ASSIGNMENT 6 (PROBABILITY THEORY)

1. A fair die is rolled 3 times and the outcome of each roll is recorded. What is the
possibility to get the same number for the outcomes or none of the outcomes contain
number 3?
2. Assumed that there are 10 men and 15 women working in the Deans office of Faculty of
Computer Science and Information System.
a) How many combinations to form a committee of 3 men and 3 women?
b) How many combinations to form a group of 6 peoples which contains at least 1
woman?
3. Assumed that there are 100 participants in a lucky draw competition. There are 3 prizes
being offered which are the grand prize, second prize and third prize. The winners are
randomly selected. What is the probability that Jamilah can win one of the prizes, if she
participates in the competition?
4. If A and B are events of mutually exclusive and P(A)=0.4 and P(B)=0.5, find:
