    The Singapore Civil Defence Force is informing relevant professional bodies about an upcoming mandatory switch to using the Structural Eurocodes for structural fire safety design standards instead of the British Standards. A two-day training course on 17-18 November 2014 will prepare qualified persons on structural fire design based on the Eurocodes before they are required to use it for structural plan submissions starting 1 April 2015. More training sessions may be added in early January 2015 if needed. Details can be found on the SCDF and BCA websites.

    IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STRUCTURAL EUROCODES FOR FIRE SAFETY
    The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is mandating the use of the Structural
    Eurocodes (SS EN) to replace the British Standards (BS) as the design standard for
    structural plan submission with effect from 1 Apr 2015. With the switchover to Eurocodes in
    Apr 2015, the relevant Qualified Persons (QPs) need to be trained on the aspect of structural
    fire design.
    2.
    To prepare them in making plans submission relating to structural fire protection
    before the implementation of the Structural Eurocodes, a 2-day course on 17 and 18 Nov
    2014 has been prepared. This course will include actions on structures exposed to fire (EC1
    Part 1-2), Structural Fire Design on Concrete Structures (EC2 Part 1-2), Structural Fire
    Design on Steel Structures (EC3 Part 1-2), and Design of Composite Steel and Concrete
    Structures (EC4 part 1-2). Additional runs of this course can be conducted in early Jan 2015
