Postal Fraction,
Chennai
Dear comrades,
Vanakkam. As I have already told you some of urgent issues pertaining to
Cnennai to be dealt with Minister of Communication and Secretary, Dept. of Posts,
New Delhi is as follows:-

1) Closure of Sivakasi RMS Sorting office

This office has been ordered to be closed w.e.f. 1.12.09.I have to bring to
your knowledge that this move by the Postal Administration had been
stalled two years back because of prolonged struggle by the employees.
Again this move was stalled by the intervention of the MOC Sri Raja some
two months back. Now again the Administration ordered closure. It is
important to note that this office covers most of the Southern districts of
Tamilnadu for letter mails and other postal articles. If it is closed as scheduled
this will affect the postal services for the southern peoples of Tamilnadu.

2) Merger of Computer Registration Channel RMS office (Mount Road PO

building) with Manual Registration channel(Chennai Central Station) at
Chennai by closing the Manual Channel.

Computer Registration Channel RMS office Anna Road PO building

This RMS office handling nearly 15,000 to 18,000 registered letters
Daily with reduced manpower.
Manual Registration Channel at Chennai Central Railway Station
This RMS office handling nearly 5,000 to 7,000 letters daily also with
reduced manpower but sending all them on the same day to all over
Tamilnadu.

The Administration ordered closure of Manual Registration office w.e.f.

1.12.09 Merging the same with CRC Anna Road and this will delay delivery of
registered Letters with 2 or 3 days more all over Tamilnadu from Chennai

3) Merger of second class mails(Parcel and other packet mails) of Chennai

Central Station RMS office with Egmore Railway station RMS office

The Postal administration ordered closure of the Chennai Central Railway

Station RMS office and merging with Egmore office w.e.f. 1.12.09. This will
affect the prompt delivery of second class mails like journals (weekly,
forthnightly, monthly journals and also parcels etc.)

The State Postal Administration though convinced but helpless because of the
pressure from Secretary Dept. of Posts, New Delhi.
Hence, comrade kindly take up these three important issues with MOC
level.
