As a follow-up to the email we sent in January, we would like to give you some final information

regarding admission into the Bachelor of Nursing (Collaborative) Program offered at Memorial
University:

Deadline to Apply: The deadline to apply to the Program is March 1. ALL documents
must be received in our Office, or post-marked, by March 1.

Midterm Grades: High school students must submit a copy of their February/midterm
grades by the March 1st deadline to the Nursing Consortium Office. Without these
grades, the Nursing application cannot proceed any further. The Nursing Consortium
Office does not have access to the required midterm grades, therefore these grades
must be submitted. The grades can be emailed, faxed or mailed to the Nursing
Consortium Office by the student or by the school at the student's request. The contact
information for the Nursing Consortium is listed on our website:
http://www.mun.ca/nursingadmissions/ContactUs/

Required Courses for Nursing: Students must complete Biology 2201, Biology 3201,
Chemistry 3202, English 3201, Math 3200, 3201, 3204 OR 3205, along with two credits
at the 3xxx level in Social Science or a Modern Language. This link will help you:

Nursing Admission Decisions: Admission decisions (accepted, wait listed and not
accepted) will be emailed to the applicants MUN email account as well as their
personal email account by mid-April. Please encourage your students to set-up their
MUN account and check it regularly:
http://www.mun.ca/cc/munmail/makethechoice.php Additionally, please encourage
them to check the junk mail folder of their personal email account as admission decision
letters have gone in this folder instead of the inbox in the past.

Tracking Receipt of Documents: Students can track receipt of their documents online in
the same place they applied by logging in and viewing the receipt status. Please Note: it
can take us several days to manually enter documents in the system once we receive
them, therefore students should keep checking regularly for updates.

Reference Information: Information pertaining to references, along with the link to the
Form can be on the Nursing Admissions website:
http://www.mun.ca/nursingadmissions/Admission/ReferenceForm/ Please Note: the
Reference Form works best with Internet Explorer. Additionally, if it is easier, the form
can be scanned and emailed or faxed to us in the Nursing Consortium Office. Reference
forms, along with all other required documentation, are required to be received by the
March 1st deadline.

MPT: High school students who have applied to Nursing should write the Math
Placement Test (MPT). The writing will now take place in September. Students should
receive a 50% or higher on this test. If they do not pass the MPT, they should complete
102N at Memorial University. The MPT is required for the course, Nursing 2004, which
they will have to complete if they are accepted into the Nursing Program.

Separate Admission Decisions: There are two separate admission decisions that are
made, one to Memorial University and one to Nursing. If applicants are not accepted to
Nursing, they can still study at Memorial University, if accepted, and apply to Nursing
next year. Many students complete the non-nursing courses at Memorial University if
they do not get accepted to Nursing from high
school: http://www.mun.ca/nursingadmissions/NonNursingCourses/

If students are accepted to Nursing: Once students find out they have been accepted to
Nursing in mid-April, they wont hear anything from their specific Nursing site until the
end of June when the Nursing site mails their Orientation packages. In the meantime,
this link will help:

Email: If you should not receive this email and/or you know of someone that should
receive this email but is missing from the list, please let us know.
