Introduction
We would present this activity to the class by introducing them to the idea that
they will be in charge of creating a work of literature. We present them with the idea
that they will be given a starting point in the short story of current study and will have to
collaborate to create the ending of that selection. This assignment will allow the
students to collaborate through technology and produce their own creative writing while
encouraging the creativity of their classmates as well.

Main Activity
This activity would be assigned as a week long homework task.
Steps:
1. Read a short story up until a little before the ending.
2. Each student will select a 30 minute block of time on a day Monday thru
Thursday that they will be free at home to complete the task.
3. Each student would read the consecutive posts before them and create another
post about a paragraph in length that adds on to the story.
4. The last student will complete the story.
5. The story will be discussed in class, and then the actual conclusion of the
selection will be read and compared to the students creation.
6. Not only will this be a fun, engaging activity, but the end product will
demonstrate to the students how capable they are of collaborating and creating a
well developed work of literature.

Guidance
We would provide guidance by doing a short example in class. First off, we would
share a personal example and possibly one from previous students. We would make sure
that they know their portion of the story can be as creative and outlandish as they want
as long as the story flows smoothly. Additionally, it would be beneficial to show a video
clip of a short story that takes a lot of unexpected turns to get their creative juices
flowing. Finally to kick-off the assignment and begin the creative process, we could
engage in a game of Mad Libs. Now the students are warmed up and ready to produce
their very own

Student Evaluation
Students will be evaluated using a basic rubric that encompasses the main
objectives of the curriculum standards. The rubric will be clearly organized to the level
of understanding of the 6th grade students. This will allow the students to fully
comprehend the teachers evaluation of their work and be able to improve their creative
writing skills. The students writing would be graded based on four basic principles:
organization, grammar, sentence fluency and word choice, and most importantly
creativity. The students would be graded on a point scale of 1-4 in each of these
categories, 4 being the highest scoring amount of points. Each point value would give a
clear and concise explanation of the reason for the score.

Technological Resources
We will use Google Drive as the main technological resource. A google doc will be
created that will be accessible and editable by all students. This encourages
collaboration and creativity. Also, build in Google Drive is a chat system. This system
allows people to comment, talk about what could happen, and make suggestions. It is
also a great way for each student to practice proofreading others works.
