JOHN SUTTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL "To prepare every student to succeed in an ever-changing world” November 19, 2014 ‘To Whom It May Concern, My name is Linda Rich and | am a fourth grade teacher at Sutter Elementary School in the Santa Clara Unified School District. | am writing this letter on behalf of Julie Pellegrini, who was my student teacher from August 18 to October 17, 2014. Julie began her student teaching on the first day of the new school year when we had a Code Red due to a threatening phone call to our office. Although alarmed, Julie managed to maintain a level head and was able to comfort students as well as some parents. it was quite an exciting first day of school for all of us and it did not scare her away. Julie settled in and through observations, she learned the classroom’s rituals and routines. She was very anxious to be involved with the students and very soon she took over the spelling lessons and read alouds to the class. From there she began teaching math and social studies. She worked very hard to take over for her solo week and did an outstanding job. Julie worked hard to learn our curriculum and approached every lesson with enthusiasm. She was at ease with students, parents and other staff members. She presented herself extremely professionally with an air of confidence, but also with a warmth about her that put people at ease. She is very comfortable with technology and was able to use the Smart Board easily. She even taught me a few things. Julie attended staff meetings, professional development and after school events at The students responded well to Julie’s teaching and were very sad to see her leave to go to her next assignment. the teaching field.
