Philosophy
Music affects people in different ways. Whether they are affected physically,
emotionally, or a combination of the two, everyone is affected differently. It is for this reason I
believe music education to be so important in the development of a student. Music has the
capacity to elicit a vast array of physical, mental, and emotional sensations on an individuals
mind and body. I feel that teaching in general, is a profession in which we inspire students to
become who they will be. Teachers have an enormous impact on the future of their students, as
they are in a position to provide each student with the skills they will need to be successful in the
future. It is my desire, as a music educator, to present my students with the skills they need to be
successful in many aspects of their life. Not only through music, but also by assisting them to
become the best version of themselves and to achieve goals greater than what they originally
thought possible. I truly believe that every person has the potential to create or benefit from
music, and it is my ultimate desire to enhance that ability within each of my students.
