WOMEN OF THE BIBLE

QUEEN ESTHER

Esther was the Jewish Queen of the Persian king, Ahasuerus. She was an orphan girl, raised by her
uncle, Mordecai. He gave her a home when she was a small child after her mother and father had died.
The name Esther means, STAR. She was given that name because of her beauty. As a young woman,
she was commanding, commendable and born to be a leader! She was of the utmost beauty of
countenance and elegance. But most of all she was chosen of God and well favored of Him. Her
destiny was to save her people from destruction. Her Hebrew name was HADASSAH (Esther 2:7) which
means A-MYRTLE, the Myrtle was a plant of SWEET-scented and luxuriant beauty!
HER BEAUTY, WISDOM AND VIRTUE WERE THE GREATEST GIFTS GOD GAVE HER. SHE WAS LIKE A DIAMOND.
WELL SET FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD, AND WELL FAVORED BY THE KING OF KINGS!!

It put great stress and pressure on Queen, Esther and her Uncle, Mordicai to intervene for the lives of
all the Jews residing in the Persian Empire. The law and decree of king, Ahasueres had gone forth
through wicked Haman to exterminate all the Jews in that province. But, Esthers Uncle, Mordecai
sent her urgent word for her to go before the king, to make a request for the lives of all her people.
These are the words Mordecai said to her:
ESTHER 4:14
AND WHO KNOWETH WHETHER THOU ART COME TO THE KINGDOM
FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS.

So Esther made a decree for all the Jews to fast and pray three days and three nights so
she could find favor with king, Ahasuerus.

ESTHER 4:16
I ALSO AND MY MAIDENS WILL FAST LIKEWISE; AND SO WILL I GO IN UNTO THE KING, WHICH IS NOT ACCORDING TO
THE LAW: AND IF I PERISH, I PERISH.

ESTHER

HAD TO GO THROUGH A CEREMONY OF PURIFICATION BEFORE SHE COULD

ENTER INTO THE KINGS PRESENCE!

On the third day, Queen, Esther put on her apparel and stood in the inner court of
the kings palace. As king, Ahasuerus sat upon his throne, he saw Esther standing
in the court. That was a fearful place for her to be without permission. But Esther
found grace in the eyes of her Lord! King, Ahasuerus extended the golden scepter
toward her, signifying his favor and that she might approach him. So she came
close to him and touched the scepter with her hand. Then the king asked her:

Esther 5:6
What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be
performed.
Wow! What FAVOR Esther had with the king!!

The Queen requested her life to be spared and the lives of all her people. King, Ahasuerus was
astonished to realize that his Queen was about to be a victim of his own law! He immediately sent a
decree to all the provinces and issued a new law, granting life to all the Jewish people!!
They still had to contend with evil Haman, the kings attendant, for he had stood in satans place to
accuse Mordecai and his people before the throne. He had obtained written permission to put all the
Jews to death because Mordicai would not bow down to him at the gate.
Gods righteousness always prevails! It took Queen, Esther, the kings Bride, to boldly come before the
throne with great prayers of intercession coming from her and all her people to bring about
deliverance from death! The Spirit of travail is what released Gods people that were in bondage.

Death was swallowed up in Victory!!

Vashti, the former Queen, lost her position through disobedience.

And, beautiful, faithful, Esther took her place!

What we learn from the book of Esther is many who have the high calling of God have been
disobedient and rebellious to the King of kings and have missed their calling. Through trails they
have stepped back to their old ways instead of stepping forward by faith!
The Lord is giving us an opportunity to be overcomers and obtain our INHERITANCE!!

Queen Esther is our example of Gods truth if we continue in His work!
