01-03 filling out forms properly.

This bench mark I chose because I had to fill out a form properly when I applied for
a job. It is very important to fill it out forms properly otherwise if you dont you most
likely wont get the job. This is not only important with applying for a job but also in
any kind of school work and college applications.

02-08 going and taking instructions
I chose this bench mark because at my job I train the new host. I take instructions
from my manger and listen to them but then I get to go and go tell those
instructions to the new employees.

03-11 reading materials to gather information

This bench mark I used because we had to read a book and gather information out
of that book to do a book project. We had specific questions to answer and had to
do a power point on it. I got a good grade on this project.

04-14 performing basic calculations
Everyone has used calculator weather if it was in a math class in a school or even at
home doing your math homework. It doesnt even have to be math class you still
need to know how to use basic calculations for other subjects in school.

05-24 following safety procedures
It is very important to follow safety procedures when having a job, especially when
working in a restaurant. When working at a any job if you dont follow the safety
procedures you will get in trouble or even worse get seriously hurt.

06-28 Recognizing and defining problems
This benchmark I chose because I thought it was a good one that was based on
school work. If you are doing work the wrong way and keep turning it that way you
are going to get a bad grade. You have to recognize the problem and fix it to get
good grades and pass.

07-36 planning for a decision that significantly impacts you
A decision that would significantly impact me would be the college I choice and the
career I pick. A college is only for four years but if I pick a career that I do not enjoy
then that impacts the rest of my life. Both these decision can impact my life and
many ways good or bad.

08-38 understanding the task and creating a work plan
I chose the benchmark because I had to understand the task for creating the
portfolio and there was a lot of work so I had to create a work plan to get it all done
on time to pass the class. It is a very good to create a work plan so you dont
procrastinate even though I do.

09-44 observing, considering, and describing better ways to get a job done
When I graduate college I plan on getting a well paying job. I plan on owning some
sort of business and I will want find better way to get the job done so my business is
a success.

10-50 developing a personal plan of action to set personal and career goals
Developing a personal plan is me setting personal goals. I have a lot of personal
goals so I can become successful after college and live a wealthy life.

Benchmark #11
11-58 using group planning and goal-setting
I have had to do a lot of group projects to do in high school and it is important to
work as a group together to get the project done. You want to plan as a group and
decide how to do the project. Otherwise the group will not work together and only
one or two people will finish the project.

Benchmark #12
12-63 accepting others culture traditions.
It is import to accept others to matter what their culture is. You will be around many
people that are a different culture as yourself and a different race. When you get a
career, you will be around other cultures and religions people live by. You dont
judge them. I have had to sit by some people in school that are the same culture as
me but I accept them and dont judge them.

13-74 making and following a set of rules
At work I have to follow the rules. Then again I kinda get to make my own rules. I
train all the new hostess that get hired. This part I get to make up my own rules and
use them and even boss them around to do the dirty work so I dont have to.

14-76 leading the team in developing its mission
I always try to be a team leader and I get told I am a great one. When I was allowed
to play sports I always tried to lead my teammates and complete the mission, which
is win the game. Since I cant play sports any more I tend to use this when working.
It can be very helpful.

15-80 helping other team members accomplish there goals

I have always been told I am a good team leader and work well in groups. i always
try to help other accomplish their goals also. For example if a friend of mine just
wants to shoot one three pointer in the game, Im going to pass him the ball and
give him the opportunity

16-02 writing legibly, using correct spelling and grammar
During high school you want to write neat and spell correctly and use the correct
grammar. This is something that will help you a lot. It can help you writing class
papers and also filling out college applications, even applying for a job. It helped me
out when I applied for my first job I use to have sloppy hand writing.

17-19 using a calculator to solve problems
I took a accounting class which was awful. It was super boring and Im not going to
be a accountant or anything close to it. I hate math but in that class I did have to
solve problems on a calculator almost every day.

18-6 using business or technical terms as needed.
My first job was working at Applebees. I learned a lot from working at this job and
how the restaurant life works. One term I learned was 86 meant they were out of a
item so like 86 boneless wings. I thought it was weird and why the number 86 but I
still learned a lot.

19-34 having a good school/work attendance record
For me with school I never got to stay home. I had to be deadly ill to miss school
and have a sick day. So my school attendance record was always good and same
went for my work attendance. I always came to school and always went in to work
my shift.

20-37 meeting school/work deadlines
I am currently presentation this portfolio so that means I have completed it. So that
means I completed my school work before the deadline. I always try and get my
work done and turned in before the deadline so I dont get marked down points.
