Schools Counseling Programs Mission Statement
The North-Grand High School Counseling Department is committed to creating a safe and supportive learning
environment based on the belief that all students have intrinsic value and can be successful, life-long learners
and contributing community members. To that effect, the Counseling Department, in collaboration with
students, families, staff, and the community, provide a data-driven, comprehensive developmental counseling
program to meet the needs of all students.
School Counseling Program Goal(s), 2015-2016
The school counseling program will focus on the following student achievement, attendance, behavior, or school safety
goals this year. Details of counseling activities tied to these goals are then recorded in the Program Goal Action Plan
template of the Evidence Based Implementation Plan.
Program Goal Statements
1 Academic

By spring 2016, we will see a 2% increase for average PSAE composite scores for
Juniors due to implementation of test taking and study skills curriculum.
Personal Social
By Spring 2016, freshmen will have engaged in a curriculum focusing on healthy
communication and conflict resolution, resulting in a 25% decrease in misconduct
reports and a 50% increase in understanding regarding how to resolve conflict
and utilize "I" statements.
College and Career
By Spring of 2016, the percentage of students for post-secondary enrollment will
increase by 5% due to a curriculum focusing on college match, application
support, and financial literacy.

The school counseling advisory council will meet on the following dates:
Sept. 15, 2015, Feb. 1, 2016, and May 2, 2016
