woman?
5. An insurance company divides its policy holders into 3 categories: low
risk, moderate risk and high risk. The low risk policy holders accounts for
60% of the total number of people insured by the company. The moderate
risk policy holders account for 30% and the high risk policy holders
account for 10%. The probabilities that a low risk, moderate risk and high
risk policy holder will file a claim within a given year are .01, .10 and .50
respectively. Given that a policy holder files a claim this year, what is the
probability that the person is a high risk policy holder?
6. Find the extrema of F(x,y) = x2y ln(x) subject to
0 = g(x,y):=8x+3y
