What makes equality such a difficult subject is that we only
want it with our superiors. (Henry Becque)
I think this statement means that people want to be equal
with those above them on the social scale, but not many would be willing to limit their privileges and advantages by guarantying equality to those they consider to be below them. Always there will be a difference between people and equality seems to be something ideal, something imposible. Otherwise, I think what separates one poor man from one rich is first of all luck. It is not our choice where are we born. For example, there is a big difference between orphan kids and kids from a healthy middle class family, or between kids born in Zimbabwe and kids born in Germany. However, it doesnt mean that if a person is in a poor situation he/she has to wait a superior to help him because if I have more, for example, that must mean Im a better person than someone who doesnt. To sum up, I think even if we are born in a poor place or in a poor family, we have to be ambitious and we have to raise our level and find the best way to follow in life.
