Webquests require a task for the for the students to complete during

the activity; such as a problem or mystery to be solved, personal

insight, something that will require the learners to process and
transform the information that they gathered. Give the students a
process outlining the webquest in order to complete the webquest
efficiently. Must keep in mind that the students may or may not have
knowledge about the subject beforehand, so the webquest must be
informative.

Elementary math includes number theory, which is the study of whole
numbers and relations between them. This unit includes in-depth
instruction on factors, multiples, primes, composites, divisibility tests, and
exponents. An emirp (prime spelled backwards) is a prime that gives you
a different prime when its digits are reversed. For example, 13 and 31 are
emirps

Mathematic Fundamentals:
1. What is elementary number theory?
2. Give an example of how can multiples help you with gardening?
3. What is a factor?
4. What is 1,729,463 raised to the zero power?
5. Is 25 the same as 2 x 5? Explain why or why not using full sentences.
6. What is the Fibonacci sequence?
7. Write the Fibonacci sequence on paper.

8. What is the rule for this sequence? Write your answer using your own
words.
9. Is the number 31 prime or composite? Explain your answer.
10.

Is the number 747 prime or composite? Explain your answer.

11.
How did you arrive at your answer to questions 9 and question
10? What method did you use for each?
12.

Why do we use divisibility tests?

13.
Which test(s) will determine if the number 876 is prime or
composite? Explain your answer.
14.

What is the Sieve of Eratosthenes?

15.

Find all prime numbers less than 100.

16.

What is the smallest prime number?

Evaluation, self and group:

1) Switch your answers with a classmate or group member.
2) Review each other's answers.
3) Exchange ideas: Discuss what you have learned.
4) Assess your ability to find information in this Webquest.
5) Assess your ability to learn from the information you found.
6) Which tasks were easy for you?
7) Which tasks did you struggle with?
8) Did your group work well with each other?
9) Which prime number is even?
10) What is an emirp?
11) List all emirps between 1 and 50.

Information to be put into the webquest:

- Elementary number theory is the branch of number theory in which
elementary methods (i.e., arithmetic, geometry, and high school algebra) are
used to solve equations with integer or rational solutions.

- In gardening you have limited space and limited seeds, each which occupy a
certain amount of space, in order for all the seeds to fit properly you can use
mathematics to divide the garden appropriately
- Factors- numbers that when multiplied with another number with produce an
expression or a product of significant value.
-Numbers going through exponential growth. Numbers raised to the power of 0
always equal 1, numbers raised to the power of 1 always equal the number that
is undergoing exponential growth.
-numbers undergoing exponential growth are then multiplied by themselves
multiple times (number of the exponent), 2^8=2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2=
256,
Or 2x2=4x2=8x2=16x2=32x2=64x2=128x2=256
